Democrats Move to Prevent Iraq Win

Today democrats and 17 turncoats voted against funding the surge needed to finish off the job in Iraq. They said their next move would be to challenge President Bush's request for funding. Talk about aiding the enemy. This is EXACTLY what binLaden and the terrorists want. The measure will lead to attempts to cut off funds for the troops.

Rep. Sam Johnson of Texas (a former Vietnam prisoner of war) stepped to the microphone as lawmakers in both parties rose to applaud his heroism.

"Now it's time to stand up for my friends who did not make it home, and for those who fought and died in Iraq already," he said. "We must not cut funding for our troops. We must stick by them," he added, snapping off a salute as he completed his remarks to yet another ovation.

The Vietnam war was different. It wasn't full of evil muslim terrorists who want us all dead. You didn't see Vietnamese declare war on us by hijacking our planes and flying them into our skyscrapers. You didn't see (many)Vietnamese coming here illegally and planning to kill us and blow up our people/property.

Pulling our troops out of a fight before the war is won is a formula for disaster. In Korea, the decision to withdraw UN troops to the 38th parallel resulted in stalemate and today’s despotic, nuclear-armed regime in Pyongyang. In Vietnam, the Congressional cut-off of funds in December 1974 precipitated the North Vietnamese Communist takeover of the entire country less than five months later. The combined losses in both wars – more than 108,000 Americans killed in action — should be an object lesson for this Congress. Pulling out, holding back, withdrawing support, “de-funding” the war — whatever it’s called — is tantamount to squandering lives.

Democrats voting to cripple Bush is EXACTLY what the terrorists have been waiting for. The stupid thing is that it's a non-binding resolution so it was done for show--to show supporters of terrorists that the people they elected are "doing" something. Too bad it's something that hurts the soldiers' morales, costs time and money, and makes us look bad.

My husband fought in the Vietnam War Sandy and we were fighting a losing battle did you know that we were there I believe since just after WW2......The future of our country is at stake! The Children....They are our future IE Doctors, Judges, Congressmen, scientist, explorers and even our President...Pres Bush is taking away their public Education........not everyone can afford a Private School! Oh yeah one more question that you have not answered yet is Bin Laden in Iraq? Is that why our Country went and invaded Iraq was to look for Bin Laden? I do know that he was the man responsible for 9/11..........

They never found any wmd........nor any evidence.....This war in Iraq is going to be just like Vietnam this came from my husband just as it started......why well our enemy looks just like the people that we are there to help and want our help.......the other difference is that instead of a jungle it is in a cities....we will more than likely pull out before we even come close to winning this war....there are just too many insurgents that want us out of their land just as we would want them out of our Country......

When the Iraqis came out and voted, that showed us they WANT democracy. Many of them are just afraid of the terrorists who hide as their neighbors and friends.

The 380+ tons of wmd are hidden and/or long gone to Iran,Syria,Pakistan, and Russia.. We did find some, but Saddam moved the ones we were most concerned about. He was evil but not totally stupid. He KNEW we were coming. (There are videos and pictures of him moving them.)

More than 500 chemical agents classified as wmd have been found since '03 including mustard gas and sarin, enough to kill tens of thousands of people. Naturally, this was dismissed by the Bush-bashing media as insufficient. Apparently wmd means something different to them.

Just what do you think will happen when we surrrender, cut and run? That will empower the terrorists to take over. First Iraq then the rest of the Middle East. We will look like a foolish country that turned on its' president/troops, and enabled terrorists. It will be the prophetic beginning of the end.:(

Well let's let the rich Republicans pay for this because as a widow and a mom of a young boy that needs a good education I can't afford to pay anymore.....And Bush has cut education.....he has cut the money he is giving to Gifted and Talented and that is where my son is....so he is left with the rest of the students as their tutor because they don't know what else to do with those in GT.....now during the summer my 10 year old will be attending College for Kids however I have to pay for this........when I was in school there were so many programs for those that were gifted.....My son is reading at almost a college level and he is in Th grade and I haven't even talked about Math.......the teachers can only do so much hence my son being a tutor...........

As far as Iraq, I've always felt that if we were to invade a country, we invaded the wrong one. Iraq was not a threat to us. Then again, I do give the President the benefit of a doubt as the folks in the White House and Pentagon have intel that we won't see or read about for generations. And if you thought Saddam was an evil tyrant, it would have been far worse had one of his sons (Uday, Qusay, or "Bad Hair Day") finally taken his place. His sons were rabid dogs and pathological killers. They were raised to have no regard for any human life. Glad they're out of the picture.

But my gut feeling is that W tried to right a mistake his dad made (leaving Saddam in power at the end of the Gulf War) rather than fighting a fight we needed to engage in at this time. Now two known sponsors of terrorism have nukes (North Korea and Iran) so it won't be long before one detonates on US soil. But since we're in Iraq and Afghanistan our military is too over-extended to fight the folks we need to fight at this time.

As far as funding for education, that is supposed to be the responsibility of the local school board. I've read the Constitution and it does not grant the Federal government any role whatsoever in education. The last thing in the world we need is for a beurocrat in DC setting educational policy for people in Texas/Wisconsin/Nevada/etc.

Every lib I've ever seen interviewed dodges the question "Do you want us to win in Iraq?" They him and haw and twist and spin. Of course they want us to lose. They hate America and Bush. They will do anything or say anything to make us/him look bad.

Usually the nonsense liberals spout is kind of cute, but in wartime their instinctive idiocy is life-threatening.

Bush never predicted how long the war on terror in Iraq would take. That's ridiculous.

I was speaking of someone of considerable wealth.....Not one person who comes from a wealthy family is willing to put their lives in danger.....Can you think of one?
