There's so many questions that we can ask about season 6 this far and I was wondering what other people thought. I am conducting some research on what the general public thinks of American Idol.
Is Simon going soft? Should the judges be replaced? Are the contestants on American Idol really there to improve, or more for publicity?

I think that the contestants are there for both and I don't think Simon is going soft...i think the judges should stay it just would not be the same without them......

Does anyone have any predictions on whose going to make it furthest?

Is Simon going soft?
I really dont understand the way people think. If Simon is speaks his mind, he gets accused of being too harsh & disrespectful, and every cant stand him. If he trys to be nice, then he gets accused of being too soft, and not entertaining.
Should the judges be replaced?
No, each one serves a purpose. I mean come on, when you think of "American Idol", whose the first judge or even name that comes to mind? Simon...

I think some of the contestants are there to improve, and others are there for publicity. You can usually tell by the way they take the judges criticism.

I think Simon is one of the main reasons most people watch AI. Without him it would be less colorful.
He looked bored out of his mind tonite. And rightfully so. Most of the top 24 were dull and forgettable imo. I don't see the total package anywhere. (Great voice, charisma, attractive.) It's gonna be interesting...

Simon's the one I want to hear, however, what is this "careful, careful?" He should just wave them off - it's disrespectful. Love all the judges, we need Paula's kindness and Randy's opinion - but Simon says everything we are thinking in the back of our mind.

If you havent figured out that Simon is directly responsible for the success of this show, then you havent watched enough. You don't see how everyone is always so geared up for his comments and lashings? Does the audience ever start giggling everytime its Randy or Paula's turn to comment? No, but when those 2 are done and its Simon's turn, listen closely to all the deep breaths and giggles. People tune in to watch him desecrate contestants. That accent makes it all the better. If he left, the ratings would plummet. I could do without Paula and Randy, however.
