Foreigner Biography

Although Foreigner is an American rock band formed in 1976 in New York City, the band's guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer, and leader of the band, Mick Jones was born in Surrey, England, hence the name of the band.

Jones was previously a member of renowned bands such as Spooky Tooth, Nero and the Gladiators, and The Leslie West Band. After a while, he decided to relocate to New York, inviting British fellows Ian McDonald and Dennis Elliot to join the band, but Foreigner as a project would not be possible without New Yorkians members Al Greenwood, Ed Gagliardi, and Lou Gramm.

Foreigner soon afterwards got a record deal with Atlantic Records, company that released their self-titled debut album in 1977 breaking into the mainstream immediately after the song "Cold as Ice" that topped at number one in most charts around the world.

From the same album, another two tracks, "Feels Like the First Time" and "Long, Long Way from Home", were released as singles, achieving similar success. By the end of the year, "Foreigner" received a RIAA 5x-platinum certification after such an impressive public acceptation.

Foreigner the band has sold over 50 million albums worldwide, being listed among the Best Selling Music Artists. From 1977 to 2006, the band has recorded 24 studio albums and live albums plus several compilations.

The band has placed on the charts numerous single hits including their debut single "Cold as Ice", followed by songs such as "Dirty White Boy", "Urgent", "Jukebox Hero", and "Waiting for a Girl Like You", just naming a few.

The band has seen passing by 26 members others than Mick Jones, the only original Foreigner's member as of today. Apart of the unmistakable style of former vocalist Lou Gramm, another remarkable Foreigner’s member was Jason Bonham, son to former Led Zeppelin's drummer John Bonham.

In 2007, Foreigner went on tour with Styx and Def Leppard. The goal of these presentations is to support their album "Extended Versions" released in 2005. Meanwhile, Mick Jones has been scheduled to play at the opening during the one-night-only Led Zeppelin's reunion, scheduled to be released on November 26, 2007.
