View Full Version : I think Chris pretty much locked up this year's title last night...

It's is still a two horse race but Katherine did herself no favors by completely botching Phil Collins' "Against All Odds" and then crawling around stage during her second song pretending to be one of those homeless people with no legs who wheel themselves around town on little carts. And anyone worried that "Kat" (as her adoring fans like to call her) was getting a little thin can put those concerns aside. If she gets any bigger she can play Kristie Alley's sister on "Fat Actress" after she gets voted off.
Chris nailed his first song Styx's "Renegade" but was just okay with his second number. But it doesn't matter, he's really the only remaining contestant who might actually be worth paying to see. (Notice I said might be worth paying to see, none of this year's group is worth writing home about.) This is definitely now his competition to lose.
What in the world was Paris Bennett thinking by selecting a Prince song to perform? And the song "KISS" no less. Talk about a reach. And she did no better with the Mary J. Blige tune either. Say goodnite Paris; it is your turn to go home.
Elliott was awful tonite although (unfortunately) he may live to sing another week. And Simon was absolutely right, how stupid to sing songs with lyrics which include "They say that I won't last too long on Broadway," and "I want to go home" several times. Paging Dr. Freud, Dr. Freud please pick up an American Idol courtersy phone.
Is there anyone who doesn't think Taylor has become a parody of himself? The rolling around on stage is something you might expect to see in comedy sketch---and a not very good one at that. He'll survive, only because the night was full of so many uneven performances, but I am no longer sure he will outlast Elliott. There's just so many times that you can come across as a drunken karaoke singer before America will declare "enough is enough".

I can't wait to get home from a long night at work at the hospital so I can see the show on my TiVo. I am excited that everyone sucked except my boyfriend. He is so great! So will it be Paris leaving us this week? It sounds like it. Bye bye minnie mouse!

not quite sure you understand how big of a following Taylor has and i think he did great, really entertaining show. Chris also did a great job good vocals he picked the perfect song the first go around second song was a terrible choice i think your right about Paris

The "ladies" need to go. This is the year for one of the guys... I think it will get down to Taylor and Chris - or should, anyway. Two totally different personalities, voice styles, etc... I would and will buy either of their CD's when the come out. Paris can sing, but I can't get past her speaking voice and babydoll looks. Katherine butchered her first song and I don't remember what she sang for her second song because I was to busy trying to figure out why she was doing a lap dance on American Idol! All I kept thinking was "GET UP!!!" "GET UP!!!" As far as Taylor and his dancing, I love it. It is totally unique and he is not afraid to be himself - regardless of how "off the wall" it is. The falling on the floor at the end of his first song was, I must admit, a little strange - even for Taylor, but part of his "act" is dancing and entertaining while he sings! Good for him. Loved his second song choice, too. Thought it was hot. Chris' first song was right on the money. His second would have been ok, but his voice was giving out and it didn't come across well at all. Love Elliot, but he won't make it to the end.
So! Hopefully, goodbye Paris or Katherine tonight.

I don't think Elliott was that awful. I liked his Michael Buble song, and "I want to go home" is part of the lyrics. Simon was just picking on him. Chris did well the first song, but then the second was too screechy. Paris did fine, although I'm not familiar with those songs. Kat's first song wasn't hot, but her second number showed another side of her. Finally Taylor was all funky and getting down to the music. Did you expect him to stand still while performing that song? His second song highlighted his vocal ability. His performance tonight was like going to the gym--you work out, then cool down. WAY TO GO TAYLOR---YOU GAVE 'EM SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT!!!

I pretty much agree with False other than I think he was probably being TOO generous, especially in regards to Chris. I have said all I'm going to say on last nights dibocle in my new thread.

I don't think Chris has locked up anything. Not everybody is into screaming. His version of "Renegade" was okay, but his second performance totally sucked.
Katherine really blew it on the first song, but I enjoyed her second performance.
Elliott might have done well enough to hang around another week, but that's about it. If he survives this week, he'll probably be gone next week.
Taylor rocked the house last night. I was real nervous at the beginning of "Something", but he pulled it off in a Joe Cocker kind of way.
I'm afraid this might be it for Paris. Her version of Kiss was weak and her second performance was good, but not good enough to put her over the top.

Chris did the first number well but tried too hard on the second number.
Elliott was suprisingly good both times, even though the judges didn't come to an unanimous decision on his first song.
Paris picked the wrong songs for both rounds. There was nothing wrong with her voice.
Katharine's stylised version of Phil Collins' Against All Odds would surely elicit some mixed reviews but she does sound better on a second hearing. Her second number was great. There was nothing wrong with singing on her knees. That song was rendered quite well. I found to be almost flawless.
Taylor picked the hot dance numbers for the two rounds. The second one went down better with me. It was Something by the Beatles. Simon was right, with certain songs, Taylor does sound better. He's a great entertainer.

I agree on the whole, but personally I don't think I "enjoyed" any aspect of last night. And I think Taylor was his usual average kareokee/lounge singer act. At this point I am only tuning in to see who wins, because I have a slight bit of curiosity left on this thing, ever so slight. Still think Kat will probably win at this point, even though she sucked it up last night. This is definitely the worst idol ever.

I know you're punking me, I know you probably think i'm an Ozzy fan, but I recognize he aint' the best vocalist to ever come down the pike by a long shot, just liked some of the Sabbath and Randy Rhoads stuff, lost interest after Randy died.

Chris, Kat, and Elliot are still the best up there. Paris can sing, but no one will ever take her serious. Tayler can probably make it in Vegas for the rest of his life. Maybe not a headliner, but close. He gets annoying. Last night those top three all blew one song. They all pretty much rocked on the other. I'm surprised no one here thinks that this is really the best top 5 we've had. Anyone think the other AI's had a better top 5?

Yes MusicLover, as far as actual singing talent, I really think this 5 are the best ever. I do think on the other AI's they got rid of some good talent way early, but not on this one. The 5 left are actually the 5 that should be there.

I think the point is he sucked, and he's a joke, I thought he did fall down on one song again, he knows he's a mediocre singer that's why he attempts to do all of these rediculous "antics" that i guess he thinks are cute and entertaining. But he ain't. He's a lucky punk, that's lucky to be there. I personally think the reason he has so much "fan" support is he has a rich daddy that's organizing a massive internet campaign to like he's mediocre talented son.
