But how about Terrell and Derrell Brittenum (the twins) who got booted off right when the show got to Hollywood?

I mean here were two guys who were "on the lam" from the law and had three outstanding felony warrants against them in Georgia (for using another man's idenity to illegally buy an SUV). Instead of laying low like any reasonable crook would have done, what do these two jamokes decide to do? Appear on a national weekly television program. Not just any show mind you, but the most widely watched show in America with upwards of 30 million viewers each week.

I would have loved to have heard that conversation: "Hey Derrell, let's try out for American idol---no one will ever find us there!"

I'm kinda sorry they had to drop out. It would have been fun seeing the twins square off against one another.

The twins, aka Tweedle-dumb and Tweedle-stupid, were only on to entertain us. I think the producers want us to feel superior. After watching their embarassing antics, most Americans can say, "Well, at least I'm not that stupid".
Fantasia won the whole shebang 2 years ago and she couldn't read or write. However, she came across as more reserved, less ditsy then the Pickler and certainly more articulate than Bucky!
