The new Survivor starts tomorrow night, woo hoooo! Looks like they are trying to be real controversial this time around seperating the tribes on racial grounds, apparently there is going to be a all White Group, all African-American, all Asian-American and Hispanic-American, I am assuming they are hyphen American, maybe, maybe not on that, not sure. But anyway, just glad the new one begins.

I am looking forward to the new Survivor.......Last Year was the lowest rated ever!! Maybe they are hoping for bringing up the ratings. I am certain it won't stay seperated on based on races.........

I am thinking though that I heard that although they had LOWER ratings than before that it was still the #1 reality show, probably not counting AI, and that may have been the year before, I'm not sure. It does seem this new gimmick is designed to bring up ratings.

After watching the show I realized just how skewed they could really make it and taint each race if they wanted too, by putting for example a bunch of losers into one race and a bunch of winners into another. It looked fairly evened out, but 2 tribes had 3 girls, 2 had 2, I think. But could be skewed too if you put real athletic girls in a tribe and real whimpy girls in another and same with the guys. Although the Asian team won, i am thinking the Hispanic team may look the strongest. The white and black team both seemed to have pretty much "city" girls that don't look like they are in their element at all. If you had a shopping contest they may do good, but out in the wild, I doubt it. Right now I'm betting the Hispanic tribe, maybe the Asian tribe, will come out on top before a merge. The white tribe looked pretty weak as well as the black tribe, I'm betting they will be the bottom 2.

I agree, I was disappointed with the women on the black tribe. They should have kept the men they only had 2 now they are down to one which makes them even weaker. I was shocked.

I agree the guy they threw the challenge to get rid of was their weakest link, didn't lift a finger to help at camp and was dead weight, but throwing a challenge that early is pretty dumb. They were winning with him and the numbers going into the merge mean everything. They could have gotten rid of him when and if they ever legitimately lost a challenge. Now the Asians and Whites are going to have an advantage as long as they keep winning. The black and hispanic tribes are already at a big disadvantage now with the numbers. I thought that the hispanic tribe may win going into it now its completely in doubt. The whites and the asians have the upper hand at this point.

And could someone answer me this. What kind of idiot goes on survivor, yes the show is called SURVIVOR, without knowing a thing about surviving in the wild, such as how to make fire. The poor city kids that got in the Black tribe had no clue as to anything. You would think they would study up on such things before they left.

I don't think it was wise to separate the cultures that way. Some people will take it to extreme. Others will say "oh, it was fixed" I don't see any good coming out of this.

However, my bet is on the Hispanic's!

Yeah, but that producer really knows how to get ratings and its working. I really don't see the problem with it. I think too many people take the race issue wayyyyyy too seriously. And its mainly in America, you go to Austrailia or somewheres and they are not near as up tight about it as we are. It seems everyone has such a chip on their shoulder about it here. But thats what they're hoping for is some controversy. Nothing like some controversy to get ratings.

Myself I would never go on Survivor. No bed for my back. No pillow for my head. Bugs biting me. No real food to cook with. No way!!I agree the hispanics made a mistake last night. I look forward to next week. I hope it will be a good episode. I think the reason why they did this with the races being seperate is because Survivor had the worst ratings ever last year.......they had to do something to bring the ratings back up.

Me too, I don't even like to camp outside let alone rough it like they do. It just trips me out to still see city peeps go on there with no clue as to what its all about after what 9 seasons? Idiots. Oh I didn't know I was going to have to know how to start a fire without a lighter? Duhhhhhhh.

Well I thought that was pretty lame to merge the tribes so soon. They make such a big deal about the whole racial segregation thing then 2 weeks in do the merge, thats lame. They should have stretched it out at least another 2 or 3 weeks. I don't like the new tribes either. I liked it much better broken down by race, made things a lot more interesting, now its just kind of lame to me.

I was shocked to see taht they had already merged the 2 tribes also! We were at soccer practice and missed the 1st 15 minutes. They should have stretched it out another 3 weeks at least!

I think they were honestly worried about the backlash... which was pretty ridiculous.

I couldn't believe all the people that were saying how bad it was.. and that GM felt the need to pull their sponsorship as well.

I didn't hear about GM, I was thinking though, thats kinda like getting alittle bit pregnant. If you announce that you are going to segregate by race, you've already done what may "offend" some peeps even if you go immediately into a merge, so why not stretch it out. Your probably right though, they probably thought they were playing it safer by merging sooner.

I think the show really illustrated how peeps are really alike no matter what the race. You had the gay asian guy, that could just as well be black white or hispanic. The annoying border line crazy asian guy that could just as well be whatever. The city girly black girls that don't have a clue about camping that could have just as easily been a white/asian/hispanic girl. It kind a proved the point that were all pretty much the same no matter what race, and its all about who has the best brains, no matter what your skin color is. They could have picked all stupid peeps for one race and all smart for others to skew the results if they wanted too, but it would not have proved that one race was superior or inferior to the next. I think Survivor has almost run it's course and will be over soon enough. People are just not interested anymore. it's the same old same old. Maybe if they put the people in a remote part of Alaska or something i don't know......

Not counting Guatamala, they really haven't done any other countries since Africa and Austraila. I think the North pole would be great. Outer Mongolia. Madagascar would be awesome. I like the islands a lot but it would be great to see them mix it up. I doubt if Survivor is going anywhere for at least another 3 or 4 seasons, but I could be wrong. I'm thinking the ratings are still strong, just not ridiculous like it used to be.

Exactly, why not put the survivors to a real test of survival? Make them build igloos, go ice fishing, battle hypothermia... It would make an interesting show from the survival aspect, but honestly, I think that would kill the ratings. No more guys with abs like Terrell Owens, no more hot girls in skimpy bikinis, and really what good would they be at challenges? I'd watch it to see how they handle the cold, but they wouldn't be able to do that type of region more than once. I don't think Jeff would care much for hosting a show in that type of region either.

Yes I agree there are no doubt differences and big differences between all the races, I was just talking about brain power wise, race doesn't really matter that much.

And yes you guys are right about the artic thing, I didn't really think about it, but I almost bet you now that that is why they are always doing tropical locales to keep the girls in their bikinis (I can't believe I didn't think of that!)

And why I'm at it, what's up with all of the contestants in general? Can I have at least 1 interesting person, not counting cowboy, who is a freak, I grant you that. But other than cowboy, these people are about as interesting as a case of the mongolian flu. You would think they at a minimum could do a little better job in casting. Other than cowboy and maybe and I stress maybe, the one older white guy, there's not an interesting person in the mix. I could walk into any Wal-Mart in the country and in 1 hour pick a cooler more interesting bunch than this. Now theres an easy job for ya. Casting director. What a joke.

At least give me some hot girls. They usually have done a good job in that category in the past, especially last years winner, but not this year.
