I am not surprised to see that Brandon left. He could definitely sing better than Sanjaya but his voice wasn't strong enough and he wasn't memorable. He just lacked something. I can't place my finger on it.
Even though I strongly believe Sanjaya should have left a long time ago, He stands out in the group for some reason. Maybe the hair, the shock of how bad he sings and made it this far? And the little girls voting for him of course!
I really think Chris Richardson should have been in the bottom three. I mean, he can't sing that well either and he performs very robotic. I cringe every time he opens his mouth to sing. He should have been in the place of Phil.

What killed Brandon was expectations. He has been a professional backup singer for years, so he knows what should be done. Although some of his earlier performances showed real potential, he had been lackluster for the last few weeks. If I was a Fox executive, this would have been my choice even though I liked the guy.

Hey Gram, You Missed Capitalizing One Word In Your Post. :D Agreed that he should not be in the top 12. He shouldn't have made it past Hollywood, but then again, neither should headdance have made it past Hollywood and he did.

Now, this just needs to be said. This is the 2nd person this evening to post something similar to "Well, I don't see your sorry arse up there doing it so just shut up!"
You won't see my sorry arse up there on Tuesdays for a several reasons, one, I am about double the age limit. Two, I am not that good. Three, I am smart enough to know I am not that good (ie, non-delusional). Four, just because I am too old, not talented, smart enough and not self deluded, does NOT mean that I have no ability to discern talent from hack.
Now, just because a person's tastes don't run along the same lines as yours, does not mean that their opinions are invalid. I don't care for Blake's beat boxing thing, but I do think he's got good vocal potential. I love Sligh, obviously, but while I think he's got a fantastic voice, I don't think he's idol material.
Here's an example or two of what I'm saying, the next time you go to a movie and walk out halfway through because it sucks, just remember, I don't see your sorry arse out there making big budget thrillers, yet somehow you knew the plot was non existent and the acting sucked. I didn't see you picking up your Oscar the other night either. Just because you notice your car is burning oil, doesn't mean that you have to be a certified mechanic to replace your own rings. YOU CAN TELL IT AIN'T RIGHT.

Sanjaya has a good voice too. It's just some people don't want to admit it here. They are all good singers on that show. If not they certainly wouldn't be there!

I heard Sanjaya's original audition. He rightfully made it to Hollywood week, but every performance since has been underwhelming, & he certainly isn't in the the league of any of the other top finalists. The disparity between him & the others is so large that the judges no longer know what to say. He's that out of place in terms of performance experience & vocal maturity.
