View Full Version : Ditka: Football Psychic or what?

So I usually listen to the first quarter of MNF on AM radio on the way home from work. Each week, Ditka reveals his pick to win. He's missed one in like the last 37 matchups. Is that crazy? He picked Philly to win last night. When Carolina was ahead near the end, I though, man Ditka's streak is gonna come to an end.

That man is a football genius. He usually reveals his pick about 10 minutes to game time. I'm calling my bookie next week.

No, he didn't make any specific prediction, but I think he did say he thought right now the Saints are the best team in the NFC and the Chargers are the best team in the AFC. Is that an early prediction? Who knows... with a few games left, anything can happen. I actually happen to agree with him, so I'm really worried about the 'boys this week. The 'boys look pretty good, and have done really well since making the QB switch. But the Saints are very solid. Reggie Bush seems almost unstoppable. He's a huge weapon for that team (as a rusher and as a receiver). This game isn't as important as last week's against the Giants, at least in terms of getting into the playoffs, but a win over the Saints could cast off any doubts or uncertainties about how good the 'boys really are.

I predict the Cowboys will go 2-2 in the next four games, giving them a 10-6 record.

Yeah and it was just last week he said the boys were the best in the NFC over da Bears. Not sure why he switched this week, they're both 8-4 and da Boys had a much tougher game than da Aints last week with da Aints playing a pretty crappy 49er team. They're schedule is super weak, and they got beat by the Steelers, Cats, Bengals and RAvens, every single good team on their schedule, which was only the Bengals and RAvens beat them. Da boys have this game.

That's because the Cowboys were the flavor of the week. Now, the media will pick a new flavor to hype. First it was the Panthers, then the Giants, then the Bears, then the Cowboys. I predict that Seattle or Philly will be the next flavor to be hyped up.

I have faith that the Bears defense will take the Cowboys, turn them upside down, and shake that star off their helmet.

Da boys have a good D too, thats all da Bears have is a D and some special teams.

That's all we need. You can't win, if you don't score. We also have two pretty good running backs too. Personally, I'm a little skeptical of Tony Romo. I don't think he's the second coming of Tom Brady. He didn't look all that great in that Giants game, and the Giants defense stinks. I think once teams start studying more film on Romo, he won't be as good as ESPN has hyped him up to be.

now wait a second... how can the Bears D stop the Cowboys D? remember, you DO have Grossman on the Bears, so the Cowboys will have plenty of opportunity to score defensively. assuming the two teams meet in the playoffs of course. lol.

And really, you have to admit... the toughest offense the Bears have faced so far this year is the Giants, and they were able to score 20 points. And they're a pretty shaky offense right now. They drove the bears down to within scoring range 6 times, scored two TD's and two FG's and missed two FG's. Sure the Pats have a tough offense too, and the Bears did well to keep them to just two TD's and a FG in that Bears loss. But look at the other ten games this season. Weak offenses. I think the Cowboys offense is much more dangerous because Romo can read and spread the ball out.

There's no denying, the Bears D is pretty good, but I'd like to see how they'd match up against an offense playing as well as the Cowboys are playing right now.

So much for that great Cowboys defense y'all were talking about. They gave up 42 points to the Saints. Ouch!

For one thing, Romo was forced to stay in the pocket, which caused alot of problems for him because he's kinda short and he couldn't see alot of his receivers.

Sean Payton pretty much knew what Dallas was going to do because he used to be Parcells' assistant, so he was ready for them.

Crazy week in the NFL. Indianapolis got crushed. Bills killed the Jets. I might have suspected Dallas had a chance of losing to the Saints, but not that badly. Looks like I'm gonna finish 4th for the regular season of my fantasy league. Even though they won, Atlanta was terrible yesterday too (against Tampa). Who would've thought that? I still have Torry Holt and Robbie Gould tonight, but my opponent this week has Mark Bulger and St. Louis' kicker.

So whatever Torry Holt does tonight will basically be meaningless since Bulger throws to him (unless Urlacher finds Bulger's bruised ribs and crushes them - I'm hoping so).

I'm 10 points down right now. If Holt gains 100 yards receiving, Bulger will get 5 points and Holt will get 10 points. Bulger/Holt TD's are meaningless. So that means it will come down to our kickers. Unless Bulger has a good night with other receivers (i.e Bruce). But let's just hope Urlacher helps me out a little... very early in the game.

If I lose tonight, I have to play the 12-2 first place guy next week. If I lose that one (assuming I will), then I get to play the same guy as this week again for the third place finish.
