THE lure of spending more time in Melbourne with her rubgy League-playing boyfriend, Chris Walker, was enough of an incentive for silver Logie winner Kate Ritchie to sign on to Channel 7's new celebrity singing series.
The show, It Takes Two, will be filmed live in Melbourne and will go to air from Sunday, May 28.
Ritchie and Walker, who made a glam couple on the red carpet at the Logies on Sunday, have been dating for several years. The pair have been juggling a long-distance relationship this year, with Walker based in Melbourne playing for the Storm and Ritchie filming Home and Away in Sydney.
It Takes Two however will bridge the gap between the couple.
"We are (very happy) and to be honest this is a fantastic opportunity because it means I will be spending a bit more time in Melbourne with him," Ritchie said.
"It (the long-distance relationship) has been so much easier than we expected.
"He is (playing) in Sydney a lot of the time. It actually has worked out surprisingly well."
Ritchie said signing on to It Takes Two did not mean she was looking to move out of Summer Bay.
Ritchie will be joined by serial reality TV contestant Kate Fischer, cricketer Michael Bevan, former Foxtel host Erika Heynatz and media identity Richard Zachariah as confirmed celebrity singers.
Home and Away's Judy Nunn is understood to be ready to sing up a storm. Other celebrity singers believed to be attached to the show are former swimmer Sarah Ryan, Simon Reeves and former Brisbane Lions player Richard Champion.
Australian Idol graduates Paulini and Guy Sebastian will be joined by songbird Wendy Matthews, accomplished stage performer Rachael Beck and country star Troy Cassar-Daley as part of the team of professional performers guiding the celebrities.
Former Little River band frontman Glenn Shorrock is also believed to be involved as a talent shaper, as is Dave Gleeson of Screaming Jets fame. Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock guru Ross Wilson is understood to have been approached to be a judge, although it is not known if he has accepted.

tiny update. SOmeone has contacted his Manager, David but all he will say is that Guy is extremely happy with the partner he's chosen and they are in rehearsal.
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e20/kaz1055/nick%20awards/nicks.jpg
I don't think some still reallise what this means. To put it into context
A month before the final in 2003 - Guy was waaay out in front on the bookies, and when the group attended the Aria awards he received HUGE cheers - which were noted by the media and commented on as in - if cheering and applause was anything to go by, they might as well give him the crown now.
And we get him again now, on tv.
At the worlds, 3 judges commented on his charisma and stage presence, others praised him - even Simon Cowell was lavish (for him) and just called him odd looking (with the huge and fuzzy afro - Guy'd done his hair himself, and it DID show) but had also at the same time mentioned that they needed unique people. The outcome of that part. show was not a real indication of what was being thought around the world (I know, because I went EVERYWHERE, just lurking).
The TV camera loves Guy, his personality just shines thru, he has an absolute natural talent for movement with music - its a 'dance' thing, in that his 'lines' are perfect and rhythm - he's just not dancing as it is known. He's quick witted, with a great sense of dry humour which tends to leave people hanging for a second, he's brought the comedians down on occasion!!
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a217/gorjusgrl/nick%20awards/nick9.jpg
And he sings, with a splendid maturity. He is I think one of the best live artists I've seen - he picks up the buzz from the audience and sends out buzz bits himself, and the whole grows until the whole place is happening.
I really, really can't wait. is it 13 days to go?

Guy Sebastian has lost the 'fro for a new reality TV show.
Take two for Guy
18may06
HE'S been in the wilderness for a while and the famous 'fro is gone, but Adelaide sweetheart Guy Sebastian is back - on TV.
The original Australian Idol winner has signed on to the new Channel 7 singing show It Takes Two.
Sebastian refused to be a part of the show a couple of times before meeting with Seven boss David Leckie, who convinced him to take part.
He will be paired with a mystery celebrity, teaching them to sing and performing duets each week.
"I was very scared to be honest," he says. "I was a little worried about what everybody would think, the media and stuff, but thought the positives outweigh the negatives."
The meeting with Leckie changed that, and with the backing of record company Sony BMG he signed up.
This follows the recording and release of his new album.
Guy has been writing songs but admits for a while he struggled with motivation.
"For ages I wasn't in a good way in my head and creative space and I went through a few personal things and the songs just didn't come," he says.
He said one aspect of the reality shows he didn't appreciate was the unnecessary ridicule.
"I think people deserve a little respect," he said. "I remember doing a lot of youth work, and I just know some people when you say stuff it's can stick with them for life.
"When it's on television it's a million times worse."
Well said, Guy.

Another interview - although as its by Luke dennehy I think its an old interview, just happens to be printed today
here is an interview with Guy in Saturdays Melbourne Herald Sun: smile.gif smile.gif
Singer Guy Sebastian has been in the wilderness for more than a year, writing plenty of songs for his next album. Sebastian has just signed on to It Takes Two - Channel 7's new show that pairs celebreties with singers. Each week culiminates in a sing-off.
Luke Dennehy: It's been a while since you have done promotion. How does it feel?
Guy: It's weird. The other day at Channel 7 it was very strange to be doing photo shoots again. Just posing for photos took a while to get used to.
Have you enjoyed your break from the spotlight?
I have, but I'm super keen to get back into it. It's been a big break.
Why did you want to do It Takes Two? Did you have any reservations?
Yes, I turned it down a couple of times, I was very scared to be honest, quite scared of getting back into TV land. I had all the reservations, especially with the media. They definately will say all sorts of things about me doing a TV show again. But people from the show sat down with me and told me about the spirit of the show, and they met all my concerns. I didn't want to be a contestant as such. I don't mind mentoring a contestant and being part of teaching them. I didn't want to be part of a show that ridiculed people, either.
This show sounds more like a variety show.
Yeah, reality television is Big Brother. But I think with this show you get entertainers on stage. In this arena it's like getting 10 singers up there doing what they do. It is not as if the cameras are following our real lives. The show is a bit different, going by what they were telling me and what I saw of the BBC show. It's going to be super entertainment.
Any thoughts on Australian Idol?
I am never going to escape the fact I was on a reality TV show. People say you have moved away, but that's not my objective. Idol is how I got my record deal, and that's just the way it is. I am not ashamed of it. I can't be bothered with people who criticise it.
How's the new album coming along?
I'm pretty much done. I had a writing session yesterday. I hooked up with Ray from Thirsty Merc and I reckon it will be good.

Dance star on a high with new show
By Scott Ellis
May 21, 2006
DANCING With The Stars winner Grant Denyer has been named the host of Seven's newest reality/celebrity outing, It Takes Two.
The Sunrise weather reporter will host Dancing With The Stars' vocal counterpart, in which celebrities paired with professional singers compete against each other.
"It's another step up obviously and I'm really looking forward to getting under way," Denyer said.
"There's something magical to be involved in the highest rating television show in Australia and anything that is going to come close to that will be so special.
"It Takes Two is just a terrific return to family value variety television.
"It's got music, it's got drama, it has costumes, it has humour.
"I just think it's a piece in the television pie that's been missing for a long time."
A sports journalist at Prime Television and Channel Ten before joining Seven in 2003, Denyer is a rising racing car driver and will compete with the **** Johnson Racing team in V8 Supercars at Bathurst this year.
Seven fast-tracked Denyer into the hosting role after viewer polls during the run of Dancing With The Stars showed he had quickly become one of the most recognised and popular faces on screen.
Celebrities and singers named to compete in It Takes Two include cricketer Michael Bevan, models Erika Heynatz and Kate Fischer, AFL player Richard Champion, and singers Troy Cassar-Daly and Guy Sebastian.
"This is my first chance to host a massive project by myself," Denyer said.
"A career can go as quickly as it comes. If you don't maximise your opportunities then someone else will come along and take them, so it's all about doing the best you can with what you've got."
It Takes Two is scheduled to go to air each Sunday at 6.30pm from next week.

More than 2.6 million people tuned into the finale of Seven's hit Dancing with the Stars, which means new series It Takes Two has some big shoes to fill.
Based on the BBC format Just The Two of Us, celebrities are paired with famous singers for a "duet-singing showdown", a sort of TV event-style Karaoke with the Stars.
Given the significant role that Dancing with the Stars has played in Seven's spectacular return to ratings form this year, head of program development Brad Lyons concedes there is a lot at stake.
"When it's as competitive as it is now, every show is under the microscope and every show is being looked at," he says. "We don't push out any program without a great deal of hope.
"I don't say there is anything more riding on this than there was on other things we've put out there but we think, based on our success in this area, that people will come and have a look."
A celebrity singing series has been on the radar at Seven since Dancing with the Stars was launched in 2004. The BBC format, which expanded the idea by pairing celebrities with professional singers, hit the mark, Lyons says. "That really took it to another level, so we got quite excited about it."
The 10 celebrities are cricketer Michael Bevan, broadcaster Richard Zachariah, news anchor Simon Reeve, AFL footballer Richard Champion, actors Judy Nunn, Kate Fischer, Mark Furze and Kate Ritchie, former model Erica Heynatz and Olympic swimmer Sarah Ryan.
Unlike their Dancing with the Stars counterparts, the celebrities in It Takes Two come with, at the very least, the ability to sing.
"Some of them are better than others, but we've been told by the best in the business that they've all got trainable voices," Lyons says.
They will be paired with 10 professional singers: Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian and runner-up Paulini, Little River Band frontman Glenn Shorrock, country singer Troy Cassar-Daly, Screaming Jets frontman Dave Gleeson, opera singer Dave Hobson, ARIA-winner Wendy Matthews, R&B singer Jade Macrae, musical theatre star Rachael Beck and former Young Talent Time postergirl Karen Knowles.
The series has a double attraction for viewers; celebrities learning to sing, then singing, which is amusing in itself, but perhaps even more fascinating is the known singers stepping out of their well-established genres.
Gleeson doing a musical theatre showstopper? Knowles rocking out?
"They will have to cover every genre from pop to rock to country to musicals, so seeing Dave Gleeson do a saccharine sweet musical is going to be fun," Lyons says. "That's part of the challenge and they're all up for it." Sunrise weatherman (and Dancing with the Stars winner) Grant Denyer and actress-presenter Terasa Livingstone will host the series. The judges are music producer Amanda Pelman, radio broadcaster and former musician James Valentine, musical theatre stalwart Marina Prior and respected music veteran Ross Wilson.
"They have to have a real knowledge of the subject," Lyons says of the judging panel. "You can't just put someone up for freak value, so one of the things we were very rigorous about was that when the judges spoke they came from a place you would respect. Our judges have had years in the music business and they have a good sense of humour."
It Takes Two airs on Sunday at 6.30pm.

More re judges
this is just a titbit
"Structured on a similar format to the Seven smash hit Dancing With the Stars, It Takes Two is a live entertainment show featuring 10 non-singing celebrities, paired with 10 of Australia's finest singers.
Signed up is professional country singer, Troy Casser-Daly; Australian Idol superstar Guy Sebastian and former Little River Band lead singer, Glenn Shorrock.
Non-singers include cricket champion Michael Bevan, Home and Away star Kate Ritchie and TV presenter Erika Heynatz.
Pelman will be joined on the judging panel by singing sensation Marina Prior, musician and Sydney ABC radio presenter James Valentine and music veteran Ross Wilson.
Sunrise weatherman Grant Denyer will host.
Ahead of its Sunday May 28 premiere at 6.30pm (AEST), Pelman says the show takes stars out of their comfort zones.
"They will sing all genres and the idea of watching Glenn Shorrock singing opera is one thing I can't wait for," she laughed."

Take two for Terasa
24may06
TERASA
Livingstone has been plucked from her new Hollywood life to co-host Channel 7's upcoming series, It Takes Two (dubbed a singing version of Dancing With The Stars).
The former Agro's Cartoon Connection presenter, who has spent the past six years in tinseltown, will share hosting duties with Dancing With The Stars winner Grant Denyer.
While the show is due to air on Sunday, the fast pace in which the show has been put together means the pair are still yet to meet.
"We will have to meet for a cup of coffee soon," laughs Terasa.
"I think it will be mysterious pairings right across the board."
The show pulls together 10 celebs and 10 crooners in duets, including Adelaide's Guy Sebastian.
It's a long way from Hollywood for Terasa, who has been doing umpteen guest appearance roles on TV shows, including Lost.

Punters are already placing bets on who will win the Seven Network's new celebrity-teamed show It Takes Two.
The show pairs celebrities not known for singing with some of Australia's finest vocalists.
According to Sportingbet Australia, the odds are on television personality Erika Heynatz at $3.60 to win the series.
Heynatz, who hosted two series of Foxtel's Next Top Model and sang up a storm on the reality show earlier this year, leads the charge.
She is listed ahead of Home and Away hunk Mark Furze, at $4.80, and fellow cast member Kate Ritchie, at $5.
Richard Zachariah, a columnist and broadcaster, has been placed as less likely to take the title, coming in at $26.
Structured on a similar format to the Seven's smash hit Dancing With the Stars, It Takes Two is a live show featuring 10 non-singing celebrities and 10 of Australia's finest singers.
Signed up is country singer, Troy Cassar-Daly; Australian Idol superstar Guy Sebastian and former Hey Dad star Rachael Beck.
Non-singers include cricket champion Michael Bevan, model Kate Fischer and former Home and Away actor-turned-author Judy Nunn.
Talent scout Amanda Pelman, singing sensation Marina Prior, musician and Sydney ABC radio presenter James Valentine and music veteran Ross Wilson will judge.
It Takes Two premieres on May 28, with Sunrise weatherman Grant Denyer as host

Will viewers Take to Celebrity Singing?
Author: eNews staff and agencies | May 25, 2006, 14:58
Can Guy climb a new mountain?
The Seven Network launches its latest celebrity program, It Takes Two, this Sunday evening at 6.30 pm, but that may not solve the network's inability to win a Sunday night from Nine.
Seven has struggled for at least three years to find a solution to its underperformance on Sunday nights.
Movies were tried and didn't work, comedy (Let Loose Live) briefly in May-June 2005, came and went in a couple of weeks. All just didn't cut the mustard.
Seven has had some success with the odd special, but for the most part it has been a benefit for Nine with CSI and Ten with Big Brother, Idol and The Biggest Loser
The only way for Seven to do well on Sunday nights will be to find some serious programming for the 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm timeslots, which Nine now dominates with 60 Minutes and CSI (but that is going to run out sometime in late July).
Ten does well with programs like Big Brother (and hopes to with the new series of Australian Idol later this year).
But apart from the success of Where Are They Now at 6.30 pm, Seven has no real hits to grab viewers after around 7.30 pm.
It Takes Two is down to run Two hours for the first episode. But it won't say if it will stay at two hours, like its 'mentor' Dancing With The Stars.
If it rates it will, if it’s only a moderate success, it will go to an hour.
Dancing With The Stars is sourced from the BBC but produced here by Granada. It Takes Two will be produced here by Seven and BBC World. Granada has been left out by the Beeb which is upset at Granada's links to ITV in the UK with a Dancing clone called Torvill and dean's Dancing on Ice.
It's coming to Nine soon.
Even if It Takes Two does good numbers, Seven is only replacing the ratings for the now finished Where Are They with viewers for the new program. It needs to find new viewers from 7.30 onwards, and then from 8.30 pm onwards.
Nine's Backyard Blitz (Sundays 6.30 pm) might find it a bit tougher to attract viewers on a Sunday night once It takes Two starts (that's if it clicks).
Blitz is looking a wee bit shaky after its exile (unfairly) to the wilds of Friday night in the oddest programming move this year. It was replaced by Clever, which is being 'rested'. Buried in a lead-lined casket more likely!
Sunday June 11 however will see Seven having a half decent stab at winning the night when the Australia-England Rugby test will be broadcast live that evening from Brisbane.
It's a bit of an experiment but one that might just click with viewers.

Guy Sebastian - Biography
Pop Singer, Songwriter, Idol Superstar
Guy Sebastian started singing at the age of fourteen, and with no formal training, became the lead singer of a christian youth conference band called Planetshakers. The band, part of the Paradise Community Church, saw him travel Australia and the United States.
From here Guy became a singing teacher, sharing his passion and love for singing with others.
From such humble beginnings, Guy won the hearts of Australians with his uniqueness, versatility, incredible vocals and world class performances displayed during 'Australian Idol'. Guy won the first Australian Idol competition in 2003, beating Shannon Noll.
His first solo single 'Angels Brought Me Here' debuted at number one and was the fastest selling Australian single in ARIA chart history having sold triple platinum status in its first week of sale. The smash hit single reached Number 1 in four Asian countries and New Zealand and Guy was subsequently invited to sing as a guest at American Idol in 2004.
Guy’s debut album 'Just as I Am' also went six times Platinum and garnered him another Number 1 single – 'All I need is You'.
His successful follow up album 'Beautiful Life' went Double Platinum earning him another Number 1 single 'Out With My Baby', which also scored him a 2005 MTV AVMA for Best Pop Video and two additional Top 20 hits 'Oh Oh' and 'Kryptonite'.
Guy has a reputation as a singer of rare quality and he is currently in the studio working on his much anticipated third album.
Let’s hope Guy’s passion and teaching skills can assist his IT TAKES TWO student – otherwise a higher influence might be called upon.

over 200 people in the audience and most of
them were yelling as loud as us. When we all
went down to the stage area everyone just
flocked around Guy. It's amazing how
popular he still is even though he has been
out of the public limelight for a long time.
It was very interesting having that great
view of the backstage area. We could see
everyone getting ready to go and and pacing
around nervously. Guy and Sarah were not
looking nervous just practising their ABBA
moves

IS WHERE THE LATEST IS FOR DOWNLOAD - DANCING QUEEN
ANother comment from another happy fan after Last Sunday
I so enjoyed the show this week, I think Guy
himself was much more relaxed about the whole
thing and just having fun...look at that
smile on his face!!! The audience
particiption was fantastic, everyone just
loved them...and afterwards, wow , I think
he's just such a magnet, people can't
stay away from him, everyone loves him, makes
me so happy to see..
I would love to know what the producers are
making of it all..I reckon they are rubbing
their hands in glee, ......
-------------
that is a problem though - its so over the top that the others involved may be getting a bit upset. Not sure how one can cope with that.
Oh, for those who downloaded the clip from IT2 episode 2 (Dancing Queen) - and saw the haircut and heard Guy's reason! LOL.
He's had the short haircut since around January 26, 2006 - but kept it hidden under hats. NOW we have the unveiling, surely single can't be too far away. As for his explanation given on IT2 that's just his sense of humour. Very dry and usually really quick.
Can't wait for the new music it MUST be coming out shortly. But I think they might wait until he and Sarah hit a huge and popular song. Wonder when that will happen?

found another site advertising IT2
wo of the most popular Australian Idol contestants have jumped back into reality TV with channel 7(Prime) airing an Australian version of the BBC format Just The Two Of Us.
The basic concept to It Takes Two is quite simple, 10 professional music singers are paired up with 10 celebrities to sing as a duet with different themes each week, to compete against others & to raise fund for their chosen chairites.
I am very interested in this concept however, although Guy & Paulini have experienced this sort of game concept before, their partners are a bit from the musical lifestyle. We have Guy Sebastian paired up with Former Olympic Swimmer Sarah Ryan & Paulini paired up with Sunrise's Weekend New Presenter Simon Reeve! Do these 2 duos have what it takes to take oiut the title of the first series of It Takes Two?

for those who've done the downloads - you will know how interested we will be for the next episode (speedos = swimming)
========================================
Ryan, Sebastian pool resources for singing show.
Former Olympic swimmer Sarah Ryan is out of her natural element singing
in front of the nation, and yesturday her on-screen partner Guy Sebastian
plunged into a little of her world in Canberra.
Sebastian donned goggles and flippers and swam with Ryan at the Kings
Macgregor swim school as the pair filmed a segment for the new celebrity
show It Takes Two. "So how do you do butterfly? Seriously" he asked.
Ryan was impressed by his performance in the pool. "He actually did really
well," she said "I dove in and had a look and he was up with me so I had to
turn it on."
Sebastian has become equally impressed with Ryan's singing. "She's seriously
doing very well" he said.
The first winner of Australian Idol Sebastian said he had years of experience before entering the competition. "So I guess I was at least half ready for Idol whereas Sarah hasn't been ready at all," he said. "She's suddenly propelled herself from an amazing elite athlete to singing, not just at the local school but in front of 2 million people with cameras and an audience and lights."
Ryan said with a laugh, "I thought karaoke prepared me quite well." The pair
are amoung the serious contenders to win the show which teams professional
singers with untrained celebrities to belt out a tune together each week.
Despite living in different cities (Sebastian is in Sydney) and having limited rehearsal time, the pair has found an easy rapport. "I think we're quite alike, not really afraid of what people think," Sebastian said.
Ryan is, through the show, supporting Multiple Sclerosis Australia after her
father, Alan, died as a result of the disease in 1998.
"I just hope I can raise alot of money for them" she said. Sebastian said "I know Sarah's working really hard, so I hope Sarah wins."
and with a pic, although taken not at a great angle. Guy looks almost thin and he's not. He has the broadest of shoulders and big chest cage.

The judging tonight has been a leeetle strange. The top scorers for the evening, Erika and David - they sang everything but 2 lines together. In other words, the celeb hardly did a thing, nor did she prove she lifted at all. And I'm a fan of hers. The boards are in a uproar LOL.
Guy is keeping it 'Sarah's growth", and she did a beautiful job. Can't help missing his 'power lifts' and he is undersinging to show Sarah and what she can do, while most of the other singers are showing what THEY can do.
And only occasionally are the judges realising and judging this point.
Its beginning to look like the general consensus of the judges might be the overall performance (celeb and singer), rather than the singer's journey. In Dancing With the Stars there was often criticism that the celeb. didn't do enough dancing and the performance hung on the prof. dancer's performance.
HERE - there is a definite undercurrent of the singer being a huge major factor when judging.
Not sure whether Guy will give in to this, or continue with Sarah's growth and battle with her nerves. My guess is? He's a pure sportsman too and a bit contrary - I THINK he might like to take the whole lot and show a huge performance but with Sarah still as the 'main man'.

On meeting him you would never notice them (well, yes you'd notice the lips because as someone said, when in quiet repose as it were, they're like a cherubs)
He's beautiful - absolutely - in the most sexy masculine way possible.
Didn't I put it here?

Mish's quick report from the Queen Victoria in Melbourne - last minute thing from It Takes Two - Sarah singing in public (training )
My goodness... the opening to "Oh Oh" was UNBELIEVABLE!!! Guy wildly just released these incredible improvisations & spun them like i've never heard him spin notes B4. man, that man's vocals have matured yet again! then halfway thru the song he was SCATTING... yes scatting. sounded amazing!!
he just sang "I Wouldn't Trade This Love" which was really good also. he's gunna sing a new song off the album too. it'd be awesome if they're all recording this stuff... "Oh Oh" was by far a classic!
SARAH is gunna sing, yay! they're doing their Abba cover "Dancing Queen". their harmonizing is getting even better again smile.gif
Let's Stay Together with Garry was incredible. It looked like thousands turned up (considering the last minute advertising - like last night on IT boards and only this morning on the radio and newspaper - who forgot to put a time !!)

Guy says its about the nicest tv show he's been on the producers are really great. The singers are all sort of mates, Sarah's training was mainly singing underwater during training (the last song n the way to the pool is the one that stays in your mind for the next 2 hours at training).
And that she took up the show thinking it was a terrific chance with a huge band, good fun, great singers - and then about 5 minutes before she was to go out and sing it HIT HER!!!!!!! Just what she was doing. In front of millions.

GUY Sebastian has a new love in his life. The Idol winner hasn't broken up with his design student girlfriend Julie Egan - he's bought an adorable puppy. Guy spotted Donny, the black spoodle, at a pet shop on the Gold Coast and went back the next day to buy him.
However, since the It Takes Two star has been away from his Sydney home filming the show in Melbourne, Julie has been taking care of the pup.
"I just fell in love with him, I miss him," admits Guy.
The R&B performer's ITT partner, retired swimmer Sarah Ryan, also has a new little guy in her life.
Eight-month-old son Riley has been jet setting across the country, following his singing star Mum. "He's getting on planes a lot and he came to one of the early shows but fell asleep," Sarah says.
The former South Australian girl says she is loving motherhood, but between Riley, ITT and managing a new public swimming pool in Canberra, she isn't getting much sleep.
Guy also has been busy, spending a total of just 40 minutes at home last week.
After putting his $1.1 million mansion in Palm Beach on the market two weeks ago, his hectic schedule simply means: "I haven't been home so I haven't had to clean it again for an open inspection".
Meanwhile, after a bit of a mental block, Guy tells us his creative juices are flowing again.
He's finished writing (and is now recording) his next album, which he expects to be out in a couple of months.

GUY SEBASTIAN - AN Extraordinary Man in every way
Remember Mark Holden's comments (asked after he had judged 2 lots of Australian Idol AND the Xfactor - who had impressed him the most)
? and how Guy would take extraordinary risks?
Singing One right at this time, with Mary's version on the charts, was another
of those 'extraordinary' times.
No safe stuff for Guy. I guess he wanted to do it, and so they did.
I so wish ... one day... that he gets another chance to sing these beautiful covers.
There's really very other little chance I can see of him doing these, so THANKS, IT TAKES TWO and whomever talked him into doing it.

Guy has the flu!!! ! I think he was so sick he wasn't holding back, just plain out and out singing. It was said if it had been his own concert he would have pulled the plug, but it was this TV series and duets, so he didn't, he didn't sort of 'energise' over the stage as he usually did
BUT
What beautiful tones (as we normally get in a concert but haven't been hearing in this series) Marina's comments was that "I hate you that you can sing like that with the flu!!!"
And Sarah did a fabulous job too. Elite athletes always rise to the occasion

From The Drop Off on the official forum.
I know she'd be thrilled to know it is posted here too
Hi guys,
Well today I took my little nephew to his Karate lesson, and I was sitting at a table with about 15 different mums and dads and the topic of IT2 came up...
I sat quietly, really interested in what they had to say as non Forum Guy fans......I am usually wearing rose coloured glasses where Guy is concerned so I wanted to just hear what the general chat out and about was like, and it was really, really eye opening
“Guy is too popular to be on the show”.....”it's not fair”…”he has too big a fan base”….”this show is clearly not going to be about the best singer”….”Guy will win because he is soooo popular”…..”I feel sorry for the others, they don’t stand a chance against someone like guy Sebastian”.....They all commented on how the others get a clap......and when Guy's name is ‘even’ mentioned there are screams and hysteria because he is so popular. A few of the girls imitated the fans that were screaming and it made me laugh! Everyone was laughing about HOW popular he was……..and I said nothing…just laughed and listened.
Then the conversation went on to say that he has ‘too huge a fan base’, and he was ‘too big for the show’, and they think ‘it gives Sarah too big an advantage’....blah de blah
Then one mum went on to say........it's like having Kylie M on the show........it's just not balanced.
Now some of you might feel you need to jump to his defense or take this as negative....but I actually see it as quite the opposite.
He has set himself apart from the rest....he is considered too good for the show.....and certainly 100 times better than any of the others that are considered to be iconic people in the Australian music scene ......
I think it's nothing but positive for Guy......and if this show has achieved what I think is very important for Guy, and that's simply that the rest of Australia see he is not like anyone else, and he is not only a little ahead of the rest....but in fact, he is far far far ahead of the others....and a show like this is SOOOOOO amateur for someone of his status in the industry...then it has been a wonderful venture for him.......
and who cares if they think it's unfair...I bet before the show they didn't think that.....now they actually know how popular and how superb he is!
Yay for Guy..........we should always trust Guy's journey......
In a way...I think it is even more important that he gets Sarah through (with his wonderful teaching skills and his popularity)........and How amazing for him to win and have all of Australia say.....ya know...he was too good for that show...it's not fair!
How exciting!
Yup - if I put the whole of each episode here it would certainly show. There are cheers, sometimes really good cheers and clapping etc.
And then
there are screams 'and hysteria' and standing ovations for Guy

Don't Know Much
Sunday was "let's love Guy Sebastian" night
Larry Emdur (host for just that night, as Grant went car racing)
made mention of Guy's two major Urban Music Awards
Sarah comments - "how can you not get excited when you get to sing such a beautiful song - and with this man!!"
Terasa (hostess with Grant) - "He's a gorgeous man isn't he?!!"
James Livingstone - ".... singing with one of the great singers of the day!"
and finally
Larry again - "One day I hope you get to hear Guy Sebastian doing Aaron Neville doing Kermit the Frog! It's the koolest thing you'll ever hear!!!
and Guy was shown screaming with his guitar on stage at the Urban Awards, and playing the grand piano with Sarah, during rehearsals. (We just haven't seen him entertaiing the crew on the drums during rehearsals, but mention was made last week. However, he DID do a great thrum on the table top a la bongos!)

irate comments on It Takes Two included having 'unknown singers' next time - and NOT SUPERSTARS LIKE GUY SEBASTIAN.
Yep, we know that (superstar). That's why Ch. 7 worked so hard to get him to agree to do it. MANY calls, MUCH pressure, and finally a call-in by the VERY BIGWIGS!!
But looked what it achieved. HUGE audiences, topping almost every Sunday listing - and growing. Now they have a huge, successful series
and its all thanks to Guy and his incredible talent, and audience appeal.
The other singers, I might add, were and are fantastic. They each have their own following, etc.
It's just that Guy has this HUGE superstar appeal, and the TV peeps know it.

From Speck on the OF
Closest workmate mentioned that she saw Guy's 7 ad and that he sounded and looked nice. She doesn't watch ITT and has only ever seen/heard snippets of Guy. She's into classical music, opera and musicals. She does occasionally ask who got dropped from the show, but she's not interested enough to watch it herself.
I thought she might like his voice on Don't Know Much, so she sat in my chair wearing my headphones while I went for a coffee.
I came back and she's still sitting in my chair, hands folded in lap (as she does) ... "Oh my goodness, I had no idea, that's so wonderful, so much feeling in his voice, and the orchestra ..." you know the sort of thing.
So there's another convert.
----------------------
I've got hooked on both from last Sunday, Baby Baby one more time - Brittany, (so much fun and he's such a natural stage user) and Dont Know Much. Sarah is so natural too. They both look intensely in love, singing that.

SARAH INTERVIEW ON ADELAIDE RADIO TODAY (still hoping for download)
http://i2.tinypic.com/23kuhpw.gif
Sarah Interview with Kym, Ali and Dzelde Mix 102.3 Adelaide
D: On Sunday night she’s in the Grand Final of Channel Sevens It Takes Two taking on Erika Heynatz and ah Opera Boy, please welcome Sarah Ryan,
A: Yehhhhh…
D: Good morning Sarah
S: Thank you for that wonderful welcome
D: Oh, that’s OK
K: Not a problem but can we clear something up because Ali referred to Opera Boy as Opera Boy the other day - what’s his name David
Everyone: David, David Hobson
A: But Opera Boy is better
D: Hey Sarah, are you pinching yourself to find yourself at this stage of the game
S: Oh, absolutely, I certainly didn’t think I’d be in the grand final so it’s been a great ride and I’m very much looking forward to the final
A: Well we’ve been cheering for you cause you are our South Aussie … but I have to ask you this Sarah because you are like a fish out of water, you haven’t done this before, do you actually watch your performances and watch the TV show back.
S: No. Do you know Ali, I haven’t watched any of them because I didn’t want to spook myself until the last episode and I just wanted to watch it back because everyone was telling me what Grant and Terasa’s reaction was when they looked at the names that made it through and so I had to watch it back so I actually yeh, I don’t really think I’m that great a singer – I certainly don’t like listening to myself
K: No, well as you know the judges have said that you don’t get your pitch right from time to time and I’m certainly not qualified Sarah, but apart from that you do have some real natural talent – you’ve got a beautiful voice
A: And you’re very confident too and you go out there and give it a whack and I think that that’s what people like
S: Oh well that’s what you got to do, you can’t hold back can you otherwise what’s the point of doing the show
D: Is it intimidating standing next to someone like Guy Sebastian who is really an awesome singer –
S: it was
D: ah, obviously you rehearse with him and obviously you’ve got a friendship there but do you ever find yourself listening to him and going “Oh, he’s really good”
S: Absolutely, you know I do that still, after 10 weeks of hanging out with him I’m still in awe of his talent, he is just sensational, like we do a bit of practice in the studio he just sits at the piano and tinkers away and it sounds gorgeous, he just oozes this talent that I don’t understand because I don’t have any ability in music, my world is completely different with swimming
A: Well Sarah, take him down to the local pool, he won’t even be able to get a cap over that hair of his, you’ll be away
S: We did, we did after the 3rd or 4th show we had a swim at the the pool that I work at and we actually had a race and he did alright – he’s not a bad little swimmer.
K: Well he loves his footy, he likes his sport, and has he been a delight to work with?
S: He has been and he’s a South Australian – it’s a good connection
A: Yes…
S: And he’s so sweet, like we had to sort of get to know each other the first few weeks and sort of sus out how we, how we operate and so he was always very positive and with his comments I suppose and now he’s starting to be a little, a little bitter harder on me – which is good, I needed it – and we had a lot of laughs I’ve really, I’ve really enjoyed the time I’ve spent working with him
K: Any chance of romance
S: Noooo, shut up I’m married
D: Okay Sarah, okay what do you gotta do on Sunday night – is it 412 different songs, what’s the go
S: It almost is you know. We’re doing 4 songs, and ah 2 are from the past so we’ve done them before which is good so we only have to learn 2 new ones, and I’m loving eh, actually one of them is Kylie so that’s great, great fun
D: Oh cool
D: We wish you the very best along with the rest of South Australia, Sarah it’s been fun to watch, and you’ve done a really good job. So we’ll be behind you on Sunday night - actually we’ll be on the couch watching it on Sunday night and wishing you all the very best
S: Oh thank you and Guy and myself are very appreciative to everyone in Adelaide for their support - thank you
D: Oh we love you guys
A&K: yehhhh
D: Good on you Sarah, Sarah Ryan on It Takes Two the big grand final on Sunday night
D: Let’s give her a small round of applause.

Swim champ laps up TV race
Luke Dennehy
August 05, 2006 12:00am
Article from:
SHE conquered the pool and now, even surprising herself, Sarah Ryan looks set to do the same thing on the television stage.
The Olympic gold medallist has gained confidence the past few weeks on It Takes Two, and told the Herald Sun she wouldn't mind extending her time on TV.
"I've always been interested in the media, in particular sport, so we'll see what happens," Ryan said.
In the meantime, she will go back to working at Kings Swim centre in Canberra with husband Gus Kingsell.
Despite criticism that she is one of the weakest singers on It Takes Two, thanks to steady improvement and the mentoring of Guy Sebastian, the couple could very well win the final tomorrow night.
All they have to do is conquer model Erika Heynatz and her partner, opera singer David Hobson.
Ryan can not say enough good things about Sebastian, the former Australian Idol winner who will soon put out a long-awaited album.
"He is totally unaffected by his television journey," she said. "The way he goes about mentoring me is very positive and gracious and kind."
Sebastian is just as supportive of his partner.
"I don't think people understand how hard it is to physically give it your all and go for the huge notes when you haven't had the practice or training to know what will come out," he said.

This is Sarah's opposition and the reason why we are voting madly. The original concept was "take celebrities out of their comfort zone and get them to do something they've never done before, sing in front of the public and on television"
Erika is streets ahead of the others with experience & training
Erika's online CV (which was taken offline this week- it was supplied by her agent)
2003 - 2005 Vocal tuition - Michael C Smith
2002 Performance Craft for Singers, Music Fundamentals - Sydney Conservatorium of Music
Vocal Tuition - Michael C Smith
2000 On camera connections
Acting for Camera with Sandra Lee Patterson
Mark Williams - Vocal Training
1999 AADA & Comedy School, Camera Acting Course
On Camera Connections, Presenters Course
Jaan School of Singing, Vocal Training
& this............ from an interview
Tell us about your background Erika.
A: After completing high school in Victoria, I studied graphic design at a university in Brisbane for three years.
I began modelling during this time and eventually moved to Sydney to model full time.
During the following five years I worked on commercials, advertising campaigns, television drama, telemovies and feature films.
I also studied acting, presenting, music theory, singing, video and music editing.
& this
More recently, she sang a song of her own on Top Model, wowed the crowd with her ability at the NW Oscars party in March and performed at Mardi Gras this year.
It's also no secret Heynatz has also tried to land a record deal, co-writing with producers and laying down demo tracks two years ago.
-----------
On the 'removed' CV I also noted numerous hosting events, numerous public speaking events, and several corporate do's (singing?)

okay, the votes are in and as we (hoped) suspected, Erika and David have won. It would have looked strange had they not, because Erika is a very good singer and great looker. Its just she's had some 5 years odd of experience, is all. However, it made the series look good and that's fine by me.
Guy sang 5 songs all up, including a solo "Taller, Stronger, Better" and I must say that THIS IS AN ANTHEM!!!! Totally amazing, totally inspiring.
So of course it won't be on here until it's brought out for a while, on an album . Sorry kiddos. I'll let you know as soon as its hit Itunes, and you can paypal from your country - here, its $1.69 Australian, so it will be peanuts over there.

And from Australia's Herald Sun - national TV Guide, which ran a critique on the finale of It Takes Two
Guy bits (thanks to Donnabella)
---------
I hope someone can scan it later - it's not in the online issue yet so I can't copy it over.
In the meantime, Guy mentions are:
------------------------
..Also for the second series (and the show performed well enough to ensure there will be another), Seven cannot have someone with the popularity of Guy Sebastian on the show. Yes, he brought viewers to the program, performed superbly, was a wonderful mentor and enriched each episode with his presence. But he is one of Australia's most popular male singers and, as such, was always going to make the final because of his appeal.
Compounding the problem was the fact he partnered Sarah Ryan, who consistently sang flat, a fact ignored by viewers because of the strength of Sebastian's personal popularity. ...
Though Sebastian was a superb contributor, Seven can't have him as a singing partner if the show is to ensure it maintains its credibility. He is simply too popular.
----------------
SOOOO right (although I disagree re "all the time" for Sarah.)
Unfortunately - you never got to hear the whole - but if you did you would notice there were cheers and loud applause for everyone
and then Guy came on with Sarah and there was
Guydenodium!!!!
The screams, the cheers - as he sings some of the songs you can hear.

Hi guys just been reading the TV week and they did an interview on Mark Furze bout his singing career. quest. "have u had any record companies interested in signing you after it takes two?" No record companies but alot of help from the musical director and Guy Sebastian, whos a friend of mine, hes offered to help me out. Quest. "so would Guy work in a production capacity?" Yeah, hes just great and he knows exactly what hes doing, so any help i get will be great!" ( well hows that for glowing references!! )
