Amy Winehouse Biography

She was born on September 14, 1983 in Southgate London, England into an English Jewish family. With a history of jazz musicians, she surprised everyone by starting a short-lived amateur rap group called Sweet and Sour at the age of 10. When she was 12, she attended Sylvia young theater school only to be expelled at 13 for piercing her own nose.

Tyler James her friend gave her demo tape to an A&R person, which started her on her professional singing career at age 16. She came out with her debut album in 2003, which was mainly written by her. Then she went on to release one more.

The tabloids were having a field day with her saying she was bulimic and was drinking excessively much because of canceling shows or coming in late and acting drunk or throwing up. She would say it was food poisoning however, no one believed her. The next month the reporters said that she was in a manic depression state. She admitted to have an eating disorder in October 2006. Then there were multiple appearances in the British tabloids concerning her alcohol abuse. When she was interviewed, she explained that she has problems with their drinking because it tends to get violent. Hopefully, she now has her problems under control. Time will tell and you will be sure to know because the tabloids are always watching.
