The number one spot on the Top Gospel Albums and Top Gospel Artists was claimed by Ruben Studdard. Ruben Studdard was the 2003 American Idol winner and his release “I need an Angel” won him top position.

The top position on the Top Christian albums charts went to Clay Aiken the runner up during season two of American Idol. His platinum selling release Merry Christmas with Love was the best selling new holiday album of 2004 as well.

Coming in the number two position after Clay Aiken was the Switchfoot. Others that also won awards for the Top Gospel Albums chart include Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, Israel & New Breed, and dance-pop duet Mary Mary.

American Idol stars have been seen everywhere since the popular show began and they are normally seen at the top of many music charts today. I wonder what greats we will see created coming up in 2006.

American Idol will stay on same nights

December 3rd, 2005

Good news for all of us American Idol fans. We do not have to change any of our plans for the new season of American Idol. Fox announced that it would keep the talent show on Tuesday and Wednesday night after its season premiere on January 17th.

Preston Beckman, the Fox scheduling chief, believes that American Idol will help get more viewers for other shows on Fox on Tuesday and Wednesday nights especially the show “Bones”, which will move to 9 p.m. on Wednesday nights on January 25th.

Fox has also changed their schedule for the time being and will replace “Prison Break” with “Skating with Celebrities” another reality show. Prison Break will return on March 20th.

Many other shows will be shuffled around but at least American Idol will keep its place and keep its fans happy. I guess when they know they have something good they know not to change it.

Cowell to stay with American Idol for five more seasons

December 2nd, 2005

Yes, the judge we all love to hate, Simon Cowell, the British record producer signed on for another five seasons. So, we will get to watch him in action again as he belittles and embarrasses all upcoming talent.

This harsh worded Simon Cowell has aided the Fox talent shows in becoming one of the most popular shows on the Fox Network. Maybe it is because of his say it like it is personality.

The Fox Network revealed to sources today, December 2nd, 2005, that they did sign with Cowell to keep him on their popular show for at least five more seasons, beginning with the fifth edition of American Idol that is to air in January.

Simon Cowell still gets to keep his rights that he had previously to sign the winning singer and even the runner-up from every American Idol contest to a recording contract with his own label. His label is Sony BMG, which is a partnership between Bertelsmann AG and Sony Corporation.

Not only did Fox sign the deal with Cowell but they also renewed with 19 Entertainment, which is owned by CKX, and the Idol producing partner, FremantleMedia. With this agreement, American Idol will be aired for at least four more seasons also beginning in January with the fifth season.

Idol was the most popular show and watched show on television in the United States last season, with an average of 27 million viewers on Tuesday night. It was also the in the lead of the ratings race among viewers aged 18 to 49 which is the group that is prized by advertisers.

American Idol is Fox’s largest advertising cash prize, currently mounting between $500,000 and $700,000 for every 30-second commercial.

As the new American Idol season begins, we will enjoy seeing our old favorite judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson.
