Mario Biography

Born Mario Dewar Barrett on August 27, 1986 in Baltimore, Maryland this Grammy award winning R&B singer is better known as Mario to his fans. He had always wanted to sing since age four. Mario's mother supported his singing from the very beginning even before he was in a group with MoNiques son, while in school. His singing talent was discovered at age 11 and signed. Then when he was 14, he signed on with Clive Davis.

Mario came out with his first album, "Mario" at the young age of 15, which was a huge success. To date it has sold over 700,000 copies. He went on tour with Bow Wow, Nick Cannon, B2K, and Marques Houston. He is an idol in the teen world now.

In 2004, he released his second album, "Turning Point" and this one was more successful than the first selling over 1.7 million copies. In July 2007, he released his third album, "Go!" Mario says this album is sexier and more passionate than the first two of his albums.

Mario has branched out into acting and has been in such films as "Step Up" and "Freedom Writers". He said he would like to own his own company and become a producer or director at sometime in his life. He says with so many people involved in making a movie you have to have your input. Communication is the key to making a good solid movie as well as a music video. He wants to do a more serious record for the people who have experienced some of the same things in life that he has.

Today, he says his life is good but there is still more he wants to do. His mother is doing well and he says she is beautiful these days. He owns three homes and his life is what he has dreamed it would be. He has overcome many struggles but has grown up to be a polite young man of 20, but he still has his boyish charm. He is not finished going after his dreams.
