Guy had already made it known through another interview, on being asked, that he was prepared to wait for marriage, in line with his Church's views and his own.

He has had the most beautiful blonde girlfriend since late teens, except for a year or so in between, when they broke up. Jules is now living in Sydney, much to both their happiness.

I still can't believe we're gonna have Guy on TV for sooooo long. He's just awesome on TV - he's a bit of a comedian - and the series will be spectacular - its really just what he's best at..... We can't believe it - - tons in the media but now we have to wait to find out who (he's partnered with) and when it starts.

And - his partner? She will be a PUDDLE!!!!! Honestly, he's the most incredible looking piece of humanity I've ever seen, in the flesh - photos NEVER do him justice. Uniquely sensual but with this incredible warmth - I remember Shannon saying on the Idol tour in 2004 - "he's just a chick magnet!!"

Just a normal guy

GUY Sebastian's fans might think the chart - topping warbler with the wobbly hair is Superman.
But the talented singer crowned the first Australian Idol last year firmly wears his jocks on the inside of his strides.
And he keeps them on.
The 23-year-old is happy to admit he's a virgin.
He has worshipped at Adelaide's pentecostal Paradise Community Church for 10 years and the hearlding hairdo is holding out
until the wedding bells sound. Sebastian, a household name in most Australian houses with a television, has no need of false tags.
He wears his own brand happily and scratches his head at the thought of possible stage names.
"Perhaps Shannon Noll," he laughs, "Maybe Clark Kent?"
The good natured singer, a poster boy for his church, presents a squeky clean image.
Sebastian comes across as kind of pure. His voice is considered pure magic to some. But does he sin? And how badly?
Well, he lusts, he's taken drugs and his he's gorged. He's also happy to talk about it.
The Australian Idol, who tonight finishes the Melbourne leg of his first national tour, is straight-forward
and prepared to tackle the Seven Deadly Sins head on.

PRIDE
In the past year Sebastian has been told how great he is - often Fans love him and they refuse to let him hide his light under a bushel.
They put it on high beam, with him centre stage. But Sebastian reckons he's not one to give in to pride.
"A lot of people can sometimes suck up to you and all your fans are telling you that your great.
But it's a matter of not getting carried away," he says.
"Some pride is good. I'm proud of my voice.
I'm proud of the talent God's given me but there are good engineers and good knitters and good cricket players.
I'm just a good singer."

ENVY
A couple of years ago Sebastian was a medical radiation student at university. Now he's a household name in Australia.
There's been no go-slow for the boy with the 'fro. Many might envy his rapid rise to fame.
The bloke beneath the hair admits the grass can sometimes grow greener on the other side of the fence
but he knows he's fortunate."We all dream to have a house on the waterfront.
I guess where I was before, it kind of makes me appreciate what i have now," he says.
I didn't have money before, I was pretty poor . . . now, I'm just stoked to have some cash."

GLUTTONY
Sebastian puts up his hand to this sin it comes to dishes of delight.
"I'm big on gluttony as far as food goes but otherwise i'm OK," he says.
"I love my curry and then secondly, maybe, cheescake."

LUST
Yes this Australian Idol will cop to lusting. And as a 23-year-old virgin, he's got plenty to lust about.
"I guess we all have lust," "he says. "I'm a boy and I lust, just like everyone else.
"It's tough but lust is something that gets everyone into trouble sometimes."

ANGER

Sebastian reckons it takes a bit to rile him. He pretty placid until injustice rears its head and then his wrath rises.
"There are certain things that get me very angry, like i guess when people just choose to hate people for no apparent reason,"
the pop star says. "And reporters saying bad things about me." We laugh politely.
The newspaper dosen't want to trigger a fury of temper down the phone lines while discussing anger.
It's time to move on to . . .

GREED
What does Sebastian covet? According to him, not a lot.
"I guess everyone has an element of greed to them. I wouldn't say i'm greedy once again execpt where food is concerned" he says.
"But otherwise, i'm not that greedy. The way i've been raised, well, raised to be quite generous.
I give most of my stuff away. I buy people more stuff than myself."

SLOTH
Sloth is all about avoiding physical or spiritual work. Whichever way you look at it, Sebastian the sloth dosen't wash
for a bloke who has played strongly with sporting and spiritual sides.
"I've played indoor cricket for the last 11 years," he says."Seven Honks and a Black Man, that's the team's name."
Add in the Aussie rules and dedication to the Paradise Community Church and Sebastian avoids the sloth tag ably.
Sebastian says the petecostal church, which boasts Family First co-founder Ashley Evans as a senior pastor,
helped shaped the person he is today. He's worshipped there for a decade and he's happy to be it's poster boy.
It's formulated who i am as a person, the way I deal with things, the way i treat peole and the way i've been brought up,"
Sebastian says. Sebastian a singing teacher before Australian Idol took over, hates drugs.
He's anti-drug to his eye teeth despite admitting to minor experimentation in past years.
I have taken them - not like hard-core drugs," he says. I've tried them with my borther.
We grew up in a kind of slightly rowdy neighbourhood in Adeliade but it (drugs) never took off with me."
But he's glad in one way that he expirimented it's given him a first-hand stand to base an opinion on.
He's also watched drugs ruin mates' lives.Sebastian remembers a school friend he used to compete against for top marks at school.
"Then suddenly drugs entered and it all went downhill from then," he says of the student.
". . . I could see how drugs had affected my friend and totally changed the direction of his life. Drugs are powerful things.
They seem good 'for the moment' but people don't realise they are addictive - it's not just the drug that's physically addictive
but the lifestyle you can addicted to."
Sebastian's life changed when the Australian Idol freight-train of fame stopped at his station. He's happy he climbed aboard.
"I've embraced my new life but i definitely moss my old life too, " he says.
"But life is where you are at the present and at the present i'm the first Australian Idol.
With that comes recoginition, and with that comes a lot of great things and a lot of hard things."
He knows he's still a tall poppy and he's felt the effects of the fame game.
"You face getting cut down all the time," he admits. But he's still growing.
Just look at his hair and his record sales.

Guy Sebastian Chats About 'Taller, Stronger, Better'

On the eve of a fresh single release from our first Australian Idol, Guy Sebastian chats to the Australian Idol website about his growth as a songwriter, Idol 2006 and the single that proves he really is Taller, Stronger, Better.

He seems to be the perfect all-rounder, but a candid Guy Sebastian admits that even a chart-topping star can become disillusioned. For Guy, the writing process leading up to the release of Taller, Stronger, Better was a turning point in his career as the artist rediscovered his love for the craft.

“I hadn’t released an album for nearly two years and I guess I put a lot of pressure on myself,” Guy explains. “I’d written for about a year and a half, and I didn’t like any of it. As a songwriter, you listen to your work and you think ‘I love how that sounds’ but I’d write stuff and I wouldn’t even listen to it because it just depressed me. I was defeated.”

Faced with a potentially devastating writers block, Guy was in a flux. It was an anxious time in the life of a man who lives and breathes original music. How could Guy find the spark that had powered a brilliant career and produced 2 outstanding albums?

“I was hanging out with some of the best songwriters in the world. A lot of them can have a mentality where they just churn it out. It was starting to feel like work to me. I just turned it around and got that love for it again. Not to sound arrogant, but I just feel like I’m such a better songwriter. I know it sounds self-indulgent, but I listen to it (the album) all the time, and I feel proud of it”.

Having cleared a major hurdle as an artist, Guy co-wrote the tune that many are calling ‘the song of the year’. Taller, Stronger, Better is more than a song to Guy; it’s an insightful memento of his comeback as a songwriter; the rediscovery of his love for writing.

“It’s a time we can all relate to,” Guy says. “Because nearly everybody has gone through stuff and thought they’d never get over it. You know how you get stuck in the trap of thinking you’re never going to get out of it, and then you realise ‘I’m grateful that I went through that because it actually taught me a lot, and now I’m a better person’.”

After recording the new single, it was time to reveal the obvious hit to the masses, but Guy underestimated the emotions associated with the song and live performances of Taller, Stronger, Better became memorable experiences, as the former Australian Idol explains:

“It was probably the most nervous I’ve ever been. I debuted the song on a TV show a few weeks ago and I’ve never been so emotional. I’m not really that emotional as a bloke and I don’t know why, but I was fighting back the tears. It encapsulated so much of the last year of making the album and the opposition I’d faced.”

Satisfied with his current purple patch as a songwriter and recording artist, Guy speaks candidly about the incredible pool of talent gathered for the Australian Idol Finals this year. But the quality of contestants makes it difficult to choose a personal favourite.

“This year’s been amazing!” he says. “I liked Nathaniel – I liked his tone. I really dig the Irish fellow, Damien. Dean’s got the whole package. His voice doesn’t blow me away but as far as a package goes, he’s just got it all. The chicks love him. I also like Courtney’s brother, Chris. I thought Lisa would do amazingly well. She’s so talented but she’s quite specifically talented. I just think it’s the best talent out of any Idol ever.”

That’s quite a claim considering the quality of performers that Guy shared the Idol stage with during the first series. I wonder if he’s being humble, but the established artist is philosophical as he recalls the series that launched his solo career.

“It’s just like anything; the first time will always have a certain type of innocence about it because none of us knew what we were doing,” he admits, laughing as he remembers his Idol experience. “I’d never heard of Idol and I’d never tried out for a show like that. I thought I’d have to have blue eyes and blonde hair and look a certain way, but it ended up being a special show. Everything’s got its critics but I’m proud to be a part of Idol and I’m proud that people accepted me through that format. It gave me my life today.”

As he prepares for the release of Taller, Stronger, Better (this Saturday!), prepare to see plenty of Guy Sebastian on Australian Idol and here on the website. On Saturday, September 16, Guy will be signing copies of his new single (released that day) at The Muses (Tea Tree Plus Shopping Centre, Modbury, Adelaide). Make sure you get there at 1pm to beat the rush!

On Thursday, September 21, Guy will perform 3 songs (including his new single) on the centre stage, Level 1 of the Highpoint Shopping Centre in Melbourne. Guy’s performance starts at 4pm. Don’t be late!

GUY Sebastian, the Australian Idol winner, has admitted abuse from
the public made him consider quitting the limelight.

Sebastian said his Sydney house had been pelted with eggs and his car
covered with offensive graffiti.

"Someone spray-painted the word 'faggot' on my car," Sebastian said.

"I grew up playing footy, I worked as a forklift driver at a
warehouse in Adelaide.

"I move to Sydney and become a singer and suddenly I was a pansy.

"Thirty per cent of my friends are gay. There are probably ruder
words they could write I wouldn't find as offensive."

Sebastian – who is still involved with girlfriend Jules Egan – said
the negativity hit while he was struggling to finish his third album,
missing several record company deadlines.

"Ninety-five per cent of people you meet are beautiful and say nice
things: then there's always that 5 per cent of people who are
destructive and want to rip you down," Sebastian said.

"They just have to say bad stuff to you like: `You're a has-been'
. . . really rude stuff.

"My house was getting egged: I was getting abused in the street.

"Your friends hear the same thing. They call and say: `You haven't
released anything for a while: are you bringing anything out soon?'

"It was all adding up."

Sebastian was sent overseas to work with international songwriters
and ended up scrapping a whole album's worth of material.

"I was thinking: `I don't know if the record company is going to
release this'," he said.

Sebastian said his strong Christian faith helped him through his dark
times.

"I guess I've got a bit of an advantage there over someone without a
belief structure," he said.

Sebastian said his crisis of confidence ended when he wrote his new
single, Taller, Stronger, Better, while filming reality show It Takes
Two.

"It's very inspirational, very anthemic. It's almost going back to
the Angels Brought Me Here vibe," Sebastian said of his record-
breaking debut single. "However, the rest of the new album is more
pop/rock."

Sebastian is famously waiting to consummate his relationship with Ms
Egan.

"I've got no regrets about telling people I'm a virgin," Sebastian
said.

"For someone who doesn't get what we believe it's very hard to
understand.

"Every bloke, including myself, is dying to have sex. Dying.

"But it's just a matter of controlling the physical and our faith."

Sebastian performs and signs copies of Taller, Stronger, Better at
Highpoint shopping centre from 4pm today.

Guy is sooo tired. the girls have been txting us on the cell phone. He's been doing promotions everywhere and Saturday did CD Live, major charity ball Saturday night, Hillsong church special Sunday (today for us) but his alarm didn't wake him.

Flew down to Melbourne (only just over an hour) to rehearse, sound check, and go on in two concerts with The Young Divas - he gets slotted beautifully into the middle so each of 'em do 4 in a set.
