To call last night performances and Idol wannabes mediocre last night would be an insult to mediocre singers in Kareokee bars all over the country. Practically every performance was average at best. Kat's 2nd performance was the best but still SLIGHTLY above average. And I stress SLIGHTLY. Chris' 1st performance was decent and I'm probably being too generious there. I am beginning to think that anyone who gives a flying @#$% about these Idols all live in cities and towns that do not have Kareokee bars. I only know about 3 or 4 rock singers in my own small home town that could out sing Chris on a bad night. I have completely re-evaluted my attitude with Chris. I was originally pulling for him to win being the only rocker, but he is an average singer at best. There is absolutely NOTHING special about him. Kat is the best but still no super star. Her first performance pretty much sucked dog @#$%. This year's idols for the most part suck in my opinion. And that's all it is, but anything more and you are being too generous with this group. Just glad I'm not the producer that has to put out a CD for one of these losers that you could take practically anyone else in the country and do the same for. Sorry but that's the bottom line. Just glad we weren't subjected to the brady bunch sing along last night, for that would have been un-bearable. But we will probably have to suffer through that tonight. I will again record the show in advance so I can do as much fast forwarding as possible. That was the only way I kept from falling asleep.

I agree with you on Kat and Chris. Kat's first song totally sucked last night. I don't really like the way Chris sings. "Renegade" was one of my favorite songs growing up, but I thought his version was just "so-so". I think Paris is trying to lose. She could've picked something alot better than "Kiss". That performance was kinda boring. Elliott is good guy, but I'm really tired of that song, "On Broadway". It's really been played out on AI. I really enjoyed Taylor's performance. I didn't think he'd pull off "Something", but he did it.
Not having watched AI until this year, I'm not quite so tired of "On Broadway". I liked Elliott's vocals, but not the arrangement. Then again, the tunes were cut so short I'm sure it was hard to get a good pattern that was significantly different than the original. Only song of the first group that was good was Chris' rendition of "Renegade", but that was just okay. Kat's first song was bad, but I'm unsure if that was due to her or the fact that the band was worse on that than any of the singers were on any of theirs.
Of the second songs, Elliott and Kat were good. Kat's version showed her having fun. She looked like she enjoyed that and I think it transferred okay. Whoever is the vocal coach for Chris should be slapped for letting him sing that second song five times in one day.
The judges were horrible this episode. I don't think I heard one bit of constructive criticism the entire night. Then again, that could have been because the whole night bored me. I went to walk the dog before it was over so I missed the end. Didn't hear Taylor sing at all.

That's a shame. Taylor was one of the reasons I didn't fall asleep! But I totally agree with everything you said, X1.

I just don't get this, is Taylor mildly entertaining in the same manner a circus freak is, yes, maybe, is he entertaining as a singer, not unless you have been deaf all of your life and you just had a successful operation restoring your hearing. I am judging these losers by what I can see in my own home town, and I am telling you they are ALL lucky to even be there. This sorry sack of %$#@ competition has become about luck, not talent. Sorry, I know I'm not very smooth.

I think I found what Mandisa has chosen to do, post A.I.

Getting back to Taylor, I'm waiting for the National Cerebral Palsey Foundation to write to the producers complaining that they are tired of Taylor making fun of people with the disease each time he dances.

Remember the Seinfeld episode with Elaine "dancing" that's exactly what he reminds me of.
