They have been together since the 1990's and they used to be in a band with Eddie's brother John Michael Montgomery, who is also a big-time country star. They went through several ideas for a name for themselves and finally came up with Montgomery Gentry and they stuck to it. Montgomery Gentry released their second album entitled "Carrying On" in 2001-2002. Their first single "She Couldn't Change Me" did very well by going to number 2 on the charts. Their second single "Cold One Commin On" did not do as well as the first single by only going to number 23 on the country charts. Their fourth album did even better "You Do Your Thing".
