Support act is Tom Jordan, the quotes are from various persons
Tom Jordan (see Myspace) - proved he is what it sez he is
Report
"Jordan the support act was awesome. Amazing. They were blown away!
He went for half an hour then 25 minutes break.
and Guy came "
from cybile
I'm really glad I went to the first concert - because NOT knowing what was going to happen made it more magic! Being slightly ancient, I've been to a few concerts in my time but that was probably the one that made me the happiest.
Just go and have a ball. It is really something extra special. I'm not gonna give you any details. Just go and be surprised and thrilled and laugh and cry (yes, I almost did!). What a night and they're probably just warming up. wacko.gif
And don't be scared of Tom. biggrin.gif What a star he's going to be some day.
ust got back from the concert and I have to say Guy was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!! I didn't think it was possible but from the first riff of CTTS to the very last note of EL, I was totally floored. He is absolutely world class. You are all in for a treat. This would have to be the best concert I have EVER seen.
Burn for you...
Heaven Knows..
and a few others which I can't remember cos I was too busy pulling the hair out of my head and trying to catch my breath.....
......pure heaven.
Be Mine.....to die for. I'm sure I heard 2000 girls/women/ladies...even a few men... murmur "I do".
Friday the 2nd of February, 2007 at The Palms was a lifechanging moment for me because that's the day that Mr Guy Sebastian truly captured my heart and catapulted me to a magical place where I shall remain forever.
Guy Sebastian's performance last night was nothing short of WORLD-CLASS PERFECTION! Guy sets the benchmark for anyone who dares to call themselves a singer, a performer, an entertainer, or yet alone a music genius, because Guy is not only all of those, but he ignites all your senses to such a level that you are left gasping, shaking, mesmerised, captivated and totally awestruck.
Your senses are heightened throughout the whole performance.... you will cry and you will laugh and you will be stirred like you've never been before.
My fiance said to me.... "You know, I came to the concert thinking, yeah Guy will be good and it will be a good night out, but instead I am totally BLOWN AWAY by how TRULY AMAZING he really is. I am an ABSOLUTE CONVERT!! Everyone in Australia should see Guy live because they will be converted instantly.
GUY was COMPLETELY AMAZING.
i dont know where my thoughts are as im just beyond words.
ont think i can put a proper scentence together at the moment.
this particular show was so personal.
Guy was funny, sweet, sounded like an angel, HOT, i'd really like to see him try to better this show. dont think its possible.
i could have sat there all nite.
the entire room went absolutely crazy before he did EL.. the feeling was so wonderfully overwhelming. did i mention he was hot?
and OMG! the MOVES! brace yourselves girls. glue those lids as blinking is out of the question. OMG OMG
i took my girls and hubby for the first time. Hubby just kept looking my way saying things like OMG. WOW. HE"S AMAZING.
Nicky got her fix of 'Celebrator Love' and danced till she literally passed out from tiredness laugh.gif
Cassie couldnt believe Guy could play the guitar so well and said he had nice shoes laugh.gif
Emily has fallen to tragic status.
she refused to shut up in the car. went to bed with her guy top on, hung his little poster next to her in bed and is completely sucked in. she's become mini me huh.gif she asked if im going on the forum, can she stay up laugh.gif
(from a professional - part of the post)
So much beauty - I swear I had goosebumps for more than 20 minutes just soaking up the gorgeous, gorgeous harmonies, and Guy's amazing interpretation of songs I have known and loved for ever. wub.gif
So glad to see Kryptonite back in the set and the intro into Trade This Love was hilarious - Guy tried it in a few different styles first - country, reggae, nightclub and then the normal way but totally rocking out. laugh.gif
The roof just lifted off during TTL and EL - I swear most people there were singing along and dancing. biggrin.gif
We also got Closer To The Sun, Boyfriend, Cover On My Heart, Be Mine, AINIY, the funkiest mash up of Rob Thomas's "Smooth" with Oh Oh ohmy.gif , and OWMB. cool.gif
Just a few superlatives. Can't wait - I get to see three concerts next weekend (you NEVER see one Guy concert - NEVER! Like we're talking he doesn't just entertain - he grabs your heart, soul, backbone, yanks the rib cage, rubs your mind with gentle swirls, touches your hair, puts the softest of kisses on your cheek - all metaphors, these - and has the most major audience connection you ever did feel or hear)

Guy Sebastian & CLOSER TO THE SUN tour
Opened at the Crown Casino Melbourne on Feb 2, 2007.
New man on drums, new man on bass, Carl, Darryil, Prinnie and Gary from his original band
and Guy - who has OBVIOUSLY been workin' out! (Who can forget that 'arms outstretched' stance on Australia Day Eve concert at Canberra just a few days ago? The muscles! Good grief.... and other things! heh heh )
So - the vibes I'm picking up from the Closer to the Sun tour are:-
Guy Sebastian has raised the performance bar yet again. But where you THINK he might have reached now, forget it. He's surpassed everyone's dreams and ideas.
Guy IS a musician first, there is no doubt in my mind. The fact he is a singer first in everyone's mind is because that's what he does, to earn a living. But, innately, he's a musician. There's music tucked in every little atom of his body, just waiting to get out and do its thing.
When a musician sings as well as Guy, with an extraordinary range AND given his absolutely ability to control his voice as few can, there is definite magic in the air. As I mentioned before the concerts even started - the air would be sizzling - and it did.
But what makes Guy Sebastian such a supreme entertainer / performer is his charisma, stage presence and audience connection. And this concert has been staged to take advantage of just that.
There is a part where the whole band just sit on lounges, with Guy in the middle. And the audience gets a presentation for THEM. Almost as personal as it can get. He chats, he sings the songs he loves and we love, and the whole vibe is personal and close.
The concert ends with rip roarin' fun so be prepared to dance and sing, and yes grin your night away. Your face will hurt from smiling, even past the next day.
Guy Sebastian is past superb. Grab a new superlative and you might just describe the Closer to the Sun tour.
--------
13 yr old Tom Jordan has really impressed as his support act, definitely a big future if he continues along this path. It would be nice however that he acknowledges on his myspace that 'his gigs' which everyone has been congratulating him on, in his myspace, also acknowledges that he's been given a MAJOR chance here to gain a huge audience by acting as the support act for Guy Sebastian - who has the largest active IT and other fanbase in Australia.

someone just sent me this in a pm
The shows are stunning. It's probably too late - but try not to read too much about it on the forum. He was just so brilliant I laughed! You know that feeling when you see something so delightfully magical, better even than you expect, that you laugh out loud?
four nights to go! (3 concerts in 2 days)
today - rehearsal with the 60 piece orchestra for the May gigs at the Sydney Opera House
gospel, inspirational, Closer to the Sun and others .... *sigh*

the jamming segment. This mightn't look fascinating but its very very special. The band just sitting around on couches, bongos and guitars and singing various songs. This is part of the present concert set which we fans will treasure for a long time.
Guy talking, singing and jamming. It can't get much better than that. Like being in ure own living room.

Dammit! I haven't seen a concert since Saturday night. I was not thrilled coming back to Melbourne on Sunday, knowing there was a show in Sydney that night. I need March 1 really quickly so I can go to Geelong. Nothing is as overwhelming as the first show, I know, but he's so creative and talented and funny, there's freshness about every show (5 so far) and that band is to die for.

Great review considering that the same lot gave Guy's concert 4 stars and Evanescence only got 2 stars and II Divo 3 stars
"the only way his elevator is going is up." :)
and the reviewers last comment re Guy's singing - depends. If you're like us fans (have a look at the alexa site, there's plenty of us) he can use his voice ANY which way.
We've just come from my 5th concert in 9 days. I THINK this one might have been the best, but I'm not sure.
His Taller Stronger Better just lilfted the roof.
His Be Mine is melting perfection
Closer to the Sun, the opener is spectacular and a pure marvel, as are all the guitar / rock / move ones.
And Elevator Love with the whole crowding yelling it out is screaming fun.
LOVE IT!!
My last, until the Opera House

I love that Gary and Prinnie (the BVs) got a rap in that review too. They're both soloists. Gary's been around a while but seems to like working with Guy at the moment. Prinnie's gonna leave us soon and do some recording overseas. Wonderful singers, both of them. We couldn't have two better than them, but I'm for Carmen Smith coming in if Guy can get her while Prinnie's away. She can match Prinnie and she already has worked with Guy. Another great singer with SENSATIONAL legs. And when Gary and Guy are singing together, they read each other beautifully. They need to because they never do it exactly the same twice. These guys don't just play a list of songs. Well, they kinda do, but it can vary from show to show.
Terepai Richmond's drumming just about laid me on the floor. So powerful but melodic, his drum solo. There was a real sweetly powerful edge on his solo.
I love how they relate to each other. It's natural and fun, because they're not always clear about what he's exactly going to do next.
Anyway a leg of the tour in my state has been cancelled. They had legal hassles at the beginning and I suspect there've been legal hassles again - because the shows sold well, according to venues and promoters. I hope we hear the details soon.
In the meantime, if I'm not getting my Victorian Guy fix, then I have to go to Sydney to catch the last shows on the last weekend. I don't like debt but I'm going into the red for you this time, Guy. But I know you'll be worth it.

laugh.gif Hahaha!!
That would've been a sight to see lol. My eyes were like fixed on him while my arm was involuntarily stroking his leg! I had no control, i swear!! haha
The above poster (Mrs Seb) was 'felt' by Guy Sebastian (the stage was very high) and made mention. She met Jules, his girl friend, later and apologised. Jules laughed, saying that she was on her way to the bathroom when she heard him mention that "someone is stroking my leg.. I think I can concentrate" or something like that, and said to herself "keep walking" ROFL!!
btw THAT IS A GUITAR GUY'S HOLDING, UNDERNEATH

Sorry that its so large, but it deserves to go here.
Every concert is much different, although naturally the song set is pretty much the same. But he'll ad lib his way through everything - so one lot will get the acapella 'Climb Every Mountain', another a duet between Chris (his younger brother, great voice) and Guy.
The photo is from another concert again. No wonder the whole band love working with him, he gives such leeway to them as musicians, and they're not stuck 'in a rut' as it were.

This is in your lounge segment - LOVE this one
its when you get beautiful covers with the band doing their thing. And they just jam away. Terapai the drummer has been on many cds, initially with acid jazz group D.I.G. - he is an absolute awesome drummer / percussionist.
*big sigh*
The others are going tonight - again! Last night's concert enabled a huge dancing mosh pit - great idea. It was near the church he goes to, so full of his friends and acquaintances. Fabulous night.

Its the greatest fun, Guy's concerts. I mean - CAPS, UNDERSCORE, AND BOLD. We come out with grins stuck to our faces, that are hard to get off, even a few days afterwards. And PFD (post fro depression) sets in. You just WANT / HAVE TO go again. It's a need.

not sure why you ask the question Frank
does it matter really to an artist's musicianship and talent
he is a gifted vocalist who just happens to be straight
but it wouldnt make any different to me whether he was gay or not
it is the talent that speaks for itself :)

Haven't time to look at franks post, but wouldn't worry hairybear. Frank LOVES having a dig (hiya frankiepoo *waves and blows kisses* don't be shy there)
Here's a report from a fella!
The big stadium tour was amazingly staged and where I was amazed at his showmanship and confidence and later at other shows by his wit. The music was way behind.
With the new rockier songs and them letting Carl rip, and add Ebow and other effects, I LOVE it. The new show is so good. But Cos I know all the songs now, there doesnt seem to be as many of his performed. It seems too short. Bang bang bang, hit hit hit over.
Compared to casino gigs and outdoor stuff, the production of the music now and the mix is so VERY full and powerful.
Great songs and music now to back his always gobsmacking voice.
But what really sets him apart from other rock shows (and I see a LOT) is his gift of the gab.
He has probably never seen Jon English live, but in his heyday kids, that old fogey was the master of onstage wit.
To compare, I saw Damien Leith this week. Great voice, but the show didnt excite me the same way because poor Damien has not 1/100th of Guys charisma and wit. Rock should be in turns fun and moving and at Guys shows you always get a belly laugh as well as a melancholy tear. That is a rare gift.
And yes, that bloke who reported does in fact see A LOT of gigs. For reasons that are not required here.
Guy Sebastian IS indeed apart from the rest

and (thanks Speck)
People don't KNOW! Even people who are fans don't really know what he can do. I sat with some strangers last night. One of the guys was a big Guy fan already and was talking to his friends about seeing Guy on the Beautiful Life tour, talking about his beliefs and how he admired him for sticking to them, how his BL concert was great, blah, blah, blah. I eventually got included in the conversation and said this was my 7th show, etc.
At the end of the show, even the guy who was already a fan was totally blown after. He just said he had 'no idea' and was really sorry it was the last show. Questions, questions - where does he sing, what does he do...... anyway, I'm sure you get my drift.
Oh, I forgot to mention one of my fave audience moments ever. It happened at Fairfield. Two women dancing very romantically, cheek to cheek, to Angels. Right in front of the stage. Just beautiful. You had to be there. They were so into it.
I know... There are so many Guy fans, somehow just not tuned in..
Mention him.. and they say when's he coming?? All excited. And I say, he's been, and gone. And their faces fall.
What SonyBMG AND Guy AND his Management fail to realise - he has hundreds of thousands of fans - that's why he upset the whole of It Takes Two - they KNOW that, and yet they don't REALISE it properly.
He NEEDS stuff plastered on TV - big ads. If they did that they would be running concerts all the time, because you NEVER go to just one. Just as the fella realised. Like other fellas have realised. Like my (no!!) better half realised. One is not enough.
He needs to be on stage, in a show. This is not 'huff n puff'. It's how he is. A show with a slightly flexible format. If I were (and actually, there's a ton of us) in the same city as the show, I'd be hard put not to get at LEAST a weekly dose. At least.
2 months to our next known gig :mecry: I do NOT count putting his face in the competitions, or using his voice, or face or whatever anywhere as a gig. We NEED his voice, properly.
that's it. We NEED HIS VOICE!!:luxhello:
