Stone Sour Biography

If you are into heavy metal then Stone Sour is the band for you. Corey Taylor (formerly of Slipknot) and a friend Joel Ekmann formed the band in 1992. Shawn Economaki, joined shortly after, and filled in as the bass player. The band was named after an alcoholic drink that consists of one part whiskey, one part orange juice, with a splash of sour mix. They had been together for several years without releasing an album until 2002. Two of the members have come and gone to their other band Slipknot. While performing in two bands they feel they can let themselves go and play what they want whether anyone likes it or not when they perform in Stone Sour. Slipknot does not give them this freedom.

One single called, "Bother" was used in the Spiderman Movie and another single the Cynic was used in the "Jason vs. Freddie" soundtrack. This made the sales for both singles soar. Over the years they have been back and forth but they still stay true to their fans of both. Corey Taylor told MTV that he expects Stone Sour to stay on the road for all of 2007. This means he and Root won't be returning to their other band Slipknot until 2008.
