I love our "As it Happens" threads which we usually run for shows (on Guy Sebastian's official site forum).......... our trouble is, most of these shows / gigs he does when he's "quiet" we don't know about, so we don't have anyone there. We were so lucky that he was, and put on such a show.

So - besides the Army concerts around Australia, and the Christmas Carols in Brisbane :w00t:

we know that this one

Zoofari is the Taronga Foundation's annual major fundraising Ball. The 2008 event will be held in the heart of Taronga Zoo, on the site of the new Elephant Breeding Facility and the first and last opportunity to hold an event at this venue before Gung our male elephant moves into his new home. Guests will enter through the heritage Elephant Temple and into a clear roofed marquee with views of Sydney Harbour, with a capacity to fit approximately 350-400 guests. Pre-dinner cocktails will be held in the new Seal Discovery Theatre and special animal encounters are followed by a 3 course gourmet dinner. The event is a fun and exciting evening with entertainment by Guy Sebastian and a live auction with Sotheby's auctioneer Justin Miller, offering unique ‘money can't buy' items such as Dinner in the Lions Den, An African Safari and Walk with the Elephants at Western Plains Zoo. Lucky envelopes and a silent auction also feature. A table of 10 is $5,000 and a VIP table is $10,000. The 2007 event sold out and tables for the 2008 event have already been booked.

thanks to Janice and Missnomore (always wonder if she took her board name from Guy's famous "No More" song, the big prize winner of late 2002 (yep, folks - way before the Idol Competition but after his group's Battle of the Bands win - Guy's a winner all round!! - Even RTP!)

Now, all I need is to win a lottery and get a couple of those VIP tables (which are prob. already sold out, anyhow) :awink:

Jules and Guy Sebastian, A listers at the Myers show. (He's always been listed as an A lister, just its very hard to get him to go to the 'show' gigs, but Jen and Jake are big friends of Guy and Jules, they even came to the wedding.

Guy and Jules short interview at the beginning, keep watching to see Guy and Jules in the audience when the show is on.

ALthough its rather old in its writeup - Guy has FOUR albums, The Memphis Album going 3P, and nominated as one of the highest selling albums of the year for Australia.

Bit expensive again though. They are asking for "substantial donations" per table.

btw the Perth Show, Concert Under the Stars, has been cancelled. Now - I have to say, this comes as no real surprise but I'm truly sorry for all the WA people.

You see, Guy is in the middle of the Legacy Army concerts at that time, he was singing in Melbourne the night before (its a long and inconvenient hop to Perth) and WE COULD NOT GET THIS ONE CONFIRMED. Time and again we tried to get this confirmed and slotted in to Guy's official diary, but it just wasn't happening.

I suspect, as the show is some two months down the track, someone got a little ahead of themselves. Some organisers feel that because they've 'mentioned' it to an artist, its 'on', without taking into account the immense pressures they are under, particularly at that time of the year.

I think it was November 8, hotting up for Christmas and end of year stuff. And there was no reason that, this far ahead, they couldn't have slotted another artist in. There's been almost if any advertising. Truly TRULY sorry for Perth people, tucked away so far. At least they are having a Legacy Army concert - just not with Guy.

Loving the concerts = the girls had 3 at wagga wagga. Lucky things. The big Saturday night crowd gave him an absolutely awesome standing ovation. So they should, I've actually never gone to a show where he hasn't had one, but they said this one was massive.

This is great, this mention

"Rip It Up magazine 14/2/2008
Guy Sebastian won Australian Idol with a voice that oozed soul. And as much as everyone likes heaping **** on Idol, there’s no denying, in Sebastian, they unearthed a star"

its things like that, that makes us occasionally REALLY love the media.

and this was dropped on one of Guys youtube performances

LOL...hey Guy, you are a consummate artist, my man!

tonight is the big fundraiser Zoofari at the Taronga Zoo in Sydney. Should be fab. for those going there (the usual suspects have flown up from Melbourne, they were in Tasmania for the Army Band last Saturday).

We have the usual 'as it happens' thread tonight, so we are hoping we get something. I just received dvd from the Frontline fundraiser of Oct 20th. FABULOUS - the sound and video screens were perfect, really. And he was shaven and wore his 'cute cap' - the same one he wore on the Aust Idol show when mentoring.

:P

and here is a Google alert from today

Idol favourite joins Army tour

DANIEL BOURCHIER

November 21st, 2008

BIG band sounds will be led by the voice of an Australian Idol
at a unique concert in Darwin this weekend.

The eight-date national tour is coming to the Darwin Entertainment
Centre tomorrow night.

The tour is a fundraiser for Legacy, and will see 70 Army musicians
perform, including the Army Precision Drum Corps and the Australian
Army Divas.

Sebastian has sold more than 1.2 million albums worldwide since
shooting to fame by winning Australian Idol in 2003.

The Malaysian-born singer-songwriter has been busy touring with his
latest collection The Memphis Album, his fourth since winning the reality
competition.

The concert will include tracks from Man of La Mancha, Cirque du Soleil,
and the Broadway smash playing on southern stages Wicked.

Legacy is a support program for widows and widowers of deceased
veterans, and cares for more than 127,000 people across Australia.

All proceeds from the national tour will benefit the organisation.

Army in Concert with Guy Sebastian is at the Darwin Entertainment
Centre at 8pm tomorrow.

While the album sales to any overseas might sound a bit 'poor' believe me, they are stupendous for us Aussies - part. for one who hasn't been properly released overseas, or had the numerous showcases and other performances that others have had (one only private one arranged personally via Guy and US Sony) and etc. We're so thrilled that FINALLY after all these years, proper acknowledgment is being made.

Can't wait for the real global release etc.
