I am new to American Idol. I've never seen the show until this year. I have been highly entertained by the performers since I've started watching, and have not missed one show since the beginning of the season. Also, every "Idol Day" I vote numerous times for the performers I think are most deserving to win.
However, I have seen some things lately that are somewhat distasteful about American Idol. I like the idea that "the people" vote for whom they think should be the idol-the best entertainer. Yet, it appears that the producers have already decided for us fans and are trying to manipulate our voting process. Although I have supported Chris Daughtry and Katherine McPhee in the past, I will not vote for either in the upcoming weeks.
How is it that Chris has finished in what I understand is called the "pimp position", the last performing spot of the evening, three times? This is the most favorable spot, is it not? How is it, that Chris gets accompaniment on the stage? How is it Chris gets strobe lights and fancy production?
How is it that Katherine always gets complimented on her performance while the others (even Chris) get "constructive criticism"? (Albeit, she did get criticized the past week, but all of the "judges" reneged.) Hasn't Kat had more than her fair share of times in the "pimp position"?
I don't know about any of you other idol fans, but I think others may sympathize with me and a backlash may be in the offing.
Even though I have become somewhat disillusioned with the show, I will continue to watch so I can vote against Kat and Chris (I vote on average between 50 and 70 times per night). Then, next year, I may find something less distasteful to do on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
VOTE FOR PARIS, TAYLOR, AND ELLIOT!!!!!

I've heard they don't have satellite TV in the cave system in Pakistan, glad you finally got to see what they call in the western world (Television) pronounced: Tell-a-vi-shun
By the way you do know that they charge $1.50 per call, I'm not sure what that comes to in Pakistan money, but it probably means you owe the phone company about 2000 goats.

Any of the Idols and choose to be accompanied on stage. They also pick randomly for the order of performance. Of course they get guidance, but who cares anyway? It doesn't matter what order. And if you're voting 50-70 times per night, you're REALLY voting for the wrong people. I can't get through at all for Kat, Chris or Elliot after 2 hrs of trying!

Some people just make me sick, it is people like you that vote for others when they don't deserve it. Come on people in America just vote for the idols that do great.
Idol fan since day 1!
P.S. Just a side note about Elliott, being a Diabetic myself, he does a fabulous job under all the stress... GO Elliott

If you can't get through that means you shouldn't be worried about these people, they are safe. I know it's annoying, but persevere and you'll get through at least once.

I'm sorry you've become so disillusioned about AI. Last year it was the same thing. From day one, Simon has said Carrie Underwood had the IT factor and projected her as the winner, so it was a waste of time for anyonelse to try.
I don't know why they reneged on their criticism of Kat. You notice that Simon is always hyping on Paris' song being too old for her. And When Taylor dances, Quote "this is not a dancing competition" or something about being drunk in a bar" Do you see what he's doing? It's like yeah you sang well, but you are not the one we want to be American Ido 05. They're manipulating the votes. The judges tried to sound harsh so Katherine's fans could get busy and vote. Simon et al, has no backbone, they shouldn't be backpedalling. All the best in your voting.

I didn't mean to offend you Kat and Chris fans. They are both great entertainers, too! I was just wondering about fairness and expressed my concerns about a really good TV program.
In response to "absent element," I'm too busy with my regular jobs (music director at a metropolitan radio station during the day/advanced grammar instructor weekends and some evenings) to do voteforworst.com.
For "idolme2," I agree with you about Elliot. I admire and respect him, for I'm a diabetic, too.
To "Maxfactor," I was voting for Kat and Chris when I got through 50-70 times. Was I voting for the wrong people? (I use two cellphones, one in each hand, and the redial. It works well.)
And, finally to "Aztecgoods," sorry, but I've never been to Pakistan. I have been in Afghanistan and other southwest Asian nations serving my country and fighting for other's rights to vote freely without manipulation. (I'm a retired military reservist.) Thanks for your concern about my budget, but I get my calls free through my wireless service. Don't judge too quickly about people in these threads, or on AI for that matter.
Thanks to all of you for your intelligent dialogue. For now, I'll continue to...
VOTE FOR PARIS, TAYLOR, AND ELLIOT!!!!

Sorry it was just a joke, I realize there are a lot more important things than AI, but part of this forum is for entertainment, and you had just set your self up for a good joke, which I can't resist.

You should learn to read and write before you participate in these forums. I wasn't being racist. There is nothing wrong with living in a cave in Pakistan. I love it when people call you a racist and gay bash at the same time.

P.S. I guess you think its ok to discriminate against gays and other minorities as long as its not the same minority that you belong too? That's a really great way to look at racism. I guess you think its okay to cart the jewish people off to the gas chambers but its a different story if its your group?

GO Chris and Katharine! I like Taylor, simply because he's entertaining. I like Chris and Kat because they can SING! Elliott is a good kid, but his singing is not up to par with Kat and Chris. Sorry I don't agree.

I second that---MusicLVR---Someone mentioned erlier that its too early to decide who is going to win this thing because all the voting is real close--but I think we all know that Elliot and Taylor dont really have the same sound as Kat and Chris and Im talking about a good recording voice. Popularity really doenst get to what people are looking for in a great singing artist. thus the proplem with the competition--anyone with access to a phone can vote like crazy for their favorite-I dont really care about who people think is the cutiest or who get the most qauntity of votes. In this competition people should be Judged on their singing ability not really on the popularity--

If you look on the MSN website they have about 42,000 votes for the next winner. I think Kat was at 37%, the highest so far. She is definitely the one with the most talent AND marketability. I can't believe Tayler is still hanging in. What a bummer.
ecoman
05-05-2006, 05:09 PM
I dont think I would agree she has the most marketability--Taylors already gettin the public eye with his tourettes like dance moves---Sat night Live skits are a good example of how hes already being marketed without even pulling this thing off---SoULLL PATROL!!--and we should not forget William Hung---DAAUUM---look at the marketability of him--ahd he cant sing a note to save his life.--Now lets be straight up --the final 4 can sing. Chris has got excellent marketability hes got the looks, the personality and definately the voice that the recording industry is looking for no one can deny that!--but on the other hand Kat is very marketable too--no doubt about that-in fact Im sure Vicotria Seceret has got there eyes on her--cuz she is a hottie!
One thing that worries me about Kat is I wonder if her heart is in the singing part--isnt she the one who said she wants to be an Actress as her primary career objective?--Im pretty sure if you look at her profile on AI on Fox--she says that. so where would she go with all this --I wonder if AI is just a crutch to get to he main objective--being an Actress.
At any rate
