Darn it. I am just so preoccupied with School and getting my internship that I forget to tune in to idol on time. Has anyone seen the first hour? What did I miss?

Jermaine Sellers has an excellent voice but he does not have a clue what to do with it. Andrew Garcia is the best of the guys as far as I can tell right now.

Aaron did a real good job of making My Girl his own. I think he is my favorite of the guys again. Garcia was a bit off.

Lee DeWyze even though he doesn't really have a great voice it works. I really enjoyed the song. He has a look and a voice made for alternative rock like Daughtry and Nickelback.

lancelot, it looks like it's me and you tonight. what did you miss??? michael lynche! he was fantastic on "it's a man's world." until lee closed the show no one was close. lee did do a great job but his awkwardness on stage made him at best a strong second. other's who did well, alex lambert and imo jermaine sellers. casey was good but not as good as last week. i considered andrew and aaron to be very ho-hum and forgettable. todrick was better than the judges gave him credit for being. tim urban was far and away the most improved. he's still weak but may have done well enough to earn another week. john parks was just plain bad. my pics to go home are john(please!) and todrick.

OK, last week was putrid. This week just ka-ka. The only ones worth keeping around are Big Mike, DeWyze, and (gasp) Tim Urban. They were also the only ones who didn't sound like sissy girls in their vocals. I still think it's funny that Simon says Lee has the best voice, maybe, but he can't sing on key, pretty weird. The others had no clue as what they were singing and brought nothing to the party. I would take maybe four of these amateurs and eight of the girls.

Loving Crystal tonight. Great song choice in my opinion. Felt it in my soul.

Hey all the Judges recognized also. Crazy talk Crystal worried about being back. Too many people recognize the talent.

Haeley was cute and I think she was ok on that song. Lacey was actually pretty good to my great surprise. Randy was wrong and Ellen was right. Kara had to like it because it was her suggestion. Simon had an interesting point.

Katie displayed her wonderfully pleasant breezy voice tonight. Definitely my 3rd fave of the Girls. Judges were absolutely stupid. They want her to be Britney or Miley. YUCK.

Michelle did her own wonderful heartfelt haunting version of Creed's "Arms Wide Open". Randy got it all wrong and the rest really enjoyed it.

I am really liking tonight's show. Lilly is doing a wonderful job on "Change is Gonna Come".

Katelyn also nice but will we go the whole night without one rock and roll song. Crystal was the only one that came anywhere close to singing Rock.

I think the judges are on crack tonight. Didi did well, so did that 17 year old girl, and they said they both sucked....

Paige was ok but too smiley happy while singing that song. Siobhan did not necessarily pick the right song but once again she showed she has easily the biggest voice in this years competition.
My wife & I (not like most we are in our early 60's) have been watching AI since it began & have always enjoyed it until this year. The talent level within this entire group compared with years past is simply horrible, boring, you name it. Franky if this is as good as they can do to find talent then the show along with Simon should disappear. There are two male & two female singers that show real talent, but as for the rest, well they don't even rate the time it takes to watch them utterly fail.

The guys again were a lost cause this week. For the most part, they sucked ass. I think the most surprising thing for me, was that the judges actually liked Alex's performance. I thought he was horrible. His voice was way off key, and weak.
As far as the girls go, I thought Crystal, Lilly, and Siobhan were the best, and will probably make the top 4. Lacy showed a little improvement, but not much. Didi really needs to get it together. She sounded okay, but her song choice was a snoozer. Hopefully, we've seen the last of Haeley. It's time for her to go.

OK, first there isn't a single guy who could even open a car door for Crystal or Siobhan. It's pretty embarrassing when most of the girls have more powerful voices than any of the guys. I don't think I can stand to listen to those reedy, off-key mewlings from the guys much longer. On the good side, Crystal's performance tonight was the best early one I have ever seen on Idol and probably one of the best when compared to later performances. If she doesn't win this year, it's only because the voters are tone-deaf morons or she dies from diabetes!

I didn't like it. I thought she didn't give it her all. Played it safe and made the song boring, in my opinion :) I love that song by Creed however. Makes me choke up.

Don't get me wrong Creed rules. I thought Michelle did give it her all. Slower haunting version.

Agree with you Chopper the guys suck and Crystal and Siobhan are the best of the ladies. I honestly feel that most of the women are pretty good.

On a positive note, 4 more will be leaving the show. I expect the few decent performers are safe (Crystal, Siobhan, and Lily). None of the rest of the girls and none of the guys will be missed.

It is a relief to see them cutting down the pool because I don't want to be wasting any more time with the absolute no chance to win contestants. One thing that worries me is that Siobhan might have the best voice but she does not have anything about her for the country to relate to other than that voice. I would not be shocked to see her gone way too early. I also worry that Casey James could end up winning this thing because of girls voting for the pretty boy like last year.

Seems to me that being black has never been a disadvantage. Reuben, and Fantasia did not deserve to win and still did. Jordin deserved to win and if she didn't it was one of two other black ladies. I did notice that it was two black ladies this time but they were arguably the weaker links. Lacey was much better this week.

Yeah, I really don't like how they have to eliminate the same amount of people from each gender. I understand why they do it, but I still don't like it. I would rather they emlinate the four worst singers period, regardless of gender.
I remember Season 6, when Jordin won, there were alot of talented girls that got voted off early, and alot of guys that got to stick around for a while, who couldn't sing a lick.
Mostly the voters in all their wisdom went after the black ones.
None of the black singers they have this year, are very good. There aren't any Ruben Studdards, Melinda Doolittles, or Jordin Sparks in this group.
Haeley and the skinny black dude were just awful, and had to go.

I guess maybe I'm the odd duck out here, but I'm really beginning to warm up to this group. It's still way early to compare any of them to the big performers we remember from past years, but I'm seeing a lot to like here.
My thoughts on performances this week:
Michael - One of the best male soulful performances ever on Idol. I thought he was pretty weak until this one.
John - Not great, but really not too bad for the guy finishing 20th. I'll bet if we lined him up with other 20th placers, he would be above average.
Casey - Average vocals, but the guy can REALLY play. Now that the voters have taken over, it will interesting seeing how much "America" takes that into account. Can a great guitar player win a "singing contest"?
Alex - Decent, if not great. Reminds of Jason Mras. Needs a lot of confidence building to go anywhere.
Todrick - I'm not real sure on him. I liked the rework of the song.
Jermaine - Interesting voice with a great upper end, but his style is too soft for me. Again, not bad for the 19th placer.
Andrew - I like him a lot. His arranging talents are superb. Last week was better than this though and his Paula Abdul remake during Hollywood week might have been better than either one. If he can get it back together, he will go places.
Aaron - Decent for someone so young. Feels more country to me than the motown he performed.
Tim - Better this week than last, but still the weakest singer in the competition.
Lee - Perfect song choice, not a lot of originality. Lots of pain and emotion. Sounded almost like the original and that sold a lot of copies. If he can rework songs into this mold, he'll be another David Cook.
Crystal - Absolutely superb. Great rearrangement, great vocals, great performance.
Haley - B-bye. One of the rules to covers is that if you cover weaker singers, you sound better. Of course, if you can't outsing Miley...
Lacey - A smaller ugh than last week, but still ugh. If she can't get that nasal drawl out of her singing voice, she'll never go anywhere. Great eyes though.
Katie - This girl is really good for her age, particularly for an alto. She performs like a 25 year old.
Didi - I really want to like this girl, but she just can't sing.
Michelle - I was surprised to see her go and I really liked her last week. I think she committed suicide by singing a song that's kind of an anthem for fatherhood. I don't think it holds up as well for motherhood.
Lilly - This is a girl that I don't want to like, because her musical style jars with mine pretty heavily. On the other hand she's so incredibly good at it, that I've just got to give her the nod. This is what Megan from last year tried to be and failed so miserably at it.
Katelyn - I actually really liked this performance. Randy and Ellen called it too slow, but if Chris Martin sang it solo this way, everyone would be loving it and saying he should have sang it that way all along.
Paige - Young pipes. We'll have to see
Siobhan - Great voice, but feels like a really different person. She has a very slow, airy way of talking and it's hard to think of her as a writer, producer or anything like that. As a simple singer though, she's great. I'll be glad when they settle on a way to say her name.
Overall, I love the way more of the contestants this year are pushing the envelope and making the songs unique. A few of the songs haven't really worked, but even a lousy new arrangement is better than a copy of something we here on the radio.
Just for the sake of conversation, I'm going to throw out predictions.

You're mostly talking ancient history before the white teenies discovered the phones implanted in their ears. "Weaker links," yeah right. Lacey sucked just as much this week, but had the benefit of racist votes. It's more or less like this....

it would be a shock if Crystal wins this thing. I doubt she registers with the usual voters. It's revealing that so many people in a much busier forum than this say, "I just don't get her". I think you're right about the remaining send-offs except that the racist voters may dish Paige.

Michelle was better than Paige or Haeley and should have stuck around. As for my opinion that Reuben or Fantasia should not have won I think it is pretty solid but a matter of opinion. Clay has a much better voice than Reuben and Fantasia IMO is just not good at all. I believed that the three best singers the year Jordin won were black. So if you think those are racist beliefs so be it.

I wanted Kimberley Locke to win that year, but I did like Reuben's style. I was never an Aiken fan. I never understood what the hype was all about.
Why Fantasia won is beyond me. They could've picked several of the other girls over her, and I would've happy.
