Avril Lavigne Has *Not Ripped Anyone Off*
July 9th, 2007The two guys of the “Rubinoos” are trying to sue Avril Lavigne and her co-writer Luke Gottwald. Tommy Dubar, founder of band the Rubinoos, claims that Lavigne’s song “Girlfriend” has a striking resemblance to the 1978 Rubinoos song “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend.”
Lavigne made a blog post on her myspace page addressing this issue:
“Let it be crystal clear that I have not ripped anyone off or done anything wrong. I have never had to deal with anything publicly like this and surely never wanted to. I do not deserve this negative press and attention. I take pride in the songs that I write and appreciate the opportunities to work with some great writers and musicians.” more here
Anyway… doesn’t this sort of thing happen all the time??? I can pick out, just about, any song off my iPod and related it to another song in some way. IMO… the Rubinoos bad needs to let go and get a life.
