I'm Andrew Ryan , the Editor here on idolme.com and I have been on numerous diets including Atkiens and the South Beach Diet. Here you will find my review of the diets I've been on.

 

 

At one point I was 35 lbs over weight and weight a total of 215 lbs. I wasn't exactly fat but I had a spear tire around my waist. Throughout the years I've tried several diets including the Atkiens Diet, Weight Wathers (count callories) diet and my own diet program. I have lost weight and gained weight several times and I've learned the best diet plans for me was the South Beach Diet.

South Beach Diet Review: Five Stars

There are three phases of the diet with phase one lasting about two weeks. In this phase you start by staying away from foods with a high-glycemic carbohydrates. These are the more startchy type of foods like bread, potatoes and sugar. This was a hard first step for me at first. I really enjoyed my breads and cutting back was really hard. Instead I ate a lot of lean beef and more vegtables.

After my first phase I was able to start eating more of the old foods I liked but only if it was in moderation. I really think this is the important key to any real long term diet. Anything you eat should be in moderation or you run the risk of gaining the weight back. During the first few phases of the diet you learn quite a bit about good carbs and bad carbs. The educational aspect of a diet is also very much important.
