Billy Currington Biography

William Matthew Currington was born on November 19, 1973 in Rincon, Georgia and is an American country singer and songwriter. Billy currently resides in Nashville and is single with no children. Billy sings everything from romantic ballads to songs that show his hillbilly side. No matter what he does, Billy will always stay with his southern side of his life. Billy Currington's parents raised him listening to records by Kenny Rodgers, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson.

Billy Currington released his first album called "Billy Currington" in 2003, which got Billy really started in the country world. His first single from the album was "Walk A Little Straighter" which is a very beautiful and popular song. This single reached number 8 on the country charts. His second single from the album was "I Got a Feeling" which is a more up-tempo song about loving someone. This single reached number 5 on the country charts.

In 2004, Billy worked with Shania Twain on her song "Party for two". Billy did the duet with her for the country version and a pop version was done with Mark McGrath. This duet with Shania gave Billy another top 10 hit.

In 2005, Billy released his second album entitled "Doin Something Right". He went straight to number 1 with his first single from the album called "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right". His second single from the album only went to number 13 with "Why, Why, Why". His third single went to number 6 on the charts with "Good Directions". With his second album, it went gold with selling over one million copies. In 2006 after the release of this album, Billy toured with another hot country artist Brad Paisley.

With all of Billy's success, he was featured in an issue of Playgirl; however, he remained clothed in the pictures. In addition, Nashville's Lifestyle magazine named Billy on the 25 most beautiful people in their magazine.

On Billy's new album, he shows his love for Kenny Rodgers with doing the cover of Kenny's song "Lucille". Billy's has said that he loves the lyrics, the song, and wanted to bring it back on his new album.
