OMG.....
First off....
Kat: Okay, okay, I get it judges. She didn't match up to "par" with Whitney, but you thoroughly dissected her! What a bunch of @ssholes. The poor girl almost started crying. She may not have had the pipes to thoroughly pull the song off "I have nothing", but she didn't deserve the digging she got tonight.
It's as if the judges had packed all the weaponry, and unleashed it that night.
All I can say is Kat did an awesome job...she PULLED it OFF wonderfully. Get real judges...White girl pullin off a black girl diva's song? That's something. Their is a difference in voices.
Elliot: Sang the song quite well. But boring as boring could be. Nothing special, and nothing American Idol. The judges are rooting for him, but I think they know that his time is coming soon.(As David Foster said...lacks delivary)**Paula...get a grip, hobbit boy is going home soon**
Kellie: Southern twang is so strong in your voice. But I didn't think you did that bad. At times the pitch seemed to strike at odd places...but was still pretty good. (Kellie was hilarious...honestly/ The people love her...she's downright funny) Pottery? LOL
Paris: Gary Coleman has driven himself off a ridge. I don't know what the hell the judges were smoking while watching, but I couldn't understand half of what she sang. She truly was "forcing" it. I winced throughout the whole song. And she "wasn't" the best female vocalist. That was Kat...and I'm being honest here.
Taylor: Taylor's vocals weren't bad....just didn't spark anything with me what soever. Why? I guess because he wasn't acting "drunk". And this tells me that voice alone doesn't make him stand out.
Chris: Showed again that he doesn't have to vibratto through the whole song. It was enjoyable, and I really like it. Very smooth, and clear. One of the top three of the night.

Kathrine was as bad as they said. What's up with the moves? that was terrible. It seemed like she was trying to give it feeling,(because she usually lacks it) and made it really weird.
Ryan summed it up well when he said, For those who dont have the volume on, im sure you're going to get plenty of votes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im still laughing:jump1:

I think the audience agreed with me. Some mighty surprised faces were to be seen.
Just my opinion...and that is Kat didn't deserve that beating. She may have not been as "powerful", but she pulled it off.
I thoroughly enjoyed it....and hey, I think America knows she did awesome too.
In some weird way...I think the judges were hard on her on purpose. Why?? I've got my theories.
Some factors I can think of right off. But she'll be big with or without American Idol.

Hey McFever, time for you to "man-up" for a change. If your favorite contestant tanked, then be honest and say so. Enough of this "I think the judges disected her for a purpose" or "she'll be a big star regardless" crap; you sound just like some of the women defending Ace the last few weeks.
I like Katherine, so I'll be interested in seeing her performance later this evening, but if the pressure of being the front runner is starting to get to her than maybe, just maybe, she does not deserve to be the next American Idol.
McFeverish.....

Where did she falter?
I'm not making an excuse for her because she doesn't need it.
I thought she did awesome, and the audience thought it too.
After watching it.....you'll think the same. I loved the performance, and Katharine DESERVES defending.
At least she can sing.
So I'll "man-up" for her and defend her.

I agree with almost everything you said.
Katherine was really good, I think you're blubbering on a little too much about the judges digging in knives and what not, but I agree that they could have been more foregiving, because when it is said and done it was a really good performance, and without a doubt, her most notable, because she showed off for once, she was always a little to stoic, and opera, but tonight she moved, and she changed up her vocal tone, it deserved a better response, i agree with that, but when you heard Whitney you knew the response wouldn't be good from the judges, because they're rarely kind when singers sing Whitney and Mariah
I completely agree on Elliot, I'm sure he sang real nice, but I was too bored to notice, and I challenge anyone to find two people under 50 who knew what that song he sang was....I sure as hell didn't.
I think you're being too nice to Kellie, in fact I think people finally awoke from the spell she had them under, because that whole dialogue about Ghost, and playing pottery, was way too forced to be real, and then she sang, and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good.
Totally agree on Paris, wrong song...nobody wants to hear Streissand sung by anyone, and that includes Streissand, and I couldn't tell if that was singing or moaning going on, it was the most painful performance of the night, but you knew Randy would be supportive, and Randy dictates Paula, and Simon looked so bored, he was like.."Ok sure it was fine."
I liked Taylor's performance, I actually thought it was the best of the night, and he proved he can sing. But I can understand what you are saying. It's kind of like when the Truman Show came out, and Jim Carrey wasn't as funny as he usually is, so it was hard to know if you liked it or not.
And I think Chris stayed the course, I hate that brian adams song, but it was tolerable with him singing it.
And I must end on my own riff. I know Paula just signed a new contract, but I guarantee she doesn't finish it. Did you see how f***** off the charts she was tonight. It wasn't just annoying it was pathetic. She couldn't get out words for Katherine, she bawled during Elliot...She Bawled...Bawled! Couldn't talk again after Kellie. Repeated Randy after Paris, and blah blah blah to finish. If she isn't drinking, she's taking some kick-ass drugs because she is off the map. All that being said, Simon really does look like he's not only ready to strangle her, he seems so busy trying to manage her excessively poor behavior he can't really guage what's going on, on the stage, and the show is suffering. I mean it's really bad now. It's not even entertaining, and I blame Paula, in fact did you see Katherine's face during Paula's critique, it was hilarious, she seriously had a look of.."Ok, spit it out lush, I still got Simon to deal with" Priceless

This forum really sucks. Really. I post this for you, McPheever, ignoring this little war you are participating in.
Katharine was awesome. There were some parts where I felt like her voice was a bit thin (although that is not necessarily a bad thing), but other than that, her performance was... well... Anyway, all of Kat's fans and plenty others know that the judges were wacko tonight. However, I think Kellie stole Kat's song. Bummer. Kat had an awesome performance, but it's sad she chose a song that would not gain her much in the way of admiration... I don't think the song hurts her but in that it doesn't really propel her forward.
Elliot... well, what I heard was nice. Too bad he was right after Kat because I couldn't pay attention to him.
Taylor: Nice, but... not nice.
Kellie: Need I say more?
Paris: Not bad, all I can think of is that she's probably leaving tomorrow.
Chris: I think it was his best performance so far... well, there was one song he did a LONG time ago that I really liked, but I really liked hearing him hit some big notes for once.
I'll probably download all of them - already got Kat's.
Summary: GO KAT! ;)

Hi ALL,
Like you, I am [ more or less] a fan of AI.
Hey, I like all the artisits...[ heck, I wanna bring Gideon back...]
**attention Fox*****
Q#1
Why are 90% of the featured artists from another century?
[..is there no music now worth singing?]
Q#2
Why are most of the featured singers 'stand-up-at-the-mike' type?[ Ok, Stevie Wonder sat]
[....snooooooooooooooore,....]
Q#3
We love the judges,...yes we do,...but can we have ONE born AFTER 1965?
Q#4
Hey Fox, do you know you are losing [ have lost] the teens?
[ my 14 year old watched Discovery channel catching crabs off of Alaska instead......wake up TV execs,....]
I realize that the featured artist is world renowned , but, it did not fit AI at all.
All the contestants were swimming frantically to keep there heads above water in a musical style that was most pecular to them.
Haven't we had enough of this stuff?
Did you see Taylor, it was like the Producers put a kryptonite field around the guy, nailed his feet to the floor,[ they took the harmonica away a long time ago] and were holding his dog at gunpoint if he arched his back 1 degree....
And Chris, made the mistake of listening to Simon,.[..' week after week you come up and do the same thing, you got to do something different to win.'......great advice Simon, that and buy stock in the Bagdad Burger King..daaa]. Give the guy his guitar, and a back up band [ minus the violins and cello ],..and we can enjoy the moment.
And Kelly,...poor Kellie, being forced to sing everything but her expertise......does it show much.....?
Kat is in her element,...she is a stand up mike type,..and does it well..
Elliot,...well, he is good,....growing,....working hard.
Paris,....face it,...she would win AI hands down,.....if the 13-19 female cell phone group did not shut the show off,...oh,....after Wycliffe was on......get it!
What is the venue this week,...'AI sing the Gregorian Chant'........snoore...

To address Paula's weird ways last night: Paula has a chronic pain disorder in her spine, and she was pretty much thrown into a wall onto her back about a week ago (charges are being pressed). If she's taking the right narcotic pain killer, it would explain all her moodiness and spaciness. Some of the side effects include drowsiness, sleepiness, constipation, euphoria, exxagerated emotions, etc. I think this is the reason she's acting so silly. So I refrain from picking on her.

I agree with you!
I don't think the judges should say anything at this point!
They praise Paris and Chris no matter they do. I think they are horrible!
They give Katherine a lot of grief and SHE IS OUTSTANDING!!!
THE JUDGES REALLY NEED TO LET AMERICA !!!
Let America what?

"And I don't think that to properly pull of a whitney, you have to have that strong of a voice."
Exactly. I'm not too familiar with Whitney, so I didn't have much to compare. But I don't think one needs to compare. Katharine is not Whitney; she's Katharine. I loved Kat's rendition. I don't think the song was too big for her either... It's not necessary to have a "big voice" in order to sing well. I guess she did her own thing... at least that's what people who know the song are saying.
I'll watch Elliot's performance again by tomorrow.

^_^
Awesome.
After I rewinded it, and started focusing on Elliot's performance.
I actually really enjoyed it. His voice, is really really good.
Nice to see you here again Ciuma^_^
^^^^^^^^^^^^
I am also impressed with Andrea BOCELLI.
I spelled his name wrong on the thread....his singing is so very pure.
He seemed like a very nice man. And he was funny. Did you see Kat and him doing a duet?
That was so cool.

Yeah, and then when you mix the pain pills with 7 or 8 shots of tequila, it will really exxagerate your emotions and cause constipation. Did you get this list off of your own stash, it looks pretty comprehensive. Remember, you have to share on these things.

Nice to see you, too, McPheeverish. Is there another name I can call you?
Yeah, Andrea's cool. I went to the forums on his site, and all his fans are excited about seeing him on TV. They have nothing good to say about AI, but oh, well... I had good things to say about Andrea. I didn't know he was blind, though. Check out his site if you want to listen to some clips, including part of his duet with Christina. And yes, the duet with Kat was nice.

Well my name is David...but my friends call me Dave.
Yes.....very corny..but whatever.^_^
I went to his site though...and it's funny how his fans don't like American Idol.
Christina's voice is so strong. At least you can tell her voice is REAL, and not electronified like Brittaneys.

Hi All,
Did I miss it,.............or, did they not give it.
Is there a theme for next week?
Maybe it is Alaska Crab Fisherperson work songs......:-)
Boy, did they ax the Pickler 'goodbye' song or what..........wow!
Since AI insists on 'old stuff', why don't the bring out some Atlantic Rythm S ,..or Average White Band,...or Ohio Players,...?
..could you imagine Taylor / Chris [ hey, Paris could nail it too] ..............doing ' Brick House' and bring the Arena down!!!
have a good weekend

Questions raised on McPhees performance are obvious attempts by the AI judges to sway perception and votes............Long story short, McPhee is one of the few contestants who has chosen to distance herself from the on stage theatrics and body jerks, focusing on her voice/instrument to do the work to win.
I think America got it right! As much as I have loved watching the journey of Kellie Pickler, and as much as I will seek to support her endeavors, her performance this week was for sure in the bottom 2.
The other, Taylor Hicks is just getting annoying. I think America is catching on to Hicks little scheme!
As a refresher coourse, Hicks first impersonated the late great Ray Charles. A funny walk, a backside jerk and body mannerisms all included. Then it was the reincarnation of Joe Cocker, and Joe's trademark full torso bends and movements for a couple of weeks. The most recent weeks were visions of Tom Cruise in Footloose. What would Amercica do with another version of a desperate Tom Cruise?
I think that was what the AI judges were saying this week. Hicks can't continue to hide behind personalities from years gone by. Its not an impersonation contest. I think the AI judges are saying you have tom deliver more than on stage theatrics and body jerks. Its funny to read some of the replies in defense of Hicks, depicting him as original and unique. Fortunately for Hicks, most of his fans have never heard of the acts or names of those he impersonates!
Pickler is now gone and its time for Hicks to go and get down to the Four Authentic Idols that this competition was created for. Remember America, its a voice/singing competition. As much as I like the remaining 4, my money is on the one I think has proven over the last 7 weeks to possess the most versatile voice, the most controlled and the best range of all AI5 finalists. One4McPhee.
And can we agree to send a collective message to the AI Producers and back the maximum qualifying age down to 25 years of age. It makes no sense to include contestants in thier upper twenties that have been playing in thier own bands for up to 10 years to compete with others who are in thier late teens or early twenties who possess raw, unrehearsed talent.................Come on, two of the contestants either have gray hair or are partially bald. Give me a break. These contestants already have an idea how to work an audience, and more importantly should be on thier way making a go of it, without the support and recognition of AI.
REDUCE THE MAXIMUM QUALIFYING AGE BACK DOWN TO 25!!!!!!!!!!
The journey of a Chris or Taylor is not as endearing as a Paris or Kellie. Who's going to follow a middle aged American Idol???

I think the results of the 04/25 show were justified. It was time for Kellie to go; she just dosen't have what it takes to be an Idol. Kat deserved criticism for her performance because she fell flat this show. However, the judges may have gone a little overboard. Although, if feel good Paula says someone sucked then you know they had a really bad performance. Don't worry McFeverish, Kat will most likely ride her beautiful looks and good overall package to the final two.
