sky they're fabulous... Oh the man can move - and the rest - i can just imagine. The reports were that the atmosphere was electric, the crowd was packed for him
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v192/nanouk5/Christmas2005094.jpg
40,000 was the estimate
screams of
omg I didn't realise he was so gorgeous!!!

(one fan, who's never been lucky to be up reasonably close, saw his eyes and is now completely obsessed - green and beautiful).

Another has said that on the comp. he was an awesome vocalist, now he's an awesome vocalist + an awesome entertainer + awesome on stage + an awesome band.

A further comment
his charisma just hits you in the face

all these comments I absolutely agree with.

Thanks for the clips Skyblue. I have enjoyed reliving those 2 fabulous nights. I love the one of Oh Oh at Parramatta. He really danced, wiggled and grooved away didn't he LOL, and you got him doing the air guitar!! I love it!!

I've got to say that the Parramatta gig was the best I've ever seen him perform. I was totally blown away and floating on thin air. And candy shop was just awesome, being so close to him on stage.... OMG!!!! He's so gorgeous and every time I got eye contact with him, my knees went to jelly. He has the most stunning eyes. The colour is beautiful.

It was so packed and everyone got into it and was singing along with him. So, so amazing!!

Oh I can't believe it's all over now. I need more!

for lots of Guy media.

and I have to say debz I am so envious. I should have just said - birthday gift!!! and gone.

Isn't he incredible? Guy Sebastian has this gift (I've put it in his biography, in reviews over the past couple of years) of being able to apparently look at everyone at some time in his performances, so YOU believe HE is singing to YOU.

So it gives YOU a personal take on the whole concert. Its a special gift, a talent and so marvellous.

I'll be perfectly frank - there is no way he would be looking at me (sob!!), I am what is called 'everybody', nothing outstanding possibly a tad short, and um - not exactly a looker (well - the thought of spring chicken left me some time ago) ROFL

But I am willing to swear on oath he has looked at me every concert I have ever gone to, he has looked quite earnestly while singing different songs, and I have got the vibe he meant them for me.

I KNOW he didn't, and doesn't

but I also KNOW that it was in my direction he was looking. And with those eyes.

what more can a body (and heart and hormones) want?

I ask ya!

But I will definitely go to all his Sydney gigs. I didn't last time around because I didn't know anyone from the forums yet but now, there's no holding me back! LOL

I usually bring a friend or so - Always different for each concert.

thats the spirit girls!!! I mean, anyone going to a Guy gig has to be a fan? Right? But as there are dozens and dozens of us obsessed fans going, there's never any shortage of people to keep you company.

and NOW do you see why we fly around the country?

The simple fact is the man could just sit down (as he did in the fro zones) and talk to us - beautifully and simply funny and natural - and I could listen for hours. But the man sings! And I love his playing the keyboard to those beautiful slow ballads

and personally -
one of my favourite clips which we can add when we've just about run out of things
is his
jamming of "Jesus Loves Me" - LOL!!! Requested by a little girl at a fro zone Guy spluttered... he didn't think he'd sung that since Sunday school! But the US Musos were there, and he was at the keyboard and off they swung.

Simply incredible - and he ran the gamut of his vocal range too.

Oh I would have to been part of the fro zone.

And I wish to meeting Guy too. I thought at first its not really my thing you know.
You know queing up for singing is just not me...

But now after these 2 gigs I want to meet him...isnt it funny how everything change...

Like at first, I said ok supporting him like buying album is enough. I dont need to see him in concert. And then when I finally saw him concert. The more I want to see him. But now I want to really meet him, shake his hand or something or just say hello.

I am feeling a bit left out, just went to read the exciting stories of other fans when they met Guy and I wish I did too. I really thought its not my thing and only teens do it.

I have never been a fan or a supporter of any kind of artist in my whole entire life and Suddenly Guy enters our life and everything changes........how funny...but loving every minute of it:)

And addition to being a guy fan, you meet incredible fans who feel exactly the same thing - I just think everything is so amazing..its unbelievable..sigh

The angels clip from Phillipines is pretty awful - I suspect someone who didn't like either, tweeked it when they did it, as it doesn't sound right at all.

I'd love to see a Jade duet but never have - it would have to be taken during the first Beautiful Life tour.

don't you love this pic?

anyway, the duet one with jade is during the BL tour - Forever with you (I do love Mya's voice on Guy's album though)

Prinia
02-02-2006, 02:59 AM
I heard Guy sing the day he lost his voice and he just changes the arrangement and version and sings within his limits - and he completely lost his voice after that. And 2 days later at the Telstra dome when he sang at the Franklin Graham gathering, his voice was coming back but still wasn't perfect and again he turned in an incredible set of performances - prob. one only was not as good as usual. But nothing like that. He just adjusts his performance.

and talking about performances - Jen 21 review is here, plus Candy Shop. I love it - as she has written as a fan and as a professional too.

Part of her review of Parramatta Park before almost 40,000 (most of whom seemed to be in a giant mosh pit apparently :haha: )

He had so many girls and women screaming that at times it was hard to hear the music! There were girls screaming out how much they loved him, and how hot he was - and they weren't even our own forum members!!! One girl grabbed me during Sweetest Berry and screamed into my face "OMG!!!!! I had no idea he was so hot!!!!!"

The rest is available here - and also the Candy SHop review too

Oh sky.... dreadful isn't it. And he keeps lifting his performances.. he keeps learning. Just like the comp. He started out shy and quiet but beautifully talented and just kept lifting and learning showmanship and stagecraft - and is still showing that evolution. I am totally hooked on "Would'nt Trade this Love for ANything" - so rock, so different - and he just MOOVES.

Well - this one is just different from that.

Entirely different - this is Gospel / church Guy - notice the smiles on the gospel backing group as they got into it. Had a fairly serious look all the way thru, but by the time Guy had finished with them, there were grins all round.

COMMENT
A comment from http://dwh.typepad.com/poplife/2003/12/idol_guy_sebast.html

GUY Sebastian won Australian Idol because of his raw and singular talent.

There was only one other top 12 finalist that could have challenged him in the talent stakes, Paulini. Her performances, and her voice, were consistently polished and flawless, showing the value of training. She nailed the most difficult songs and if given a break is a talent to watch. Her idol is Whitney Houston there is every indication she could be as good as her (sans the drugs and the bad boy hubby).

But Guy managed to do something that no other performer could do, he reached emotional depths that connected with the audience and made it impossible to ignore his talent. The fact that one of the best singers this country is ever likely to see won Idol, will I hope change the competition for the better. With any luck producers will take the show more seriously as a search for the best talent in Australia and not just a TV show where we get to laugh at some people who should have never made it before the judges before the competition kicks into high gear (especially if it's true that these people were selected for the laugh factor over real singers).

After the concert
---------------------------------

After the first Guy performance on the concert, people were saying 'that was amazing'. I just couldn't believe that I'd just seen and heard him live! The cheering was unbelievable! (My friend text messaged me after the last song and said 'I heard it perfectly, I am sitting here crying.) ....... He seemed truly amazed and humbled by the reception he received.

...... People all around me saying ...... 'oh my God that was just incredible!'. I just sat there thinking: 'I can't believe I just saw him and he really is that good!'.

"....Then.... well, again you just couldn't think straight, the noise was deafening.

Guy looked drop dead gorgeous in jeans and a white top for 'When I Get You Alone'. Then he left the stage..... Then he comes out, on his own' sits down at the piano, with no other band members or instruments, and starts playing and singing 'Angels Brought Me Here'- .

He was completely overwhelmed and so touched, and there were definitely tears in his eyes!! I just wanted to hug him and plant a kiss on those cute little cheeks. ...... But it was still absolutely beautiful. (I cant explain what it is about him. His genuine 'niceness' is just so powerful it's like he has been sent by Jesus or something- No I'm not religious. I didn't even watch the television show, it's just a feeling I get)."

No worries Jessica.... - I seem to be besieged with requests at the moment so they're not in any order.
Here's Guy's Climb Every Mountain - it is in VIDEO - because it MUST be watched - and its all for real. Guy originally started out a bit shy, quiet, extremely focused, with a special voice and talent. By the time he got to sing this, he knew that he only need a bit more luck and he'd have a recording contract, something he REALLY wanted with every cell and atom.

And then his mum made it back from India in time to be there. And pastors and his family. He'd had to make a very last minute change to his songs because he found out, after working almost 48 hours on his song he'd forgotten to mentionit to Shannon, and shannon had seen John Foreman about 1/2 an hour before and beat him with Hey Jude (I would dearly love to hear Guy's take on this, he spoke about a certain part there being something that he thought he could really get the audience going with)

so
very traumatic lead up - and the full orchestra.

I was prompted to upload THE performance Climb Every Mountain from the competition.

One has to LOOK at it to gain the full impact so this is the video

This carol was sung in 2004 (Jesus Was a Wonderful Child was the first one, and then Guy returned to the stage nearer the end of the night - in fact - was he the last ? possibly. Many camped out over 24 hours to get prime position and our steadfast lot went the usual 10 hours or so at least. Even for smaller gigs such as the Candyshop one for around 2000 its a matter of lining up if there are no allocated seats - and everyone wants fro-row (or nofro-row these days).

Guy sings it straight
and then nearer the end, starts to church it up
I love it. I really miss it, when others sing Silent Night now. To me, its how it SHOULD be sung.

And the very last one... Chestnuts Roasting on the Open Fire (The christmas song, is it?)
Guy has a massive cold (a nose full of snot is how he described it, and by doing it at his home studio, with John Foreman at the piano and James Morrison, celebrated for his music, on the brass - beautiful, even if slightly snuffy!!! Guy said he had to do a couple of lines again, he was soooo full up of cold.

AUDIO ONLY because its from the Charity album of 2004 for Salvation Army - I'm only putting this here because it's no longer available - but their charity albums each year are quite marvellous - well known singers too.

Thank you for that quote, prinia. It has special meaning for me...

I was at that concert and just reading this report brings tears to my eyes. He WAS that good, he WAS incredible, and it seems impossible to believe he could have REALLY sung like that. BUT HE DID!!!

When I went to his Beautiful Life concert (the one with all the bells and whistles) even my daughter - who was with me and was only 10 at the time - turned to me and said "mummy, that was so beautiful I feel like I want to cry". I said "I know what you mean, darling" as I wiped a tear from my own eyes. That was after he sang "Wait", the song that he co-wrote with Brian McKnight on the Beautiful Life album.

And at that concert, when he started to sing Angels Brought Me Here, I was thinking that I would never be able to feel the same tingles and amazement as when I had seen him sing it on the first tour... BUT I DID!! I was transfixed on him throughout the whole number, my mouth open in absolute awe as he sang those beautiful high notes. Good heavens - how can he sing like that? He has been given a unique talent - one which is SO incredible that it is almost too hard to believe.

America - you won't know what hit you when Guy is launched there.

Prinia
02-22-2006, 01:36 PM
hah!!!!

But WHAT ABOUT WHEN HE LAUNCHES INTO OH OH!!! And the new rock-edged stuff!! I'm pleased (now) that he didn't go any further for the first or second year - even tho he deserved every bit.

He keeps upping the ante, as it were - look at the reports from the Parramatta Gig and Candyshop nightclub - something tremendous is happening and he's still evolving.

I am so on tenterhooks for the next round of concerts. I just can't believe I'm going to miss the opening of Metro Church (and I believe some of HIS new music which would possiblyi be aimed at the 'put on the back burner for a moment' gospel album).

Talk about being torn between the two things!!

Did you see the latest comment somewhere on the OS - a person who doesn't know him obviously said she'd spotted him today but her cell phone camera was full (of pigeons!!) and he had that 'Christian glow' LOL!!

GUY SEBASTIAN
Last we heard of him...Single "Oh Oh" from
second album Beautiful Life

Living angel and World Vision Ambassador Guy Sebastian spent time in Uganda, Africa last year making a touching documentary capturing the stories of the world's most needy children. The doco, An Australian Idol in Africa, shows Guy wander through the poverty stricken land and being brought to tears as he watched the children of this forgotten world struggle through their everyday.

But even though he's been super busy with his dedication to World Vision, Guy has still found time to write for his next album, which we hope to see released by the end of 2006!.........

------------------------------

hoping thats a typo for end of 2006 - its either all timing or something because I
remember Guy saying September last year in a Lowie interview, and apparently David was shaking his head and they were all laughing about it.

So there was something ready, there and then - but it seems things have changed and
perhaps goals have also.

Sighing - I know I can wait, but I hope we get more new music - can't wait to get
back to my media proper (our lap top has decided to throw the towel in regarding d drive, so although I'm travelling with my dvd player (can't go cold turkey) I can't get my favourite "little" bits until I get home - in just under 4 weeks....

"BIG SIGH"

well, the man is in 'down time'
but

today's Daily Telegraph..."Guy Sebastian's awesome acoustic performance proves the 'fro' still goes off".

Ahhhh - I have some video from Guy and acoustic performances and I agree, awesome is the right word.

At one stage we were promised an acoustic tour (just a little tour to whet our appetite, as it were) but that fell by the wayside as he steams ahead with writing and recording for the next album.

And - all very exciting - surely the first single can't be too long away - can it???!

The Herald Weekender: Heaven-Sent
Michael Gadd, January 17th '03

The talents of Australian Idol Guy Sebastian descended on Australian television audiences from Paradise, in more ways than one.

It was that heavenly-named suburb in Adelaide where he took the stage each Sunday for seven years at the Assembly of God Church.

He sung to as many as 4000 worshippers at services based around evangelical music and prayer.

Within months, that audience of thousands turned into millions fro Sebastian, as he emerged at the forefront of pop cultures latest phenomenon.

Only the Rugby World Cup out-rated the 4.4 million people that watched confetti fall on Sebastian after he was named the winner of Australian Idol ahead of 27 year old Shannon Noll at the Sydney Opera House in November.

Surely divine intervention passed a mention among Idol producers when their audience, dominated by teenage girls, turned out to be a wholesome individual with more musical credibility than some of the most established pop stars.

The victor could easily have been a pretty boy clamouring for what judge and BMG marketing manager Ian Dickson called the GG (girls and grannies) vote. But Sebastian turned out to be heaven-sent for Dickson, who was charged with the task of promoting the Idol winner to the nation.

Expections couldn't have exceeded the success his first releases have met.

Record stores battled to keep up with the consumer demand as his debut single recorded before the grand final, Angels Brought Me Here, debuted at number one on the ARIA charts, selling 128000 copies in the first seven days from December 8.

It became the fastest selling Australian single in ARIAnet history, acheieving the second highest first week saled behind Elton John's Candle In The Wind tribute to Princess Diana and the highest first week sales for a debut artist.

It would have been easy for the sucess to go to Sebastian's head, but it has been taken graciously with little fuss and no pretension.

Sebastian's philosophises that his sucess is a mere chapter in his life, albeit a really good one.

"If my life was to be broken up right now into parts I'd call this the Idol chapter" he says.

"there are a lot of things I want to do in music and my life.

"I certainly don't believe for a second that I will always be in the limelight, and that is fine by me, but I intend to make a career out of music

"And while I'm here I'm sure going to make the most out of it"

The rushed nature of his debut album, Just As I Am, which was recorded in the week following his crowning of Australian Idol, is the only criticism it has met.

HE displays typical humility when its credibility is question, considering one year is not necessarily considerred a long-time to make a pop record let alone one week.

In fact, since he has become a household name, the only "controversy" he has met is for things he hasn't done.

"A lot of factors have contributed to a lot of people buying those records," he told Weekender.

"It would be ignorant to say the power of the show wasn't still going strong when that song was released.

"That was the whole point of getting it out fast, strike while the iron's hot so to speak.

"But at the same time [Angels Brought Me Here] is a beautiful song that encapsulated the whole experience for me.

"I think it turned out to be a really nice package in the end that people could relate to."
.........
It seems Australians are a Guy person or a Shannon person.

A weekend poll by ACNielson Omnibus in late November last year had 45% of Australians claiming to have an opinion on who should win Idol, staggering figures for a TV Show. The survey reflected Guy's favouritism, with 29 percent supporting him and 16 percent hoping for a Shannon victory.

Overall, 12 percent of Australians voted during the series, 72 percent of those voters were female.

The series was such a sucess that a second series will follow in 2004. American Idol's third series will also air in Australia starting this month on ten.

But first, the top 12 from the Australian series will tour Australia, playing to sell-out entertainment centres in all major cities.

First stop will be the Newcastle Entertainment Centre on January 23rd, where the Idols wll rehearse for a week to prepare for the demanding run of shows, staying in a block of Newcastle apartments.

Last Monday the show was close to a sell out and third show had been announced for the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

But don't ask the Idols how the show will run. Noll had no idea what his role would be according to a recent interview.

"I don't really know yet, like the show we'll be more like mushrooms kept in the dark on (laughs) crap" he said.

"They'll be good, the producers don't muck around. They know what they're doing for sure"

Sebastian understood that the artists exposure would be fairly even, saying he doubted he would get any more attention than the other, less popular contestants.

A spokesman for BMG Australia said that while Sebastian and Noll will feature prominently in the show, the spotlight would be evenly spread.

The song list is being kepy strictly confidential.

Many of the contestants spent more than a month in a luxury home in North Sydney's Lindfield during the taping of the final series, where they had to endure similar drams each week to the Big Brother when one of two contestants were sent home by popular vote.

Suprisingly, Noll says there was little hint of conflict during the show.

"As far as I know everyon's keen to catch up again and are excited about the venues.

"we never thought we'd be playing at these sorts of places when we turned up at the auditions

"I think everyone got on pretty well during the show, I got on pretty good with everyone. I'm not sure if anyone had any rows. If they did they gave each other a bit of space"

The winners in Australian Idol emulated another Australian reality TV series where the last contestants standing were inoffensive and humble.

All three of Big Brother's victors (Ben Williams, Peter Corbett and Regina Bird) were unlikely heroes, like Sebastian and Noll, with completely disarming personalities.

It is this comfort factor to which many experts attribute the success of the individuals and the show as a whole.

The larrikins provide great sideshow value- such as the party animal Rob Mills, Mark Holden's ill-advised hip comments and remarks from the male judges about Paulini's appearance- but viewers tune in to see the contestants they like.

The winners of Channel 10's three Big Brother series showed us that Australians tend to vote for the nice guy.

Noll, a father of two from the bush, and Sebastian, Malaysian-born with parents of varying origins, also represent two significant stereotypes in Australian culture, that of the multicultural Australian and that of the Aussie bush battler.

Asked whether the voters choices reflected young people's attitudes towards Australian culture, Sebastian lived up to his ultra-positive persona.

"It just shows how beautiful a country Australia is. How accepting we are, as we should be, of everyone, wherever they come from"
........................

The pair formed a close bond during the final stages of the show

Sebastian lived in an apartment across the hall from Noll, his fiancee Rochelle and their two sons Cody and Blake.

Noll says he is still waiting on a curry (Sebastian's tucker of choice especially when cooked by his mum) that he has been promised- "I'm gonna hold him to that".

While Noll is soon to be married to Rochelle, his childhood sweet heart and mother of his two childrem, Sebastian is saving himself for marriage.

part 2

The media's obsession has at times seemed a bit off when referring to Sebastian's private life, in particular his self-confessed virginity, but he has always remained a rock. No amount of research could dig up a faux pas from the South Australian.

"Everybody knows about my sex life, of lack of (he chuckles), thats just one of the many choices I have made in my life, I don't think less of anyone for being different, that is the beauty of being human" he says.

Sebastian and Noll were two of the most understated contestants for the Idol crown.

Their modesty and bewilderment when presented with sucess become one of their greatest selling points to an always-increasing audience.

Speaking to Weekender from his hometown last weekend where he had taken a chance to appear at the annual Australian Scout Jamboree (there was an added bonus of catching up with his family for a night) he talked as though he had not achieved a thing.

He talks about all the things he wants to do with his life with a proverbial star in his eye, but for all the right and honourable reasons.

Finding love is high on his list, but its nothing he's going to rush. "Theres plent of time for that, I suppose you could say I'm pretty busy at the moment."

He has aspirations of touring the American Bible belt singing gospel music, but thats a long way off, he says.

He has plenty of other fish to fry first.

... noll, Although not as profilic as Sebastian, who penned three songs for his album and spends every waking hour writing songs, Noll co-wrote one effort with his brother and he's proud of that.

Both proved themselves able to embrace their quirks throughout the competition.

Noll was given a country-rock tag early on, despite the pop sensibilities of his voice.

Sebastian's quirky looks turned out to be a major selling point, especially his trademark Afro hairstyle. Talk of getting it chopped off early in the competition was quashed when Sebastian realised its gimmick value.

"Go The 'Fro" became part of popular vernacular.

Noll is at home belting tunes out in pubs, Sebastian worked as a vocal teacher and recording engineer.

The musical credibility from the two contestants was a shock to critics and welcome suprise to supporters.

Idol was essentially a singing contest, with contestants delivering popular songs from a range of genres direct to camera.

Had instruments been involved, Sebastian, a proficient guitar and piano player after he gave up the violin as a youngster, would surely have streaked up the field.

Although the 22 year old's debut single, Angel's Brought Me Here, was penned by another and recorded before he was announced the winner, his follow-up All I Need Is You, is one of his own compositions.

He acknowledges that it sounds like a showbiz cliche`, but he "just wants people to hear my music".

"I want to write songs that landmark people's lives, that they remember meeting their first love to, or got married to, that sort of thing, that's what music is all about."

(edited out Noll parts purely for size of post)

I Surrender All from when Graham's tour of Australia 2006 was on, and in the gigantic Telstra Dome (capacity 75,000)

Guy had completely lost his voice 2 days before (can testify - I was at his concert on the night before and still don't know how he managed - just had to 'rearrange' the songs as he went).

He was determined not to miss this opportunity so close to his heart, however

I SURRENDER ALL.

I finally saw some of the opening for the Metro Church, which some of your fans are saying was your best ever.

You had taken your normal band, with your usual backing singers Prinny and Gary Pinto and used them during the whole gig.

Certainly, for one of your backing singers to come over and say something to you, causing you to blush and say, "Thank you, thank you very much"
as she sort of made adjustments to her cheek and face
shows it was an extraordinary night.

see the download I put above, probably about an hour ago...

However, I'm moved to put this here because its relevant - we have access to Priceless media on the OF. That's all I'm saying.

I got my latest yesterday, which included 2 interviews prior to the end of 2003.

AND

The Dancing With the Stars hostess, midway during the night, comes and and makes the comment "I am totallyi in love with Guy Sebastian" - and has this glow and shining eyes.

Well, after viewing these 2003 interviews on the new priceless media - you get to see the reactions of the interviewers.

A little blase, a little bored, a little "been there, done that, winner of a singing
competition'

but by the end of the interview there is this little glow about the interviewers, THAT
reaction we all know so well ourselves.

Wanting more, just to be able to continue to speak with him so he can interact with us.

THEY have that too. ANd of course, ALWAYS,
the comment afterwards - 'the nicest
bloke', 'beautiful voice' etc.

Do you really think Guy Sebastian could be packaged? I'd love one to take home..

Prinia

I've lost track -

here are three from
Falling in Love With Jesus
at Metro.

The thing is - he sang these as true gospel songs, so there is the 'worship' that goes on after the song specifically - which to my mind is sometimes the most beautiful - it consists of 'winging' it, where the band, the singer, the choir (in this case only the 2 backing singers of Guy - Gary and Prinnie) also 'wing' it to a point. Carl the guitarist is used to Guy, he accompanies him almost everywhere (quite often with his family LOL) but Christian, the guitarist, found it a little new.

Yep, I know its
Fallling in Love With Jesus
yet again

but this one is the latest, and a different arrangement yet again, but that's not the whole of it.

If you want to try - make sure you persevere past the intro part. I guarantee his 'thick cream with brandy and crystallised toffee sprinkled on top' voice
will just get you.

See above for Falling in Love, which for some reason I named it as I Surrender All... it's fabulous, bluesy gospel with his lower register, raw, and raspy and still that beautiful tonal resonance.

And as someone wanted this one -
its a fun one from Beautiful Life tour - Sydney - in the fro zone - (off the cuff, totally unrehearsed - said he didn't know if he'd even remember it - thought the last time he'd ever sung it would have had to be in kindergarten)

Just listen to Guy's piano playing tho.

ahhhh we're so excited regarding this TV format coming up.

Just HAVE to repeat this one from a muso watcher in 2003, during the original comp.

GUY is so very very far ahead of the rest its scary, the man is capable of more variation, individuality and soul than just about any artist currently out there. This man is a genius talent.

and THAT was THEN!!!

I hope said watcher has seen his Parramatta shows although I doubt if he got to any gospel / church stuff. Pity....

I just listened to some gospel from last year and the progression he's made even in those 12 months is simply amazing

Audios
All Guy's own arrangements... so - different

Everything I do (LOVE this version - wait until that magic key change, when the audience go wild!!) And Mark Gave him a standing ovation, and called him sublime
http://rapidshare.de/files/20545883/10_Eve...ingIDo.wma.html

THIS was a shock - THIS made many sit up and take notice (mind you, the video has lots to offer heh heh)
http://rapidshare.de/files/20546716/12_WhenDovesCry.wma.html

If they didn't notice then, they noticed this one - by the time he'd finished it, on a non vote night, the audience had just gone mad. And he found he could really REALLY move on the stage

the videos include Everything I Do I Do it for You
THIS IS WELL WORTH HEARING AND WATCHING... this is Guy's own arrangement and confirmed, his 2nd song in, that he was a genuine contender for the title. Its glorious - esp. when he hits his key change.

What a Wonderful World - not in sync - so don't watch the video and instead just listen to that TOTALLY AWESOME ARRANGEMENT AND AUDIO. He really IS one of the greatest live performers out there now - I really wish he brought out an album of just live performances - in fact a dvd AND cd of live performances.

You're the Voice - just great. THIS is an anthem.

ANgels Brought Me Here - the very first time it had ever been sung. (Unfort. the silly TV ppl took the last 3 competitiors on a Sydney Harbour Bridge climb over the top of the bridge - streaming, bitter winds. Cosima lost her voice and pulled out of the competition, and Guy ended up snuffly for the final night before the Grand FInale at the Opera House. - You do have to wonder where commonsense went with the organisers - and Cosima deserves recompense for that).

Three (3) of the ep.1 and 2. - Jatz video includes some of the over the top crowd reaction.

Guy is ONE INCREDIBLE LIVE PERFORMER.

Oh, and Hillsong Conference,

I'll pop this here, so's not to go over my other post to the Taylor Hicks fan in the other thread. But it was funny. Guy has brought a bridging single, in that he sang it on It Takes Two finale and everyone wanted him to bring it out. THAT performance is on youtube (Taller Stronger Better) and so they redid it for the single. It went to air on Monday, and tonight it got no. 1. (He's got a TON of fans).

But the thing is - the comments. Love these two, particularly -

Comment No. 1 (fans for Guy)

WOW

caps from this little home video - Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, died today - he was a larger than life character, and Guy is taking him off here, pretending to fall and being a crying wuss. (he's not, he's a sportsman, football n all that).

Steve was killed as he swam over a huge stingray, which normally is no problem. But the stingray obviously felt alarmed, and swung his barbed tail straight into Steve's heart. The venom AND sting went straight into his heart. He had no chance at all.

interview on the Monday night. This is the one where they were saying how much fun he was having - apparently, while the TV viewing audience watched numerous ads, Guy was fooling around with Andrew and Jim - and they and the audience were in stitches. No wonder he's got this smile on him.

And wow!! Does he look good!
(thanks to Hairbear of the OF - which is down - still. We are not happy = in the middle of releasing the single, with fans coming on the forum and joining up 1 and 2 a day - they t ake it down for around a week. Sony have a big problem somewhere, certainly Guy has)

Well the forum is still down but we've managed to keep around 20 of our regular 60 odd (including lots of lurkers) so that's good. But really - very strange that the artists forum gets taken down (thats it, for 'maintenance') in the middle of a crucial week.

ANyhow - Guy's single debuted at No. 3 - which is fabulous, because so many stations over here are "idol!! bias" and that song, in particular, is not what they like to play. Westlife and others have problems here - NOT with the public, but with radio. Public love 'em and Guys big ballads but radios say otherwise.

Nevermind. He was the highest selling OZ for the week, and that is enuf for us.

Actually - very very very pleased, because its in spite of all the problems. It could have been No. 1 without the problems

Guy Sebastian debuts number 3 in ARIA Charts
Posted On Wednesday, September 27 2006

Guy Sebastian has made a high debut this week in the ARIA singles charts with the singer's new single debuting at number 3 on the Motorola ARIA singles chart with "Taller, Stronger, Better."

From his forthcoming third album due out next month, the single marks Sebastian's sixth single to chart with his first three releases all number 1 hits.

'Taller, Stronger, Better' was written by Guy, Gary Pinto and Phil Turcio, arranged Phil Turcio and Chong Lim and recorded in Melbourne while Guy was starring in the Channel Seven TV series 'It Takes Two' with swimming star Sarah Ryan, who he mentored throughout the singing competition.

"We wrote it one night quite late... I remember there was a 3am Maccas run involved," Sebastian says. "But it all came together pretty quickly."

"Gary, Susie (Ahern) and I put down a 120 track choir between the three of us. It's just our three voices but we sung in all these different pitches, trying to emulate a choir."

Other high debuts in the charts this week include Eskimo Joe with "Sarah" at number 14 as well as Little Birdy with "Come On Come On" at number 18 whilst on the album charts Dallas Crane made an impressive debut at number 30 with "Factory Girl".

thanks, both of you. Ahhh Guy is taken - his girlfriend's birthday today (Jules). If you've looked at youtube, there are two - Hosanna and Adore- which he did with his former church Paradise, Adelaide South Australia. Jules is there with dark hair (she's normally blonde, and gone back there). Standing quite close to him.

We fans can't speak too highly of him though. He comes across as really really nice, however when you see him in action during the soundcheck you also see his strength of purpose - focus, if you like. He wouldn't have got where he was if he didn't have this iron will behind everything. That's not to say he's overbearing - far from it.

I guess - if you look at the youtube / download of Guy this year on Idol - results day - he's wearing a sort of brown jacket and singing Taller Stronger Better, its quite a decent size video because it takes the leadup and the after bit - he seems SOOO nice, SOOO - well, damned nice! And he is.

It's just - he's a man in charge, too. And all that that entails? Probably need to balance THAT video with the Putt Putt one, even though he's being funny.

Here's some fun bits - I guess you've never seen Australian Rules Football. (sneeringly called 'aerial pingpong' by rugby purists LOL). Guy played that for some 11 years before everything happened. There's a charity match every year and he played again this year. Here's some Guy highlights, such as flight, tumbles, cartwheel and etc. But he couldn't get the grin off his face!

I used to watch Australian Rules Football when I lived in Japan and they showed it on ESPN International. It's a very mentally and physically demanding sport. The fact that he played it, is very impressive. He might want to give it up, though. Some guys (Who might be racist) might get jealous and try to hurt him, and cause alot of damage.

Surely not!!!! It WAS pretty rough LOL. YOu've just got the Guy bits in the above link. What did you think of the high fly and curl over! Oh, and the cartwheel.

btw heres a Nokia (?? why) summary on Taller Stronger Better

Now that the Australian Idol dust is settling, it’s interesting to see who’s still standing. Millsy? Gone. Cosima? Gone. Courtney? We won’t even go there. Perhaps the artist with the most unique lungs to ever grace the Idol studios is Guy Sebastian. Proving that he has still got legs years after winning the first series, Guy recently saw his single “Taller, Stronger, Better” debut at number 3 on the ARIA charts.

The single is the first to be released from his forthcoming third album. Even to simply be around, let alone charting so high, is a testament to his ability. The new album was written by Guy, Gary Pinto and Phil Turcio in the midst of Guy taking part in the Channel 7 TV series “It Takes Two”.

Since winning Idol, Guy has seen his first three singles debut at number one, and sold an impressive 500,000 albums in just a couple of years. “Taller, Stronger, Better” is his sixth single to chart and it will be interesting to see where the album comes in at. Here’s betting on a top five debut.

hmmmm couple of MY comments on that.

He's sold over 7 platinum in albums - that's huge in Australia
He COULD have got all his single in the top 10 - but interestingly enuf Sony decided to bring forward his Oh Oh by a fortnight, putting it up against big guns, and so it charted at 11 (and so didn't make the top 10!!).

The excuse given there was that the radio were using the album version - but as they put TSB up for a 4 week lead in, that doesn't gel. I think it may well have been deliberately done to ensure it didn't make the top 10. The music industry sux in a huge way - if they decide an artist is going to get 'there', steps are taken to ensure it does, via the selling format.

fr instance TSB was brought to sale 2 weeks before downloads started to be counted. TSB (and DO LIFE) topped several download charts in Australia for almost 2 weeks. Of course, by this week (the counting week), the downloads have trickled downwards.

Never mind. They can't go against sheer talent :)

And thanks for those kind words

I Wanna Be tends to be almost rocky,
Falling in Love has a country/western influence and The Blood is a huge, powerful one (there's only a bit here - I'm trying for the video but if I can, may put up just part thereof). Its interesting.

Oh apologies - there is so much happening

btw

shadow found this interview which is quite fun, from the Perth Telethon, where they used Taller Stronger Better as the theme song.

He's so tired (and we know why!! - Jammed with his band in the bar of his hotel until the wee small hours. And wasn't found out until some woman, slightly *coff* under the weather - the bar had been closed for quite some time - recognised and slurred out "there'sshhh guy shebashtian!!)

Mentions paulini, the chicken woman from the first video, in asia and other things

mentions paulini and stew, angels feather girl, closer to the sun, $4.30cheque for church work
pretty random interview basically!

btw - did i tell you re how ppl are marketed in the music industry And that some are not marketed at all, and others are - well, helped in a huge way to meet the 'star' quotas? LOL.

Apparently the 'star' one is to receive yet another helping hand!! I am currently betting with others that there will be one more of those, and so he will have been 'proven'! It is a very sad state of affairs - just like whom you like - and not whom you are told has been this, or that - because quite often 'this, or that' is totally artificial.

We now have the latest - ELEVATOR LOVE up with Jennifer Hawkins (ex Miss Universe and a great friend of Guy's, as is her boyfriend Jake - from Skating with the Stars or whatever it was) SPOT Mark Furze from the It Takes Two series and Home and Away star on one of the guitars, Carl his regular and his old friend the drummer from quite a few early Sunrise clips etc - we haven't learnt his name yet.

The building is the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney - a beautiful OLD place just full of shops - and at Christmas will have the whole of the floors viewing the 'to the top' CHristmas tree - the largest in Australia. (I know 3 floors, may be four)

Guy on ABBAmania (http://www.cronic.2ya.com/guyseb.html)

Look there for the latest = tonight on TV. ABBAMania Guy Sang Fernando,

Richard Wilkins comments afterwards ""What a magnificent voice! Your voice is God's way of showing off I reckon"!!"

and when you watch - the reaction was for Guy. It is incredible to watch, more so if you'd watched the show before, which has some wonderful artists on there.

And then Guy comes on and the place erupts!!!

And this is his newer voice, but not that deeper husky register he's been using lately. This time its a clearer, but oh so resonant voice. "Freedom" for sure

I keep forgetting. You will find a ton of fans there, plus links to actual artists, four of Guys songs and 2 of his videos, plus all the rest.

GUY has actually taken over to an extent this Myspace. However, it is maintained by Sony ppl. But yes! It is GUY's! How do we know? Welllll he was at a quiet time and decided to give himself a Myspace and did all the hard work, had a wonderful time - then went to make it happen and he couldn't! Because "Guy Sebastian" was there already!

Poor fella came over onto his forum (that's how we know it was him) and asked did anyone know the password? He thought it was a fan who'd set it up. We had to tell him he needed to contact his management and Sony.

Shortly after it was redone nicely - all very "Guy" but since then Sony have 'tidied' it a bit so's to put all the stuff re his latest album - but I still remember Guy's comment he'd written which would flick up before his photo - "When I find out who I am then I'll be free".

You know my pet hate? We love exploring (and no-one who hasn't driven in there will not understand)

Their roads can get smaller, and tinier and hedges grow and REALLY intrude, but they lead to great places, like tiny seaside areas. So every time we ask for small cars, the little ones - and every darned time we get upgraded!!! Last time even the upgrade wasn't available and we had a tank, almost! SO annoying, expensive - and not good for the metalwork either LOL!

One of my fave memories is coming home after seeing a Terry Pratchett play at Fountains Abbey, north Yorkshire - huge hills, little stone fences everywhere, great full moon - it was more than splendid. Words have failed - I'll think about it.

But it was certainly a memory to be treasured. Where we live now, its all palm trees and cars and tourists and long beaches, sure. But its slowly losing its 'old' look.

So - what's great in Germany? I've heard other people rave, but the closest we've been is almost to the border, while driving around France

On the stage, and these clips don't do justice because they're films taken of specific areas at specific times, he's - well my husband once said, and thats within the last 6 months, after we'd seen a pretty good show / act / performer / band (well, the drummer was brilliant) hubby turned around and said "When is Guy going to tour?" in a desperate sort of voice. Because he hasn't done a show that he could see for around 18 months now.

S funny - they put the "It Takes Two" TV series on - I think you have something similar with "Celebrity .... ??" singing with a celebrity? Something like that. Ours was slightly lower key although the singers were well known - and they also put Guy in - the singers MUST be people who can hold their tune, even when the non-singer wanders off. I'm not sure that they knew just HOW popular he was. I think they thought ex-idol, used to camera, young, okay, let's go.

Now what you get on youtube, and what you get on performances I might have dropped here, is Guy and Sarah performing. She was very nervous, and he prob. overreached a bit - she DOES have a lovely tone and apparently could cope in rehearsals. What all those don't show however, is the audience reaction which was over the top. All the screams were for him. The others came on and did their stuff and it was pretty good, we Guy fans know to give decent applause but even so, it was sooo apparent.

It should have been embarrassing for him, but he seems to have just pretended to everyone and himself that it was for the whole show. However, they did stop his meets and greets, because everyone wanted to meet and greet him and just bypassed all others until their meet and greet with Guy was over.

At least now the TV stations are fully aware, and have been using him at every chance they can. Its very funny - he'll be on ch. 10, then ch. 7, then ch. 9 will grab him and back to ch. 7. (We don't have that many - just 4 free to air). So pretty much he's on TV about every other week - but ONLY to do with singing / music. He won't go dancing or skating or any stuff like that.

so - you got me started.

What day is it over there? I've just come back from church and Christmas Carols. I think our "You Too!" trio were from Mexico or very much South America. Brazil maybe? Fantastic singers and movers. Its a fun church with good vibes.
AND I got a glo-stick. I mean to say.

My life is now complete :)

Oh, that "End of the Road" - someone had requested it, so anything I upload I dump here too. It actually makes it easier for me
sorry about that

Did ya ever get this, from late October I think it was. The 24 hour telethon for disadvantaged people/children. In Perth, WA Australia. I love this. If Guy doesn't release a jazz album in the next 5 years I will be highly disappointed.

Mind you, if he doesn't release a Christmas album, AND a gospel album, I will be one sore loser too.

But its major cute, and he's having so much fun!

this was an off the cuff, cute thing - Carl had just been told he was a father for the first time. Very moving! (Mind you, he had a girl).

I think it was after the show that night that Guy went to a nightclub and gave a free jam / gig for 1/2 hour

pretty well a private one but at a public performance of Can't Stop a River.

Its not HIS band, so the interaction while he's getting across to them is fun.

Mind you, it happens most of the time anyhow. He 'jams' when he performs, so we get the songs, just how hes feelin' a the time. Which is why we can happily go to 3 or 5 running.

Actually - prob. right. 100 is about it for the ones who spend up big to follow. Its pretty expensive to take in 3 or 4 states with around 10 gigs, including fares, accommodation and seats.

That is prob. too many - because really one shouldn't do it. There are REALLY important things to spend that money on (so my conscience tells me).

:)

It's always been my experience that the less people are at a concert, it's much more enjoyable. It's much more intimate. When I lived in Washington, D.C., I used to go to a club called "The Bayou" in Georgetown. They used to have alot of good bands play there. This was back in the late 80's/early 90's. I think my favorite concert I saw there was The Charlatains UK. That was a great concert. The Alarm also put on a pretty good show. These bands don't exist anymore, but at the time, they were pretty popular within the alternative music scene.

I love a small gig too - just a couple of hundred is great. At the same time, I'm all for the universe coming to appreciate Guy so I've gotta wear the bigger gigs. I've seen him do short acoustic sets to fairly small groups, but I'd really love to see the full on band concert at a small venue, preferably something 'unofficial' and no charge. Sometime I'd like to see him really let loose, performing what he considers to be his best work and not feeling obliged to sing anything just because it was a hit. Just letting rip with whatever he wants to do at the time, with no commercial considerations, maybe doing stuff he wouldn't EVER consider doing at a big show with paying customers. That would be my dream come true. Guy full on jammin'.

Guy does a fantastic 'big' gig though. He has great audience connection and no gimmicks. By gimmicks I mean no fireworks, doesn't enter through the ceiling.... I'm not attracted to a gig by promises of multi-zillion dollar spectaculars. I don't need the frills. (Yawns huuuuuuuugely.) Just show me the talent, gimme watcha got, from deep down.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I remember when I went and saw U2, millions of years ago on the Zoo TV tour. It was probably about the most elaborate concert I have been to. I could've did without all the gimmicks and special effects, I really would've been happy just hearing them play.

Prinia

I can imagine that (wanting U2 without the frills). Unfortunately as my money is earmarked for Guy gigs and interstaters - had to miss this lot.

Just a quick quote from one 'family fan' from the forum, tonight when we're considering how many concerts who can fit in when,

Can't say I'm over the moon about only going to one but it's far, far better than none! My friends are already like "you have NEVER gone to see something twice in your life, you're always off going to something new not a rerun, what's got into you to go see this same bloke every time he tours". smile.gif And it's true - I can't think of any other performer that I have ever paid to go see again. But Guy... well he's different, and you all know what I mean! :0

Small gigs are fabulous, there's an aliveness in the snugness of it all. A different vibe. I would give much to have been there when Guy decided to go give a jam session at a night spot after a concert. I believe it went on for quite some time. Or the lucky lot who had no idea it was Guy and his band tucked around the corner of an L shaped bar area of his hotel. Wasn't until way after the bar had closed and some woman slightly sloshed decided she'd go walkies (they hung on, because of the 'free music') and spotted him that they had to stop.

I want the fro zones back again. The lil 'jamming warmups / sound checks' prior to the gigs, when we could pay extra and sit in on them for a 30 minute special. LOVE the sound checks. They're worth their weight in gold, alone.

OH ps
that quote is from the same lot who saw his inaugural show, (family of 5), and when they walked out of that show at the end were lucky that there'd been an additional show put on after the first one sold out, so they immediately booked for the following show. 2 shows in 48 hours.

BUT
Australian Day Eve Concert. Guy final act. Elevator Love - got the 35,000 crowd jumping big, and then

"I Still Call Australia Home" - Guy's own arrangement of Peter Allen's classic, Rock/Gospel version, and he thoughtfully picked out one of his deeper voices. "The Amazing Guy Sebastian" is right. Just wait until I get it up here - after our IT ppl have done their thing. He used most of his really deep register for this one (he's got about a 4 oct range)

He's dropped two more songs on there, from the current album. Really, however they are undergoing metamorphis as the tour progresses.

Closer to the Sun on the album is pure Beatles, rocky fabulous.

Closer to the Sun on the tour is going a different path, with heavier guitar work and a rockier, rougher and totally fascinating orbit.

Can't Stop a River on the album is bluesy to the extreme. Love it. Love the versions on Idol and at Darling Harbour.

However NOW Can't Stop a River has grown into something extraordinary, and its much rougher and soul tearing. There is a download on the forum and its on youtube - the latest version is from Sunrise, last week. Don't really know now which I prefer as I love all three /four versions

UNBREAKABLE - used for tribute to Steve Irwin, Belinda Emmett (wife of Rove, who has his own Logie award winning show), and Brockie - race driver who failed to make the last bend.

Can anyone tell me? I was looking at the different Amazons? There seems to be a problem with Guy's albums, particularly the last, Closer to the Suin.

On some countries it doesn't have any song listing, there are no pics, its not even ON amazon.ca ??? the reviews can't be put up, and on .com it seems to be twinned with a more "il divo' type singer, whereas Guy is Johnny Legend/ Brian McKnight / R. Kelly type ????!!!

Any ideas how this can be put right, or why this should be? There also seem to be a few problems with his site being brought up. Obviously just hiccups in the scheme of things, I take it. But overall, very strange. Errr the other artist don't seem to have problems..

see the unbreakable youtube link up above

and HERE, thanks to Hairbear (including Guy's Taller Stronger Better!!!)

Big thanks to Mon  for alerting us to the fact that there was an interview happening on FM103.2 a Sydney radio station today

here is the link:

FM103.2 Sydney Interview & TSB APO 18 April 07 (http://rapidshare.com/files/26607361/Guy_Sebastian_-_FM103.2_Sydney_Interview_TSB_APO_180407_hb.mp3)

THIS is a really great interview .. very early, which is not good for Guy who is known to post at 2am, or go jam for free at The Melt or whatever.. but a really great interview.

Guy is *sigh* amazing

Oh, I meant to say - when he sings Taller Stronger Better in concerts - I've seen groups standing together, rubbing each others backs, leaning on each other, heads on the others shoulders... its a really REALLY moving experience to be part of.

well post MTV Awards which were all pretty much as we thought (not that there's a suspicion of pre-orchestration - at all ROFL!)

Guy got best pop video - now has bookends of them.

I know it's up on their site now but some people couldn't get it to work.
Here is the download if you want to keep it as it's a really good interview.

lovely interview - husky voice after a late night - walking home by himself unprotected afterwards from MTV - hope he had his big beanie on

Kyle & Jackie O - MTV Awards Elevator Love WIN 29 April 07 (http://rapidshare.com/files/28712987/Guy_Sebastian_-_Kyle___Jackie_O_-_EL_Wins_MTV_Award_300407_hb.mp3)

tossed up for the pic, but here's one of Jules and Guy (and of course she would go home, when they all trooped off to the nightclub - because Jules had to work, and Guy is notorious for late nights. He and John Mayer stayed up until 5am last time they went out.

he mentions his friends Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas whom hes known since 2004

the conductor Gavin has told us they had asked if they could do more concerts with Guy this particular season, but he's too busy and there are no more vacancies in his schedule, to work in with the Pops Orchestra. A true bummer, that.

Anyhow, on youtube, for you ppl who are lucky (I'm one - it works beautifully)

Guy - SOUL man, this weekend.

http://forums.guysebastian.com.au/index.php?showtopic=17068&st=0

gotta run, but she has two links in that first post and they are GRUNTS N SOUL

to think I will have hopefully an hour and a half of Guy 'flying' like this. I'ms so glad I booked now. The first two shows are booked out (and the 3rd might be - if they bothered to advertise properly - I notice there is still a lack f decent pointers to the 3rd Sunday show - see my siggie which was taken from the STILL evident one)

(tucking this here, somebody lost the Falling In Love With Jesus from the Influencers conference last year - 'country' tones,

Here is, courtesy of Janice

:)

KYLE & JACKIEO INTERVIEW Guy sings Crazy and Superstition and Kyle raps (http://forums.guysebastian.com.au/index.php?showtopic=18781&st=0) Superb, REALLY superb the downloads are there in both formats,

Guy brings in Carl his guitarist, a drumming machine he's programmed up and its all happening, live... Funny AND AMAZING... The man is totally awesome for that time of the morning.

Also Kyle does a great job rapping... I'm surprised - and Guy provides backing vocals for his effort

Jackie O tends to be horrified - until they get into the swing - and then she's sold too.

Kyle = one of the Judges on Australian Idol

Jacki O - Australian Princess TV show
