Kings Of Leon Biography

King of Leon is three brothers and their cousin from Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. Caleb Followill was born January 14, 1982 in Memphis, Tennessee. Jared Followill was born November 20, 1986 in Memphis, Tennessee, Nathan Followill was born June 26, 1979 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Matthew Followill was born September 10, 1984 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They have another cousin, Christopher "Nacho" Followill that sometimes tours with them and does the technical part.

Nathan, Caleb, and Jared got the name of their group from their father and grandfather who were both named Leon. Their father was a preacher so they traveled a lot while their mother was in charge of home schooling. This went on until 1997 when their parents divorced because their father was defrocked. Then the brothers moved to Music City in 1998 and formed their band with their cousin, Matthew in 2000.

They sang country music for a while before going to rock and roll. They were signed under Pistol creek Productions for but went to RCA where they were introduced to producer Angelo Petraglia. He had done work with Brooks and Dunn, Trisha Yearwood, and Martina McBride. He brought them out of the country scene by turning them on to music from the Rolling Stones and such bands like these.

Their first album was called, "Holy Roller Novocaine EP". However, it was the second album that made them rise to the stars! Since then they were asked to tour with U2 and The Strokes. Holy Roller Novacaine was used in the movie: Talladega nights: Ballad of Ricky Bobby, the movie, Stuck On You and the TV show: The Shield. Their second album was released in February of 2005 titled "Aah Shake Heartbreak" Their third album was released in April of 2007 titled," Because Of The Times'. The title was a reference to a minister's conference held in Alexandria Louisiana, the brothers often attended with the family. There currently working on the fourth album, even though the third one was just released. They just want to write songs again, so this was a great way to make another album.
