Martina McBride Biography

Martina Mariea Schiff born in Sharon, Kansas on July 29, 1966 is better known as Martina McBride world famous country singer. Her and her two brothers and sister were raised outside Sharon, Kansas where she discovered country music from her fathers band the "Schifters". Since they rehearsed in their home, it was easy for her to join at the age of 7 and her brother Marty when he was 5. They did weddings at VFW's and dances all over town through her teen years. After she graduated, she traveled around Kansas with several other bands.

On May 15, 1988, she was married to John McBride. They moved to Nashville in 1990 and they both began working with Garth Brooks, she sold t-shirts! Eventually she signed with RCA Records.

Martina is a mother of three daughters, Delaney, Emma, and Ava. They still live in Nashville. Having eight studio albums and 42 Pop 100 singles under her belt she has been said to be the Celine Dion of country music. Martina McBride appeared as a guest coach on Canadian idol on August 21, 2006 and on September 17, she announced the winner, which was Eva Avila who would be invited to tour with her.

Martina McBride 2007 Tour starts in April, she will be playing 40 cities through July, and she will have Special guests Rodney Atkins and Little Big Town joining her.

Martina is now releasing her ninth studio album, "Waking Up laughing", which was released on April 3, 2007. Her single "Anyway" on the album was co-written by Martina, which she has never done before. She performed it on American idol on April 17th.

Martina doesn't want to be on every cover of every magazine, she said she just wants to be able to raise her kids which are her priority and if she has anything else she accomplishes on the way then it's just icing on the cake."

Every year now, her and Reba McIntyre get together with several other female singers and have what they call a "Girl's Night Out" which is an all female country tour where even their daughters come alone. This has become a yearly ritual for female country artists.
