Furious Five Biography Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five were inducted into the hall of fame in 2007 by Jay Z, and became being the first hip-hop artists to be so honored. The group was formed in the late 1970's. Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five did scratching in their music and came up with some of today's biggest phrases used in the hip-hop world. In 1983, Flash starred in a movie entitled "Wild Style" and in the process, he sued his record label Sugar Hill Records for royalties on his part. Flash and Melle Mel split; Flash went on with his group as just Grandmaster Flash and Mel went on with his group Grandmaster Melle Mel and the Furious Five. Mel released his song "White Lines" which became his signature song. Grandmaster Flash has a clothing line called "G.Phyre" and hosts a radio show on Sirius Satellite Radio.
