Williamsville East students have what it takes for American Idol

January 28th, 2006

Yet, another graduate from Williamsville East, goes on to Hollywood. Brian Miller was a contestant on American Idol.

Did you miss American Idol on Wednesday night? Then you missed Brian Miller. His audition was not shown, but it did show him coming out of the audition room with his yellow Hollywood paper. So, you did not get to see his talented performance. But, his audition was good enough for Randy, Paula, and yes, Simon to head off to Hollywood.

In 2004, John Stevens was a finalist on American Idol. Brian went to Williamsville East high school with John Stevens. Brian Miller auditioned before, in 2004 but did not make it. So it seems these Williamsville East high school students have what it takes for American Idol. And remember to watch to see if Brian Miller has what it takes to become the next American Idol.

Brittenum brothers un-invited from American Idol

January 27th, 2006

The lawyer for Terrell and Derrel Brittenum, who were arrested awhile back and are now free on bail, states that the brothers have been “uninvited” from American Idol. On an Atlanta radio station, the lawyer said this: “It was an amicable breakup. The guys understood why. It’s amazing how these things work.”
Fox officials continue to have no comment about this problem, and whether the brothers will or will not be seen again on American Idol. The network did say the brothers will have a live appearance on Wednesday night MSNBC’s “Scarborough Country” which indicates the brothers still have a contract under Fox. They were supposed to fly to LA for the next round of American Idol eliminations, but they were suddenly “uninvited” from the show.
The good news, however, is there are rumors flying around that the brothers has been contacted by many record labels interested in giving them a contract.

AMERICAN IDOL GETS STEAMY

January 26th, 2006

American Idol is getting really nasty this season.

The talent contest has always made fun of the not so talented that only want their dreams of stardom on TV.

Now it seems those contestants are coming in for ridicule. Bounced contestants have been quick to anger back at the judges. We are in a new era of contestants that simply will not stand for this type of ridicule by the judges.

Many of the contestants don’t want to settle for the 15 seconds of fame. They want that big record deal with album sales that soar. They just want a career that is going to last.

Seems like weight and sexuality are favorite targets, as in previous seasons. Just like the school yard has and now American Idol has, The dreaded horrible school yard bully has come back with a vengeance.

In last week’s Chicago audition a man with a high-pitched voice got Simon’s horrible advice. That advice was to shave off his beard and to try wearing a dress.

In the Denver audition Randy couldn’t hide his surprise that a slightly built, longhair contestant was male or female.

That’s why I say this season has really gotten ugly. But stay tuned because auditions are not over yet. Next week we move on to Las Vegas.

Carrie Underwood wants American Idol contestants to sing her songs

January 24th, 2006

Kelly Clarkson has changed her mind about allowing her songs to be sung on American Idol. She was the first American Idol winner, she owns the rights to her songs, and is of course able to let or stop the contestants on American Idol#5 from singing her songs. In the beginning, she did not allow the contestants of idol to use her songs. Nevertheless, after a “talk” with Simon Cowell, she changed her mind.

Carrie Underwood, however, would love to have her songs sang on American Idol. However, she has not been approached by the producers yet. She believes it is because American Idol 5 is still in the auditioning phase. She had this to say about Kelly and Fantasia’s songs: “When I was auditioning, none of us, especially the girls, wanted to sing Kelly and Fantasia songs, because we didn’t want to be compared to them.”

Will we be hearing songs performed by Kelly, Fantasia and Carrie on American Idol 5? Only time will tell.

Twins on American Idol #5 - Future Unknown

January 23rd, 2006

Terrell and Derrell Brittenum both auditioned on American Idol #5. All the judges, including Simon, agreed that they should go on to Hollywood. The judge Paula Abdul had this to say, “you guys make the other twins in the past competitions pale in comparison.”

They were so thrilled to be going to Hollywood they shouted “We’re going to Hollywood!” while running up and down Chicago waving their yellow papers they received that was proof they were going. They were in fact, the first twin auditions to make it to Hollywood in American Idol #5.

Sadly, things are not looking too good for Derrell and his brother Terrell. They have been charged with forgery, theft by deception and financial identity fraud. Terrell, has been said to be in jail at this time, while Derrell, is expected to turn himself in soon.

People who have had legal problems in their past, and were up front with their legal problems, were allowed to continue with the contest, but, their legal problems are not in the past, but are still happening. So, if they will be allowed to continue is unknown at this point.

Rumors Run Wild

January 7th, 2006

On the set during filming of “Justin To Kelly: The Rise of Two American Idols”, rumors are flying about just how close these two really are to one another. Insiders state that Kelly Clarkson the first American Idol winner and Justin Guarini the runner-up have been seen in some pretty steamy situation.

Stated by a set insider that would prefer to remain anonymous, “Justin and Kelly are crazy about each other. It appears to be a full blown romance.”

“They’ve done very little to hide their affection. They’ve been acting lovey-dovey around each other and are becoming more and more inseparable.”

Wonder if we can learn of any more about if the gossip is really true?

American Idol uses Military Airport for transportation

January 5th, 2006

Yes, one of our favorite American Idol stars, 18 year old Diana DeGarmo traveled by military aircraft during a USO tour.

Diana DeGarma along with Reggie McFadden (comedian) and Michael Peterson (country music singer) traveled to several U.S. bases throughout eastern Africa and the Middle East. They traveled in a delegation, which was led by the General Peter Pace the chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The United Service Organization tour began at an air base close to Doha, Qatar and stopped in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Djibouti and even the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier in the central Arabian Gulf. The complete tour lasted one week.

Diana DeGarma was if you remember from last year the runner up to Fantasia Barrino on American Idol.

She did explain that the tour was tiring sometimes mainly when they did two shows in one day. She also commented that she really enjoyed the time spent on tour and that it did make her more aware of the hardships that face American troops.

“I learned that there’s more to this war than sending troops overseas,” she said. “They’re missing so much and risking their lives.”

Diana DeGarma brought her mother along with her on the tour who also happens to be her manager. At every performance she asked that volunteers from the audience come to the stage for a dance contest and she closed every performance with the song “America the Beautiful.”

Her weirdest moments was performing for cold and shivering troops in Baghdad at Camp Victory with those helicopters flying over their heads and people shouting. She even spent a night in a former palace of Saddam Hussein.

Evil Idol 5 Rumored

January 4th, 2006

We all have been patiently and some of us impatiently waiting for American Idol 5. We see all the commercials with glimpses of good and rather bad singers flash before our eyes and bring us even more anticipation.

It seems from statements in the past that this American Idol has the nickname of Evil Idol 5. The first comment to bring this nickname about was from Ryan Seacrest. He stated that American Idol 5 would offer more “individual and independent competitive spirit than ever before.” In a later interview, Randy Jackson stated that there would be “interesting fighting and dialogue going on amongst the contestants.”

Every season we hear these kinds of rumors but none directly from the ones in the know. As Randy Jackson said of the audition tour this time for the American Idol season, “I think the kids this time probably want this worse than ever, so there’s quite a bit of interesting fighting and dialogue going on amongst them. People’s egos are saying, ‘We’re friends and we’re all in this together, but hey, I want to win this — and I don’t want anybody to stand in my way.’”

So, among us Idol fans we are still waiting anxiously for the new season to begin so we may find the next American Idol for 2006.

Some people say that there is a guy who sounds like the lead singer of Nickleback but I guess we will have to wait and see.
