Pop rock star Michael Joseph Jackson was born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, member of a family that burst in show business in 1964 as "The Jackson Brothers".
The Jackson Brothers changed his stage name for The Jackson 5 in 1966 and then signed to Motown Records in 1968 for the release of "ABC", the Jackson 5’s first top single song that hit number one in 1970 with Michael leading vocals.
In 1971, Michael Jackson was persuaded to leave the band, releasing the single "Got to Be There" that peaked the Top Five chart, followed by the cover "Rockin' Robin", Bobby Day's original.
However, it was not until 1972 that another single achieved the international popularity of "ABC", but this time featuring Michael Jackson in his solo facet, performing the title song from a thriller movie called "Ben", included in both the film soundtrack and Michael's album.
Despite success, Michael's solo work was released as part of The Jackson’s 5 franchise including their following studio albums "Music and Me" (1973) and "Forever, Michael" (1975). After legal proceedings, Michael got back to the revamped group "The Jackson’s"
In 1978, Michael Jackson debuted on a musical film, “The Wiz”, performing as the scarecrow by the side of Diana Ross and meeting Quincy Jones, who would produce Michael's first solo album now totally away from the Jackson’s.
The result was "Off the Wall", released by Motown in 1979, an album which is considered a breakthrough effort that succeeded worldwide and the only album in music history that has spawned four top-ten hits.
"Off the Wall" produced several single hits, won numerous awards, and introduced Michael to plastic surgeries that Michael Jackson would undergo to shape his nose.
The 1980's made Michael Jackson the unquestionably king of pop after releasing the album "Thriller" in 1982, which impacting choreographic work and film techniques, featured in a long-length video, caught the international attention.
From 1971 to 2001, Michael has released eleven studio albums and a new album under production by his own company The Michael Jackson Company, Inc. is scheduled to be released sometime between 2007 and 2008.
