Worldwide album rock charts show American Idol artists on top

The third week of December American Idol charts, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Bo Bice claimed three of the top ten spots Billboard’s Top 200 album chart. The week just prior to Christmas is known to be one of the best selling weeks of the entire year for the music industry.

In the UK, the weekly sales chart for the top 15 spots showed American Idol and Pop Idol artist Kelly Clarkson and will Young in two of those prominent positions.

Carrie Underwood’s debut album “Some Hearts” rose from number 5 to number 2 on the chart with over 271,000 albums sold for that same week. After only 5 weeks of the release, this album was certified platinum with over one million sold. Her debut album “Some Hearts” was released on November 15, 2005.

Bo Bice’s debut album, “The Real Thing” was also seen in the number 4 slot and sold more than 226,000 albums. His hit single “Inside Heaven/Vehicle was on the Billboard Singles chart at number three. The “Breakaway” album by Kelly Clarkson moved back up the charts to number 8 with over 180,000 sold for that week.

Kelly Clarkson’s album “Breakaway” has been in the top 20 since the album was released on November 30, 2004. Not only has it been in the top 20 for a consecutive 55 weeks but has been certified 4X platinum in the United States with over 4 million albums sold and over 7 million copies sold through the world.

Fantasia is near to a double platinum mark with her own debut album “Free Yourself and the Christmas album “Merry Christmas With Love “by Clay Aiken pasted the million mark. Clay Aiken is planning to release a new album in 2006.
