Ne-Yo Biography Ne-Yo was born Shaffer Chimere Smith on October 18, 1982. He is a Grammy award nominated R&B artist. Ne-Yo's debut album was released in 2006 called "In My Own Words". It went to number one and sold over 300,000 copies in the first week. The same week his single "So Sick" also was number one. He also loves to write as well as sing. He has written songs for Rhianna's- "Unfaithful", Mario's "Let Me Love You", Paula deAnda's "Walk Away" and Beyonce's "Irreplaceable". All have been in the top 10 and most have been number one hits for the artists. His sophomore album will be released May 1, 2007 called "Because of You". The single, Because of You is out as of this writing. He has also written songs for Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Britney, and Enrique Iglesias for their new albums. He is scheduled to write songs for Usher and Chris Brown, as well. He was recently contacted by producer Will i. am for work on Michael Jackson's new album. He said it is easy to write for women because he used to listen to his mother and sisters about love so he takes from their personal experiences. Besides his winning Male R&B/Hip Hop Artist of the year at the 2006 Billboard Awards, he has been nominated for two Grammy's.
