View Full Version : Why The Colts Won

I just read this and I'm not surprised. Just enlightened. It says the Colts coach is a HUGE Christian guy who was praying during the game and had his guys praying during the game.
It says he credited God for the victory. What a classy guy!:)

Well, I just read that Smith is a Christian too. So much for that theory. Maybe one had more faith and people praying for them than the other? I dunno....
"But again, more than anything, Lovie Smith and I are not only African-American but also Christian coaches, showing you can do it the Lord's way. We're more proud of that."

I read the article Dungy is a classy guy.........to tell you the truth for awhile there it looked like it could go either way........fumble to the colts.....very next play fumble to the bears.......It was a Crazy game but the colts did prevail and win the game! I am very happy for Peyton Manning and the rest of the Colts as well as their fans.....I am a Cowboy fan so the game meant little to me except for the fact that I had more friends both here in Wisconsin and online that were Bears fans than Colts fans.....But Congratulations are in order!!!!!!! They both played hard and gave us all hours of entertainment! Next year will be interesting!!!!!;)

I'm wondering if the Colts got crazed when we got that first touchdown so fast and so furious. I wonder if they got supercharged? I wonder if they got SO determined to win that they had some extra adrenaline pumping? I don't know. It was an interesting game tho.

I've gotta agree with Frankie on this one.
I was watching the game with one of my best friends (the very religious one) and although he appreciated the 'we're Christian coaches' remark.
Even he said it was over the top and he's tired of coaches, ballplayers, etc giving all thanks to God when they win... as though God had anything to do with it.
Because if you believe that then obviously for some reason he had something against the other team.
Since both were Christian coaches, I guess Sandy, one is more Christian than the other? Or there were more prayers for the Colts? As you suggested?
Whatever.
I would hope God has better things to do than interfere in the outcome of a sports game.
Maybe Lovie Smith is actually Muslim.
I bet if it were a Christian coach against a Muslim coach the Christian coach would ALWAYS win right?
Maybe someone should do an investigative report and find out if that's true.

Frank.
I had no idea you would take it this hard.
To me it's just a game.. and I was just teasing about the Colts blasting the Bears.
We're talked behind the scenes and you know I said that it wouldn't surprise me to see the Bears win... but I am a little shocked that they played so horribly.
Go get yourself a QB next year and you stand a very good chance in what should be a very weak division again of making it to the playoffs.. and with even a decent QB you should be tough to beat.
Just honestly right now the AFC is SO much stronger than the NFC is.
There were probably 4-6 teams that could have gone to the superbowl from the AFC that nobody from the NFC probably wanted to see there.
But I think everyone expected a little bit of a closer game.
It just wasn't the Bears night.

I'm one of those lunatic fans that equates a Superbowl loss with a Death in the Family. Here's a stereotype for you, I'm Irish, and I'm going through the grieving process. Today is the wake. And do you know what the primary function at an Irish wake is? Well I'm doing that function right now.
Anyway, I have to make a run to the store for more medication.
Thanks for the friendly note Kat.

This is absolutely scandolous, false and just generally in bad taste.
Everyone KNOWS that God is a Dallas Cowboys fan. That is why Texas stadium was constructed with a hole in it when Tom Landry was coaching. This was so God could watch his son coach.

THR, My house was for the Colts.
That first TD by the Bears caused the quietest moment I have had at my house in a long time....everyone went silent. It took them a moment to get over it...lol
As for the reason for the Colts big win, well, I have thought and thought about
it and discussed it with several different people, I can only come to one
conclusion..............and I think God will agree with me.....
THE COLTS PLAYED A BETTER GAME
Yep, God agrees with me. He decided to allow the game and said.....
"May the best team win"

Well to tell you the truth my sweet Jonathon was pulling for the Colts so I found myself pulling for both teams.......Imagine that....lol.....anyway I felt so bad for my sweet boy when his cousin was jumping around and screaming when that 1st touchdown happened....so then I found myself truly pulling for the Colts perhaps out of spite for rubbing it in.......now why did Jonathon want the Colts to win well I asked him this very same question and this is what he said I asked everybody I knew who they wanted to win and nobody wanted the Colts and they don't have any FANS so I will be the one and only if I have to isn't he a sweetie? So his mom started out pulling for the Bears and ended up pulling for the Colts.....:)

Ok, I read through most of this thread, and here's how I see it...
Anyone who is a strong Christian, gives all praise and glory to God, he commands it from us.
And....God does give "favor" to his children.
But i'm sure there were Christians on both sides Sunday and since God is not a respector of person this is what I think.....
God plays a strong role in everything, uses EVERYTHING for a greater good....winning souls. So I know he had his reasons for the superbowl outcome, just like he allows everything else. What his reasons are, I don't know and would never speculate. But every road we travel, everything we do, every experience we have plays a role the the outcome of our life. Nothing is insanificant.
example.....will someone be traded next year because they didn't play well? Once they are traded, will they meet the woman of their dreams? will she be a christian? will he then get saved?
God has a plan for all of us.

IMO, there's a reason for everything. Nothing is coincidental. Whether it be sports, relationships, or any real life situations.
It's well known that Tony Dungy's son committed suicide last year. I think the Colts were undefeated at the time, and probably on their way to a Super Bowl. They were pretty awesome. When lost his son, it pretty much took the wind out of everybody's sails on that team. I know, as a father, I'm not strong enough to handle losing a child. I really don't know how Tony managed to keep coaching. I know this Super Bowl victory could never fill the emptiness of losing his son. However, I'm very happy for him. Because he is truly one of the good guys in the league.
I think there were reasons things that Tony went through what he did, as terrible as it was. I don't know what the reasons were, and I never will. I also think there was a reason for him winning it this year.

IMO I don't think God has a hand in much of anything if anything at all on this Earth. I think he put things into motion to go on their own accord/free will etc.
Particularly since the Dallas Cowboys were not participating in the Superbowl I'm quite sure God stayed out of this one.

<-------------------- jumping up and down.
'let me answer, let me answer'
It implies that even if God is involved then you still can get hurt... and if you can still get hurt then it implies that God isn't really involved (or he doesn't care.. you choose!)
Which implies that maybe you should just play the game and not imply that God gives a @#$# about what happens in a sports game.
And you certainly shouldn't 'thank' him afterwards for allowing you to win, or implying that he cared.. because then that implies that he didn't care about the people on the other team... or that for some reason he 'likes' you better.
And if you're thanking him for getting you through the game safe.. then that implies that whenever someone gets hurt that either he had his head turned at that time.. or that maybe that player didn't pray before the game, right?
How incredibly silly.
I hate logic. It always gets in the way of a good arguement.

Or wait.. even better...
God took Tony Dungy's son from him.. and then rewarded him the superbowl to ease the pain.
