I have to say, I'm fairly disappointed with the majority of the auditions so far this season... At least the ones they have shown. Does anyone else feel this way? There hasnt been much talent at all compared to previos seasons and much of the show so far has been the 'freak show' material... Granted, it is entertaining, but for me, it's starting to lose it's appeal. I want to see some really good talented singers... Perhaps I'll just have to wait till everyone is in Hollywood.
I suppose AI is intentionally holding back from showing the talent until Hollywood for all of us to be blown away??... I'm hoping so. In my opinion, there have only been a handfull of people that I have seen that have some serious potential for this season.
The show usually doesn't hold much interest for me anyway till
they get to the top 24.
I think this is the first season where I have actually watched the
entire audition shows...

Yes, the top 24 is where it really starts to get serious... and is also the time I start doing some of the caricatures of the contestants (although there are some now that I could do that would be pretty funny !!)... But it seems that even in previous seasons, they mixed in quite a bit of talent along with the freak shows and it was an even mix... I guess that's the problem now is that it is no longer even with all the goof balls trying to make an appearance...
I've given it some more thought with what is disturbing about it... and I think it is just the people that arent serious at all, wasting everyone's time... There are plenty of bad auditions, and come from people who are serious! They really think they are good, or have been told their whole life thay are good, try their absolute best, and absolutely suck... Take that Phong girl for example. She was serious, she tried, and sucked SO bad that her bad audition was entertaining... She wasnt one of those people in a banana outfit shaking maracas making you wonder 'what the hell are they doing??!!'... They have shown too many of those people.

I am so glad that I am not the only one who hasn't been blown away. No one that we have seen so far has sparked any of interests for me and this is the first time I haven't picked my favorite during auditions. Let's hope Hollywood gives us something to write home about.
This is the first year though that we sat and said about the bad ones..
Okay, that one will be back for the finally...
Anyone else do that? lol

There have been a handfull of good singers in my opinion, like Chris Sligh, and that guy from last night was has been a back up singer... And there was a tiny little girl with a huge voice a couple nights ago... As well as the guy who dropped out in Hollywood after forgetting the words to buttercup last season but came back this season ready. The problem is they're getting overshadowed by the ridiculous stuff and people cant remember them... No one is standing out. Is it because they arent as talented as contestants in the past? Or are they simply getting lost in the mix of freak shows?
Isn't there another one who came back from last season also?

There have been some that came back, but that guy who forgot the words last season is the only one that made it through I think.

I think you got it right when you say that no one is standing out. Because until you mentioned him I totally forgot about the guy who dropped out in Hollywood last year. They are getting lost in the freak shows definetly
I thought there was another one who just made it through that
Simon said he didn't even remember....He said he was forgettable..
and now I can't remember his name.
I guess he must be forgettable, lol

Thank God I'm not the only one thinking that... WHEW...
I can never remember who anyone is till they get down to
the final 12, so I'm really bad.....lol

hahaha...but all of our descriptions are so good we always know who we're talking about... 'that kid that looks like Jack Osbourne', or 'that girl with the high pitched voice that sings in a normal voice', or 'that panther guy'!
We dont need to know names yet! :)

Thank you... It has been awhile... I've been getting geared up for the new season! Havent been too impressed yet though... I have to wait for Hollywood showdown episodes...

I agree. This year the talent pool seems to have dwindled immensely. Even the best ones are just so-so. BTW, welcome back Magic. Long time, no hear from. Are you still making Idol T-Shirts?
