Well I think it is clear now that AI made an incredible choice with Ellen. She is comfortable, Confident, and Comical on every show. She makes her points without rambling on and on like some other judges have been known to do.

i always appreciate your posts but i couldn't disagree more with you on this one. other than her humor, ellen has nothing to contribute. she doesn't know music and it shows over and over again! I MISS PAULA!!!

I don't care about technically knowing music or not. Ellen goes by whether it sounds good to her or not. That is what I go on. She is so comfortable and honest with the contestants. Her humor is totally refreshing.

I think she's alot like Paula, where she's just there to be the good cop to Simon's bad cop persona.
Even when she doesn't like the performance, she still encourages the contestants, which is what Paula did.
The difference is she doesn't get up and dance, and act drunk, like Paula did, and unlike Paula, she's not very attractive. However, her sense of humor is refreshing.

Ellen has stated that she is there to represent the people....us she is judging on personal preference...I like Ellen and she adds a lot to the show..Too bad that Paula could not be on as well but then we would eventually have as many judges as we do contestants..

I love Ellen! I've been watching her talk show since September and I'm hooked. I tune in everyday now. She has the castoffs come and do a performance and interview, so that's always interesting. Alex Lambert is on the show today.

I liked her comment where she said that someones song didn't come together like the back of a hospital gown. how does she think of these things to say in split seconds flat lol.

I agree that shes really quick on her feet, but for some reason I'm still not completely happy with her as a judge, that will probably change sooner then later though.

She is amazingly quick on her thinking. Some of those might be prepared in advance but if that is true it shows she cares enough to put in the extra effort.

She did stand up comedy for years as well as her show; she's probably really used to it. :p

We have been watching Ellen for years now and she usually always has the contestant that was given the booy on her show...Even when it has been a double whammy both are on her show..She really does love AI and has been a fan for years..

I like having her on the show because she's so refreshing and consistently funny. I think she summed it up, however, when she admitted she really couldn't judge singing. That's true for all of the judges, but at least she admitted it. Without her, we'd just have Simon glowering, Randy yo-yoing all over the place and Kara spouting nonsense and feeling up Simon. It's interesting that Simon twice has said that Paige had the best voice. At least Ellen hasn't said anything that strange yet! I hope this show dies next year. Maybe with a final of three weak guys, someone will stick a fork in it?

That is not fair at all. Ellen normally keeps her commentary quite brief.

after tonight's show i have to say ellen had the best line of the night. her "gilding the lily" was insightful and made me see her in a new light. she is quick, she's not just echoing the other judges and she IS adding another element to the show, ..... so i stand corrected!

Welcome to the Ellen bandwagon.
She's okay. Not great. Watching Pawler was interesting just to get a laugh out of the drunken banter. I think there are others they could have picked that would have been better. A LOT they could have picked that would have been worse too. She does get some good lines in from time to time.

It seems like Ellen is really over the show.
I doubt if she'll be back next year.

Ellen has not been as good lately as she was earlier in the season. I think she is getting worn down by the lack of talent she has to judge over. She is still my favorite judge though.

Ellen never says anything anymore. Hell, she isn't even calling anyone "adorable". Of course she needs to be brief because the other three blowhards need time to blather. If she's your favorite judge, then you don't really expect anything from them.
