I like FOX. They have issued a press release defending the judges. Good for them. Without the judges freedom of speech, Idol would be half the show it is now.

Of course Fox will defend its Bread and Butter. If they had any morals they'd be kicking Simon's and Paula's butts for their disgusting comments about people's physical appearances. The contest is about singing talent. It's not a Gerry Springer show!

Am I the only one who has not be offended by the comments this year?

No, you're not the only one.

As was stated, they've been doing this for 6 years now (or 6 times at least)... and they've always been 'mean'....

which I consider just being straight with the contestants.

I think a LOT of the people on there are just looking for TV time... the bad ones obviously.

And anybody that goes on the show now and doesn't realize they're going to get ripped if they can't cut it is just not paying attention.

Honestly.. if you're a friend or family member of someone that really can't sing... but you don't dissuade them from 'trying out'.

Then you're as much at fault as Simon or any of the judges if they rip into your friend/family member.

I had a friend back in college who we tried to convince to try out for AI. Not because he was any good but because he was horrible and a complete goof ball. And all we wanted was a real good laugh when he was in front of Simon. He never did go through with it though. But can you imagine how many people probably just go to the auditions for the giggles then get all twisted and mad when they can't take the bad news that they stink. Ok, rambling now.

While I agree that a lot of people do go to get laughed at purposely.... and while some might actually get upset when it does happen.

I also think there are some quite twisted people that continue the charade right out the door... screaming at Simon... yelling at everyone...

just hoping their '15 minutes of fame' is extended.

A couple of the people (and forgive me for not knowing their names) in the past couple of shows just looked ridiculous after they came out... and it just really appeared to me as if they were really playing it up for the camera.

Those are the only ones that I really despise.

The ones that 'think' they are good... and get blasted by the judges. I'm sorry but they make me laugh.

This is true sweet Sadie, a person should never be laughed at for something they can't change.

Why on earth not? These people have access to mirrors. They have ears. They choose to go on television, looking and sounding like they do. They are fair game!

One does not always have control over the way their eyes look or their ears and it's not a nice thing to teach our children to make fun of someone for the way someone else looks! I have been doing a fine job raising my son to give all the kids in his class the same respect.......even the one boy who's mom took off and left his daddy when he was only 2! Left his daddy with a new born as well as 4 other children! This boy comes to school wearing clothes that are dirty and gets made fun of by other children! You are a teacher what do you think of this? Hmmm these kids watch Idol! I live in a small town with about 1,500 people and most families have guns or rifiles......I think the anger could build up so much in this boy he could easily bring one of daddy's weapons to school and take his hurt feelings out on the other children. We need to show love and compassion what ever happened to that! I am so glad that you are not my son's teacher!

Whoa! There is a huge difference between a child who is neglected and a person who, despite their obvious ridiculousness, goes on television just because they want 15 minutes of fame. Perhaps you are having trouble telling the difference.

This is a television show. How dare you judge me, and attack me professionally, for enjoying something just the way it is meant to be enjoyed? If you do not like the way Idol makes fun of people, then perhaps you should not watch it. But do not judge me, and attack my career. I do not have to justify my actions to you, and, as I find very little value to your opinion, I will let it go.
However, do not flame me again.

They all sign releases before they appear on the show. Everything is fair game. This is what "WE ALL" want to see. The less fortunate criticized by the Judges for our entertainment. It makes us feel superior. If America was truly "Outraged" by this behavior, we wouldn't watch. Do you think that it's an accident that Fox's A.I. had it largest premiere ratings numbers this year?

It's what we want, it's what we like, it's why we watch Baby!!!!!!!!!

Kenneth Briggs & Jonathan Jayne From American Idol Appear On Jimmy Kimmel Live Reality TV Magazine By Joe Reality 1/19/2007 23:17 PM read

Kenneth & Jonathan’s new found fame earned them a guest appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show on Friday, January 18, 2007. Kenneth & Jonathan revealed that they met while standing out in the rain at 5 o’clock in the morning for the second audition, and they hit it off instantly.

Kenneth Briggs told Jimmy Kimmel that going in front of the judges was the third part in the American Idol audition process. Kenneth said “The third one was Simon. Then came Simon, a guy who I really, really do not like.” When Jimmy Kimmel asked Jonathan Jayne if Simon Cowell insulted him as well, Jonathan said “Oh, not as much, it was Randy that really insulted me, he laughed through my whole song, he was laughing at me.”

Kenneth added “As I walk in, Simon prepares to compare me to a baboon, I mean…” Jimmy Kimmel then held up a picture of a bush baby with Simon Cowell’s head and said “Who looks like the bush baby now, right here?” Kenneth also talked about how when he watched it on TV he saw how Paula Abdul laughed about what Simon Cowell said after he left the room. Kenneth said if he saw Simon Cowell again that he would ask him for an apology for what he said. At the end of the interview, Jimmy Kimmel invited Kenneth and Jonathan to the Bob Hope Classic celebrity golf tournament in Palm Springs to interview celebrities for him.

That's right. Remember, this is American Idol. A show where people get laughed at. Whether it's their looks, accent, intelligence, singing, whatever. Remember, alot of people made fun of Elliott's teeth last year. It just comes with the territory.

When Simon said the guy looked like a "bush baby", I freakin' lost it. That was one of the funniest things I've heard in a while. I have a feeling that that's not the first time that guy has ever been called that, and it didn't look like it fazed him much. He was more disappointed that they didn't like his singing.

You're a teacher, Feisty? If you don't mind me asking - What grade level do you teach? Public or private school? Just wondering.
