I personally don't like Simon, but I guess he does add a little nastiness and humor to the show. If one had to go, it would have to be him, but if he stays, it's okay by me. He can humor me all he wants.

Well, He is obviously there for a reason. Simon is the one that is hiring these people. So he does have a say on who he wants to stay or go!

I really hate the argument that if he can't sing he has no right to be criticizing singers. Film critics don't necessarily direct, casting directors don't usually act, producers don't actually direct or act, but they all do there jobs fine.

I think Simon is overly harsh, but that's the draw for at least half the audience. Same reason The Weakest Link was popular - the show sucked - people loved the mean old lady running things.

Yes, I too hate Simons attitude. But he makes the show because everyone talks about him.I think it is part of the act. He is soooo rude to the people this season. He makes me want to throw up. I really wish Paula would slap him in the face when he acts like a big jerk.

Simon is a pro. He is good at what he does and although he is rarther rude, he does know his stuff. It must be pretty hard to have to sit there day in and day out in the auditions and listen to people that have utterly convinced themselves that they can sing! Sometimes a few home truths are needed, and there is no-one better at that than Simon Cowell. Long live Simon!

You're kidding, right? The reason that he works so well as a judge is that IT IS HIS JOB! That's what he does for a living and he must have been doing something right. He's a professional (when it comes to judging musical talent), all the other stuff is "bonus hype" material. That's a great money-maker for the sponsors: Coca Cola, Ford and Cingular Wireless (the fact that I even know who they are brings in revenue in some form). I think Simon is just matter-of-fact and some people (viewers) construe his comments as rude or harsh. Face it, everyone is different, we all have different jobs to do... Simon is just doing his [job]. And, to use an old cliche, "That's Entertainment!".

Simon Rules! He's harsh but honest and he's a straight shooter... Paula is dishonest and I think thats the worst crime!

Simon owns the record company that normally signs the winner ...He actually brings more to the table than Randy or Paula because he has more to gain or lose than them, This is the biggest reason why he seems so harsh at times. Wouldnt you be more critical if your money was being invested wouldnt you also want more bang for your money?As far as Judging...Randy has a pretty good ear for music but no one and I truely mean NO ONE has a better ear and eye for OVERALL TALENT Than Simon......Paula on the other hands can just take a sedative and go to sleep..enough said.

Simon for the most part is the only judge who is totally honest, and sometimes the truth hurts. I don't get Paula at all, I am sure she is a nice lady, doesn't want to appear to be harsh but she is a JUDGE, I think she forgets that. Randy is getting worse, he use to base it on voice now he is all over the board like Paula. Simon keeps it real. I don't care hot cute a contestent is and has pinchable cheeks, if they can't sing the judges should be saying so. Simon has to stay !!!! It would be a "utter mess" if he left the show !!!
